Merlopian^[1] is an ancient dialect predating Ninjago that is used by the species of the same name.

The Tale of Benthomaar (flashback)[]

In his youth, Kalmaar spent most of his time studying the legend of Wojira and took countless notes in his room, all written in the Merlopian language.

Five Thousand Fathoms Down[]

Upon entering the Temple of Wojira, Nya and Maya came across a door with a warning inscribed in the Merlopian language. Unable to discern the meaning of the message, the pair relayed footage back to their team and Zane was able to quickly decipher all but the seventh word inscribed on the door. Eventually, he was able to translate the entire warning as reading, "Go no further, ye who seek Wojira, for the sleeper in the deep must not be disturbed until the end of days."
