Designer's notes[]
"Set number 13 and my second polybag! This one was less intense to figure out than it's full-size counterpart, but it was still quite a challenge to crack given all the constraints we have with polybag production~
Ninjago fans may have noticed the pattern by now, that we always try to do a 2-in-1 polybag in the first half year launch, and this year was no difference. I was originally asked to do something similar to 30674 Zane's Dragon Power Vehicles, where we pick two existing sets with similar colour palette and do a microscale version of them, but I asked the daring question - "What if we just make the combiner mech into a polybag?" and voilà!
While it does require rebuilding (trust me when I said I TRIED to do it without rebuilding), I'm still super proud that all 4 of the vehicles get a rather accurate and in-scale representation in the B-model, even a stack of 1x1s to represent mini "big" Zane! :D Now here's the real question - is it gonna be faster to rebuild this polybag between the two forms, or doing the full on transformation with the big one?
P.S. Just to clarify on the packaging - you do NOT need 4 copies to build the 4 models in separated mode!! Just get 2 if you want to display them side by side with a combiner mode will do ;)"[2]
