A Cold Reception[]
Ninja arrive at a village threatened by the Hypnobrai, according to Zane's vision. The locals claim the Serpentine have never appeared in the area, but Jay notices something odd: there's not a single fresh fruit left on the village's shelves. The heroes decide to investigate the village more thoroughly and conclude that all the residents have been hypnotized into collecting food for the snakes. The ninja disguise themselves as farmers and thus discover where all the food is going. The team storms the village's largest building, catching Skales and his warriors off guard, but soon find themselves surrounded by more arriving snakes. Zane repels the enemies with chunks of ice, then takes out shurikens and freezes some of them. Skales orders a retreat, while the villagers emerge from their trance.
The Bravest Ninja of All[]
Jay asks Zane to hypnotize him so that the blue ninja will think he's the bravest and impress his parents. Although Zane doubts himself, he ultimately agrees and begins a hypnosis session using Ice Shurikens. He manages to tell Jay that he's the bravest of them all, but is interrupted by Kai, who warns him of a Hypnobrai attack on a neighboring village. The blue ninja jumps up and decides to deal with the problem. When Cole explains that the only road into the village is guarded by snakes, and the other way requires climbing a very steep slope, the lightning ninja declares he's not afraid of anything, grabs a branch and rope, and begins climbing. Zane follows him, trying to protect him from harm, but wonders if Sensei Wu won't like this at all.
From the top of the mountain, the ninja spot snakes carrying crates out of a warehouse. Without thinking, Jay decides to slide down the mountain on a branch. Zane, realizing his comrade could easily fall to his death, jumps after him. The White Ninja uses his shurikens to create several ice constructs that slow the heroes. Together, they fly to the very base of the mountain and crash into a warehouse. Snakes surround them, and Jay is knocked unconscious. However, just as Zane is about to fight alone, Cole and Kai arrive. Thanks to Jay's reckless actions, the enemy's attention is distracted, and the remaining ninja easily infiltrate the village. Lloyd orders a retreat, and the Hypnobrai retreat into the forest. The ninja return to camp, where Zane once again hypnotizes his friend, so he can face his parents fearlessly, but not act recklessly.
