Onboard Destiny's Bounty, Wu, Zane, and Jay have sailed to the secret island that held the Hypnobrai Staff. After making landfall, Jay and Zane fight against Skales by the staff's shrine for control over the staff. After noticing that the cunning general was preparing to use his hypnotic stare at Jay, Wu fired the Bounty's cannon and destroyed the shrine! At that moment, Garmadon made his presence known and attacked Wu, knocking off his hat.

Garmadon then declared that he would conquer Ninjago, leading to a fight between the brothers. As they fight, Zane and Jay return with the Hypnobrai Staff and Wu's hat, providing an opening for Wu to defeat his evil brother. With the day saved, Zane complimented Jay on his handling of the situation, leading for the blue ninja to crack a bad joke in reply. With a sigh, Wu sarcastically wonders if he would have to hypnotize Jay again.
