Plot
Plot[]
From Boys to Ninjas[]
Cole climbs the highest mountain and finds Wu waiting for him at the top. Jay creates wings for flight and tests them by jumping from the roof of a building. However, the wings fail him, and Jay falls onto another building, where Sensei Wu is already waiting. Zane tests his strength by sitting in cold water. When he opens his eyes, Sensei Wu is there. Kai works as a blacksmith in a small village, but then an army of skeletons attacks and kidnaps his sister. Kai then joins Master Wu to rescue her. After extensive training, the young men become ninjas, and are now powerful enough to stand against Garmadon and his evil forces.
Quest for the Golden Weapons[]
Sensei Wu stands before the four young ninja he has trained in a short time. He wonders if they have the strength and courage to defeat Garmadon and his minions. Sensei explains to the heroes that they are the chosen protectors of the Golden Weapons, and when Kai asks about his sister, the old master promises that the team will search for her after finding the weapons. Cole then reminds them that Sensei intended to teach the warriors Spinjitzu, to which Wu responds with a riddle and leaves. The ninja follow him.
Having reached the Caves of Despair, the team discovers a dig camp set up by skeletons in the canyon. Wu realizes that Samukai and his army are trying to find the Scythe of Quakes and warns his students that they must not use weapons under any circumstances. Cole is about to explain the plan, but Kai, without waiting for his comrades' consent, rushes through the canyon. The remaining ninja are forced to follow him, hiding under a conveyor belt.
Meanwhile, the skeleton squad is digging. Kruncha finds a donut-shaped rock and tries to bite it, despite Nuckal's warnings. The ninja make their way past the skeletons and find a map. Zane retrieves it with nunchaku on a string, then opens it and reveals that the enemies had been reading the map upside down this whole time, causing them to dig in the wrong place. Kai runs off again, not waiting for the others. The team catches up with him in a cave, where the red ninja is trying to move a large rock. Behind the rock, they find the Scythe of Quakes.
With the scythe wrapped in cloth, the ninja make their way through the caves, hoping to avoid the skeletons. However, it turns out that Samukai has already found the heroes. The ninja rush into battle, then begin tossing the scythe back and forth, but soon tire under the onslaught of so many enemies. Jay steps forward to help his friends, and over time, his attacks accelerate until he transforms into a Spinjitzu tornado. The blue ninja says he simply trusted his memory, and the other heroes follow suit and spin around as well. The skeletons flee the battlefield. The team celebrates their victory, but a large dragon appears behind them.
Zane concludes that Spinjitzu is no longer an option in this situation. The dragon corners the ninja, and Kai decides to use the Scythe of Quakes. He slams the ground, causing an earthquake. Cole finds a hole in the rocks, and the ninja use Spinjitzu to escape through it, while the dragon is slowed by falling boulders. Outside, the team hands the scythe to Sensei Wu, who scolds Kai for his rash actions.
Meanwhile, in the Underworld, Samukai reports to Garmadon that the ninja have mastered Spinjitzu and have already retrieved the scythe. To the Skeleton General's surprise, Garmadon says everything is going according to plan and the ninja will soon be trapped. Then he bursts into laughter.
