Background[]
Hundreds of millions of years ago the Great Volcano erupted. Following the eruption its core was sealed by cooled down lava, labeling the volcano dormant.
The Land of Monsters[]
At some point in time, a race of Monster insects that resided below the earth intended to cause a second eruption of the Great Volcano, hoping that by doing so, the resulting atmospheric ash would blot out the sun and wipe out all life in the Merged Lands save for insects. To accomplish this plan, the Monster insects began kidnapping various monsters that ventured near the Great Watering Hole before forcing them to cut holes into the underground sides of the Great Volcano.
The plans of the Monster insects were foiled however by the combined efforts of Kai and various allies he had made in the Land of Monsters, leaving the Great Volcano to remain dormant.
