The headband is a headgear given to Kai by Cyrus Borg shortly before the ghost invasion.

Curseworld, Part I[]
Cyrus Borg gave this to Kai, explaining he was busy making the other vehicles and all he could make is a headband. Kai wore it on his head, thinking it was useless. Later, to escape one of Soul Archer's arrows, Kai used it to zip-line down a cable.

Kai's 2021 hairpiece
- The headband shares its appearance with the ones on the ninja's Deepstone hoods.
- According to Cyrus Borg, the headband has a thread count of 32, easy tie capabilities, and is embroidered (though there is no visible embroidery seen in show).[1]
- In The Island sets, Kai was given a new hair piece with a red headband molded onto it, though this does not have the same appearance as his hair in "Curseworld, Part I," because it is a variation of his The LEGO Ninjago Movie hair.
