Big Dan is a man who Kai encountered several times.

A Team Divided[]
Kai first meets Big Dan when he bumps Kai near some molten steel at the Heart of Steel Foundry, which he informs Dan about, but he asks him if he "can't take the heat." They proceed to have a hot sauce challenge, and Kai wins, but a burst of flame comes out of his mouth and gives Dan a large bald spot.
Dan then goes to an ice rink with his children to celebrate a birthday, but when Kai, now a Rambooni driver, tells him to move, Big Dan refuses. However, the Rambooni goes out of control and breaks the child's birthday presents and cake. Furious, Dan challenges Kai to a battle in the Yang Tavern.
At the Yang Tavern, Big Dan begins to battle Kai, but Kai uses the Art of the Silent Fist to defeat him.
