The Way of the Ghost, alternatively titled The Hour of Ghosts (UK), is a Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu book released in 2015. It comes with a Techno Kai minifigure.

The First Encounter[]

Screamer is walking through the forest at night and bumps into Kai. He gets very scared and runs away from the red ninja to the ghosts. They help the frightened creature calm down and tell him that Screamer is new and didn't know people really existed.

The Clean Bucket[]

During one of their training sessions, Wu tasks Nya with cleaning a bucket. The girl obediently completes the task and brings the clean bucket to the master, but he says he needs a clean bucket. Nya returns to the pond and cleans the bucket again. This time, Sensei Wu again rejects it. A similar situation occurs after the third time the bucket is washed. Then the future water ninja decides to disassemble the bucket, thoroughly wash the individual planks, and then reassemble it, making it look new. But the old master refuses to accept this bucket either. Then, an angry Nya throws the bucket on the floor and asks what she's doing wrong. Sensei explains that the bucket was indeed clean the first time, but the girl doubted herself and continued to clean it over and over again. Nya realizes that she should have stood her ground, and that was precisely the point of the sensei's lesson. After this, Wu jokingly asks her to go get some water and dodges the bucket thrown in his direction.

Unexpected Guests[]

Wu and the ninja go on a picnic in the forest and scold the students for not bringing weapons. Hearing this, the ghosts decide to attack the heroes. However, Kai drops water balloons on them, and the frightened villains flee.

  • The comic "The First Encounter" takes place some time before the events of Season 5, as Kai is still wearing his Season 4 outfit. (non-canon)
  • Nya is already wearing her ninja outfit in the story, meaning it takes place after the episode "The Temple on Haunted Hill."
  • The second comic takes place in an unknown time between the episodes "Ghost Story" and "The Temple on Haunted Hill," as the heroes already know about the water, but Cole hasn't yet become a ghost. (is not canon because the Ninja did not meet Master Wu between these episodes)
