Plot[]

All-Conquering Embrace[]

Kai and Cole are preparing to go on a reconnaissance mission when suddenly an explosion is heard. A frustrated Jay approaches them, having attempted to create a new invention involving explosives but miscalculated some of the parameters. For a week, the lightning ninja has been trying to come up with clothing to protect against the new clan of snakes, the Constrictai: first, he coated the suits in glass shards, then added fire, then tried dousing them in fish oil, and finally decided to add explosives. Kai asks what idea he'll try next, and Jay suggests conducting electricity through the clothing. Cole notes the problem with this idea, and Zane, in turn, comes up with something very crazy and dangerous. After two days of preparation, the ninja track down a small group of snakes and approach them with an offer of cuddles. The Constrictai realize it's a trap and flee. The joyful ninja return, reflecting on how they managed to defeat their enemies with nothing more than smiles and hugs.

Nothing in the Dark[]

The ninja are trying to track down the Constrictai serpentine. Kai manages to find an unusual patch of earth, dug up, as if someone was concealing their presence. The team follows the tracks and finds a pile of branches. After clearing the pile, the heroes find the entrance to a tunnel system, and Zane is surprised that the Serpentine decided to camouflage their lair, as they haven't done so before. Cole and Kai descend, while Zane remains to guard the entrance. They reach a fork in the road and decide to split up, agreeing not to start a losing battle if the serpentine appear.

Kai is making his way through one of the tunnels when suddenly the ground begins to collapse on him. Using Spinjitzu, he manages to stop the collapse and continues on toward a cavern that resembles a dining hall. Along the way, Cole encounters strange traps and emerges into a large chamber where he finds numerous scrolls. Having found each other, the ninja share their findings: Kai discovered a pile of candy, and Cole some comic book scrolls. Suddenly, a cry for help is heard from somewhere. The heroes run towards the sound and find Lloyd, who has been captured by one of the Constrictai snakes. It turns out that the boy decided to make a lair in the tunnels because he thought no one lived there anymore, and the snake was furious with him. The ninja manage to defeat the serpentine with a few combat moves, and the rescued Lloyd escapes the cave.

Trivia[]

• The story "All-Conquering Embrace" takes place a week after the events of "Can of Worms."
• Based on the illustrations in the book, the events of "All-Conquering Embrace" take place before "The Snake King," as the ninja haven't yet received their ZX Suits.
• The story "Nothing in the Dark" takes place between the scenes of "The Snake King," as the ninja in the illustrations are wearing ZX Suits and Lloyd hasn't yet been captured in Ouroboros.
