Overview
5004938 Ninjago Minifigure Collection is a 2017 Bricktober set of Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu minifigures. The limited edition set contains some of Ninjago's rarest minifigures.

Background[]
The set was first revealed in October 2017 as a Toys "R" Us exclusive. However, only the month before, Toys "R" Us filed for bankruptcy - making it very difficult for people in the United States to obtain the set. It was reportedly out for a short period of time, partly due to being a Bricktober exclusive and also being limited to Toys "R" Us.[1]
The collection remains one of Ninjago's rarest sets, due to being out for such a short time because of Toys "R" Us's liquidation. Though the set originally retailed for $20, by 2018 sellers on sites such as BrickLink typically sold it for no less than $30, and on eBay it started selling for no less than $40. Over the next few years, the set tremendously appreciated in value. As of 2022, the set sells for over $100 on Bricklink, and anywhere from $100 to $200 on other sites.
Trivia
Trivia[]
- All the minifigures wield weapons that they were never seen using in the show.
- Each of the minifigures were introduced in a different season. Golden Kai was introduced in season three, Neuro in season four, the Nindroid Sentry General in season six, and young Krux in season seven.
- All the minifigures are also exclusive. The Sentry General is a redeco of Cryptor, while Krux's armor bears great resemblance to his original minifigure. Neuro and Kai have original printing that doesn't bear resemblance to other figures.
- This is also the only set to include any variations of Neuro and the Sentry General, as Krux and Kai have appeared in other sets with different appearances.
- Kai's golden design differs slightly from his TV series appearance where he lacked leg printing and had a gold belt instead of red. In the set, he also has a full ninja mask and golden ZX armor, while in the show, he only had a bandana and no armor.
- Neuro is the only minifigure in this set, as well as the other Bricktober set, not to have exclusive leg printing.
- Krux's leg printing is nearly identical to that of his original minifigure, except for the chain now being absent. Oddly enough, the bottom of the hourglass printing was not removed from his legs, and abruptly cuts off below his torso.
- Young Krux's minifigure was exclusive to this set for many years, until the figure was reimagined in the 2026 Legacy set 71861 The Old Town. The new version fixes the original's flawed printing, removing the hourglass from the legs, and even including the figure's show-accurate hair (which wasn't released in black until 2024).
- According to Brickset, this set is the worst value for the number of pieces out of any Ninjago set. Similar sets, such as two accessory packs, have cost far less while having the same (or more) number of pieces. Even worse, the set's rareness has only heightened its prices.
- In some countries, this pack (along with the other 2017 Bricktober packs) came with an exclusive pop-up card backdrop.[1]
- Out of all the characters in the set, two of them, Kai and Sentry General, all share same the voice actor in the TV show, Vincent Tong.
