This brand-new storybook features three short, original ninja stories! Peace has returned to the world of Ninjago, but the brave ninjas continue to face challenges: Cole rescues a boy from a labyrinthine cave system, Jay struggles to cope with his nerves on stage at a karaoke bar, and Nya once again encounters her greatest enemy, Ultra Violet. The key is to remember that ninjas never give up and overcome every obstacle that stands in their way.

Plot[]

Cave Catastrophe[]

Cole receives a letter asking for help and travels to a system of underground caves that have become unstable since the Colossus's arrival. There, he meets Mr. Lee, who says his son disappeared after a doctor came to examine his ailing wife. Cole enters the dangerous caves and stabilizes them with his elemental powers. Using candy wrappers, he finds a boy huddled in a dark corner. Gene refuses to come out, ignoring all of Cole's pleas: the boy doesn't want to return because he overheard his father's conversation with the doctor and learned that his mother is in serious trouble. To convince the boy, Cole tells his story of becoming a ninja and promises that Gene's mother will be much better off if the boy returns. Gene finally agrees and climbs onto Cole's back. As the ninja tries to escape the cave with the child, his concentration weakens, and the underground tunnels begin to shake again. The exit to the outside turns out to be blocked, and Cole calls his drill, with the help of which he finally breaks through to the surface and brings the boy home.

Karaoke Blues[]

Dareth asks Jay for help at a bar. When the ninja arrives, he finds the building covered in posters of his face. It turns out that after defeating a biker gang], no one else came to the bar, and Dareth decided to fix that by announcing that the Lightning Ninja would be performing songs there. Jay declines because he can't sing, but Dareth insists that karaoke doesn't require any special skills. Reluctantly, Jay waits for the performance to begin and is amazed by how many people have gathered. He tries to find at least one familiar song on the list, but keeps playing songs he's never heard before. Not knowing the lyrics, the ninja can't find the rhythm or sing properly, angering the patrons. However, Jay accidentally plays "Yin and Yang Forever" and remembers the locket in his pocket. A gift for Nya inspires him, and he begins singing his heart out. The crowd is left in awe, and Dareth congratulates his comrade on finding his voice.

Settling the Score[]

The Police Commissioner informs Nya that the Sons of Garmadon are planning to poison the water supply in Ninjago City. She arrives at the city dam and climbs to its very top. She notices nothing strange in the water, but discovers a mysterious shadowy figure speaking with the commissioner's voice. When the villain steps into the light, Nya realizes it is Ultra Violet. Ultra Violet reveals the voice-changing device The Mechanic gave her in prison and declares she wants to settle the score. The villain then places a shackle made from the Vengestone on Nya's leg to prevent her from cheating with the elemental power. Unable to use her powers, the water ninja gradually loses ground. However, Nya then remembers that Lloyd also lost his powers but managed to fight back against Garmadon because he had rediscovered his faith in himself. The girl quickly finds a way to turn the tide of the battle: she forces Ultra Violet to throw a dagger at the dam lock, and while the villain is distracted by the rushing water, she pushes her onto the grate of one of the maintenance shafts. Ultra Violet is knocked unconscious by the blow, while the commissioner and several police officers arrive at the dam and learn of what happened.
