Plot

Plot[]

Rock-Hard[]

Cole is bored and suggests Zane to play the game "Rock-hard," where the one who smiles, loses. Zane makes a shadow of Wu's Chicken, which makes Cole laugh. Then Cole tries to make the Nindroid laugh by juggling with fruits and falling on a banana peel, but this doesn't work, after which Cole remembers that Zane turned off his emotion-meter and asks him why didn't he remind him about that.

Ninja at Heart[]

Arriving on the shores of Lighthouse Island, a bearded Jay carried a large stash of painting supplies from his boat and breathed deeply at the thought of finally being alone from the world on this solitary island. Unfortunately, Jay's peace was disturbed by the presence of Echo Zane and Tai-D, who introduced themselves to their new guest. After grumpily expressing his desire of being alone, Jay agreed to stay only when the two robots promised that they would act as if they were not there at all!

The next day, the former ninja of Lightning set up his painting supplies and hung the sails of his ship across the room, forming a large curtain that concealed himself from the two robots. Before he could start getting to work however, Jay caught a whiff of fresh baked buns and peeked his head out from the curtain. Surprised to see a feast of delicious treats prepared, Jay inquired quizzically about the food, noting that the robots did not eat. In response, Echo Zane revealed that he was programed by his creator to always prepare food when guests stayed over. Jay then agreed to sit and enjoy breakfast.

After breakfast, Jay began working on his paintings but was interrupted when a ball soared through the curtain and struck his canvas, splattering paint everywhere. After glaring at the robots, Echo Zane sheepishly apologized and stated that he and Tai-D would play outside. Unfortunately, this peace did not last long either, for a Leviathan began slamming its tentacles against the shoreline to rid itself of Starteeth. Jay hastily descended the lighthouse steps and assisted Echo Zane in treating the Leviathan, plucking off starteeth and bandaging the leviathan's wounds with pieces of his curtain. Once this was completed, Echo Zane collapsed onto the shores from water exposure, short circuiting himself.

Jay carried the deactivated nindroid back up the lighthouse, and with some help from one of Dr. Julien's journals, Jay was able to remove the moisture from the nindroid by covering him with rice. When Echo Zane failed to stir afterwards, Jay knew what had to be done. Reluctantly, he embraced his lighting once more and shocked the nindroid back to life - all while knocking himself unconscious from the electrical current in the process! When he awoke, Jay was greeted by Echo Zane who asked him about his curtain. In response, Jay stated he no longer needed the curtain, for he could be better at being a friend than a loner; but first, he did have to do something about his beard though.

Tough Opponent[]

At Kai's dojo, the former Ninja of Fire was preparing to teach his new group of young students. As he brought out a wooden training dummy for them to practice against, the kids complained that they did not want to train with the dummy out of fear they would get splinters. Five minutes later, Kai returned with a new dummy, this time made of pillows. Unfortunately, this was no better, for all of his students were allergic to the feathers stuffing the pillows. After another ten minutes, Kai returned with a carboard cutout of Kalmaar, believing that the kids should be willing to fight this target as there were neither splinters nor feathers. Unfortunately, the kids all burst into tears from the frighting visage of the deceased King of Merlopia, prompting Kai to change the day's lesson to be about "how not to cry at the sight of an opponent made from cardboard."

Trivia

Trivia[]

  • The main story and both comics take place before Season 15.
  • The scene of Jay arriving to the Lighthouse Island is slightly different from the one shown in "Separate Ways" and implies that Jay already had a beard prior to meeting Echo Zane.
  • It is possible that the story "Ninjago at Heart" is based on an idea Tommy Andreasen had for a comic series.[2]
