When the Venomari appeared in his village, Sam was struck by their hallucinogenic venom. When Jay, Kai, and Zane arrived at the village, Sam, along with Jin and two other farmers, drove them into the barn, thinking they were animals. After shaking off the venom, he, together with the other villagers, came to assist the Ninja in battle, but the Venomari were already under the influence of their own venom.

- While in the English version of the book, it is unspecified who was the first farmer that woke up from Venomari venom and ran for help, it is revealed in the Russian version that it was Sam, making it possible to better identify him on the pictures.
