The guards are a group of samurai warriors loyal to the Cruel Lord.

At some point, the Cruel Lord became a ruler of a walled village and enslaved its residents. To make sure no one leaves the village, he placed some of his guards to the village's gate.

The Cruel Lord ordered his men to make the peasants of the rice paddy work harder. When noticing one who was not working, he demanded her to bring him water. The peasant revealed herself to be Nya, the Water Ninja, to the fear of his guards. He ordered them to attack her, but they failed. He then tried to attack her himself with his sword, only to be easily defeated and cast down a river along with his samurai.
