The Calm Before the Storm[]

The sub car was being worked on by P.I.X.A.L..

Jay drives the sub car into the water and saves some tourists, and joins the fight and fires rockets at Wojira. However, the sub car was nearly eaten by Wojira, but dropped it when Nya stopped her, with Jay, into the water, where it sunk. It appears to not have sustained that much damage due to being extremely durable, only the wheels being bent a little and the cockpit been cracked.

Nyad[]

Jay, while trapped, attempts to contact the ninja. However, the car powers down, causing the inside to flood. Jay tries to punch open the glass cockpit, but to no use, until Benthomaar and Cole save him.

Bad Water![]

Jay and Kai rode in the sub car when the ninja sought to investigate contamination to Ninjago City's water supplies. After disembarking from their vehicles, the ninja discovered an illegal fracking operation being run by Miss Demeanor and her goons. After initial attempts at defeating the villains through hand to hand combat failed, Jay proposed a new plan and all four ninja climbed aboard the sub car. Since the vehicle was a two-seater, Kai and Cole were forced to ride atop the roof.

Jay then drove past Miss Demeanor's operation to catch the villainess' attention, and as expected, she gave chase. Jay then deliberately slowed down a bit for her and her goons to catch up with the ninja before suddenly accelerating again, forcing the goons to speed up as well. As they neared the riverbank, Jay dove right into the water and converted the sub car to its submersible mode, allowing the ninja to traverse the waters. The goons on the other hand, were not as fortunate, and crashed their mining vehicle into the polluted river instead.

Separate Ways[]

After receiving a distress signal from a cargo ship, Jay drove the sub car to the nature preserve where the other four ninja were currently at on another mission. Since the others were currently in the middle of relocating a large flock of weary citizens, only Cole went with Jay in the sub car to respond to the cargo ship's calls for help.

Discovering that Captain Soto had taken command over another group of citizens who had established a floating "village," Jay formulated a plan to propel the sub car onto the village to stop Soto. After carrying out his plan, Jay and Cole secured Soto aboard the sub car and prepared to return to Ninjago City. However, Jay noticed that they were near Lighthouse Island and decided to make a stop there to reminisce about the time he and Nya hid from Nadakhan there. After setting foot on the island's shores, Jay decided that he would spend some time away from the ninja on the island, believing that he could be closer to Nya here. Jay then bequeathed the sub car to Cole, who drove it back to Ninjago City to hand Soto over to the police.

Submersible form: The sub car can convert its wheels into rotors that can drive through water, acting as a submersible.
Speed: The sub car is quite fast both on land and on water.
Torpedoes: The sub car can fire torpedoes that have a much higher payload than those of the mini submarines, as the sub car's were actually able to harm Wojira.
Durability: The sub car is extremely durable, as it was able to resist being fully destroyed by Wojira's massive fangs.

It is called the "Ninja Sub Speeder" in the sets.
This is Jay's second car, the first being the Ghost Taker GT.
The way the sub car transforms from a car to a submarine is similar to Finn McMissile's submarine mode in Cars 2.
In the show, the front wheels of the car turn upwards, however in the set, they are intended to be turned downwards but can still turn upwards.
In the show, the propellers on the wheels are gold, but in the sets, the propellers are gray.
