Overview
- This article is about the Elemental Power. For the Source, see Life (Source). For another power with similar properties also used by Lloyd, see Golden Power.
Life (also referred to as Energy,[10] Green,[11][12] Green Power,[13] Green Energy,[14] Power,[15] and Life Energy[16][17]) is an Elemental Power[18][19][20] in the Merged Realms that is derived from the Source Dragon of Life[1][2] and is a combination of the four elements of Creation.[21][22] It is associated with the color green and corresponds with the Green Ninja and the Energy Dragon.

Lloyd using Life to close a Mergequake
- Ergokinesis/Vitakinesis - The user is able to project and manipulate energy drawn from life.
- Ergogenesis/Life Energy Generation - The user can generate energy drawn from life.
- Ergokinetic/Life Energy Flight - The user can fly by using either an energy blast, beam, or ball drawn from life to propel themselves or they can concentrate the energy inside themselves to create an aura which causes them to levitate.
- Ergokinetic/Life Energy Aura - The user can create an energy aura drawn from life around themselves for protection from direct contact.[23]
- Bio-Ergokinesis - The user can possibly manipulate energy in their body in many ways, like creating bio-energy constructs or controlling their own biological energy.
- Ergokinetic/Life Energy Attacks - The user can attack with energy drawn from life.
- Ergokinetic/Life Energy Infusion - The user can infuse themselves or an object with energy drawn from life to increase the strength of their blows.
- Ergokinetic Strike - The user is able to supercharge their strikes with life energy to have more power in physical attacks.[23]
- Ergokinetic/Life Energy Blast - The user can release blasts of energy drawn from life over a specific target area, causing great damage and/or delivering great shock waves of pure force. These blasts can be strong enough to knock someone back, destroy ghosts, and blast away large objects.
- Ergokinetic/Life Energy Ball Projection - The users of this ability are able to create balls of energy drawn from life that can be dispersive, concussive, or explosive.
- Ergokinetic Propulsion - The user can propel themselves up or forward using life energy.
- Ergokinetic/Life Energy Bomb Generation - The user can create or launch bombs of energy drawn from life. The result of the bomb could be concussive, dispersive, or explosive. Weaknesses
Weaknesses[]
- Deflection - Life is able to be reflected back at him as Chen used Metal and Morro used the Sword of Sanctuary to deflect an energy ball back at him. Drix also managed to deflect one of Lloyd's energy blasts with the Prismatic Blades.
- Underwater Environments - Lloyd mentioned that his powers wouldn't be effective underwater.[28]
- Misfortune - If attacks from Misfortune and Life hit each other, both elemental attacks will negate each other.[29]
- Swarm - Elemental Masters of Swarm can instantly heal from injuries inflicted by Life via their regeneration capabilities, as demonstrated by Drix when Lloyd blasted off his arm in "Chaos Unchained".
Notable uses
Notable uses[]
Pirates vs. Ninja[]
When Lloyd drops in, the Ninja tell him not to fight before Kai puts him in a barrel. In an attempt to get out of the barrel, Lloyd uses his first Spinjitzu, although he didn't use it against Captain Soto and ended up being defeated by him.
After Lloyd accidentally used his elemental power for the first time, which resulted in the ninja being trapped under the mast. But Nya, in her Samurai X mech, stops the pirates, and repairs the ship.
Ghost Story[]
After possessing Lloyd, Morro used the Green Ninja's power of Life to summon a corrupted version of his Energy Dragon. When he got onto the Destiny's Bounty and fought both Cole and Jay, he used a combination of his ghost powers and Life to fire green Lightning bolts at Nya, crippling the autopilot, causing the ship to crash in a nearby forest.
Curseworld, Part II[]
When Lloyd returned from the Cursed Realm, he confronted Morro one last time and attacked with an energy blast, knocking the ghost warrior back.
Enkrypted[]
After Lloyd freed himself of his Vengestone chains, he used an energy blast to destroy the other ninja's chains. Once they escaped the "Hole," he used another energy blast to destroy the door.
Wishmasters[]
After Cole wished for Vengestone to make their powers stronger, Lloyd charged at some pirates with Life until it became uncontrollable, forcing him to break the chains with his power.
The Way Back[]
When the Ninja were confronting Nadakhan, Lloyd released Life at a pillar to distract the pirate captain for Kai and Cole to attack, only to fail until Jay distracted the djinn enough for the Green Ninja to hit the latter with a Life energy blast.
Dark Island Trilogy, Part 2[]
When fighting against Dogshank, Lloyd used Life Spinjitzu but the former broke through the tornado, something the Green Ninja thought was impossible but he eventually defeated her using a powerful Life energy blast.
The Message[]
When entering the ice cave, Lloyd uses Life for light. He then uses it again to power up the deactivated Titan Mech by welding the wires together and used Energy to power up its battery.
Awakenings[]
Lloyd used Life to battle the Ice Emperor, who he realized is Zane corrupted by the Scroll of Forbidden Spinjitzu.
Grief-Bringer[]
Lloyd used Life to blast Grief-Bringer, managing to get a direct hit on the dragon, and the latter loses most of his bones; however, the Skull of Hazza D'ur reconstructs the skeletal dragon.
Rising Ninja[]
During the Ritual of the Blood Moon, Lloyd used Life to attack Ras, but the tiger warrior dodges his attacks and used the Icon of the Source Dragon of Strength to deflect the ninja's energy blast and even knock him out of his Spinjitzu.
The Sword Shatters[]
During his fight with Zeatrix, Lloyd used Life to counter her elemental powers. Lloyd used an energy blast against Zeatrix's Shockwave and Surface Tension bomb.
Elements of Betrayal[]
Nokt used Life after obtaining it during the Tournament of the Sources. He used it several times to attack the Ninja in the Monastery of Gates, using it to both attack and counter both Ras and the Ninja. While battling Kai, Nokt used Life to blow him back as part of his Figment assault and when blowing the other Ninja away to prevent them from helping the Fire Ninja.
Chaos Unchained[]
Lloyd used Life to battle Drix, forcing the insect-like warrior to use the Blue Prismatic Blade, while fighting the rest of the Forbidden Five.
Chaos Reigns[]
After defeating Thunderfang, Lloyd felt a dizziness and attempted to use Life but his power short-circuited, which was due to the Source Dragons of Strength, Life, and Focus leaving the Council of Sources as punishment for waking the Arc Dragon of Focus against their will.
Symbol
Symbol[]
In the first seasons, the symbols of Life on Lloyd's ZX gi originally resembled a snake eating its tail. This symbol likely represents his connection to the Serpentine.
On Lloyd's Elemental kimono gi, the snake symbol has developed into a full snake head, possibly representing Lloyd's growth and journey to unlock his True Potential.
From the end of "Legacy of the Green Ninja" to "The Hands of Time", the symbol of Life on some of Lloyd's gis has changed into a dragon. The symbol likely represents Lloyd as one of Ninjago's protectors, just as dragons are said to protect certain objects or buildings in folktales.
The symbol of Life shown in the Tournament of the Sources resembles a lime colored eight-pointed star.

Trivia
Trivia[]
- The ninja have stated that Lloyd is more powerful than all of them combined.[30]
- Tommy Andreasen stated Lloyd (even without Golden Power) is still stronger than the other ninja by around 20%.[31]
- Cole stated in "The Oni and the Dragon" that Life is a combination of the four elements of Creation.[21][22] Lloyd is able to mimic the properties of the four elements:
- In "Game of Masks", as a light source, Lloyd created green-colored Fire.
- In "The Message", he created green-colored electricity (or Lightning) to charge the Titan Mech's battery.
- Aside from Water, Life seems to be one of the only three Elements that are capable of harming ghosts alongside Fire and Lightning, as when Lloyd and Morro were fighting between the realms, Morro was seen being knocked back by the Green Ninja's Life energy attacks.
- In several seasons, Life's symbol is the head of a dragon. This can be explained by the fact that Life and Creation were passed down from the dragons.
- Tommy Andreasen thinks the ability to become stronger from the presence of the other ninja is exclusive to Lloyd, rather than a trait inherent to Life.[32]
- However, Season 4 of Dragons Rising shows Life's power comes from Lloyds connection to others.[33]
- The name of this element was unclear before Dragons Rising season 4:
- initially, Lloyd's power was rarely named nor is he ever called "Elemental Master of Energy" in the show. The one time Lloyd or any character directly calls his power "Energy" is when he summons his Elemental Dragon while leaving Chen's Island. Tommy Andreasen said that in his opinion, calling Lloyd the "Master of Energy" would be incorrect and is not something that has been said in the show.[34][35] However, Lloyd does call himself the "Master of Energy" in his "Meet the Ninja" video. The subtitle for his section in the play guide for Choose the Path is "Lloyd (Green Ninja/Master of Energy)", a video on LEGO.com calls him "The Elemental Master of Energy,"[36] and a LEGO store description of set 71794 Lloyd and Arin's Ninja Team Mechs describes Lloyd's element as Energy.[37]
- Lloyd's Tournament of Sources suit, had the initials of "MOE" (short for "Master of Energy") on its sash, implying "Energy" is the name of Lloyd's element.
- Chen called Lloyd the Master of Power in "Ninja Roll", implying "Power" is another name for Lloyd's elemental power. However, Andreasen said that "Master Chen was a criminal and a liar. His word is hardly anything to consider canon,"[38] implying that "Power" is not an accurate term either.
- Lloyd's Elemental Power Mech implied that Lloyd's element was called "Power" due to the naming conventions of the Elemental Mechs aligning with Chen's label of this element, thought this set is non-canon.
- The vagueness of what exactly Lloyd's green power is meant to be is alluded to when Cole struggles to explain what it is in "The Oni and the Dragon".
- Roby (in the Source Tournament) as well as the Arc Dragon of Life called Lloyd the Elemental Master of Life. This is most likely due to the Green Ninja's connection to the Source Dragon of Life that was mentioned in "Beyond the Phantasm Cave," and to avoid confusion with the Source Dragon of Energy.[39]
- According to Glen Lakin, Roby called the element "Life" and not Energy because the City of Temples traveled across different realms for thousands of years, leading to their language being shaped by various cultures. For example, if there were a Master of Life Energy, some languages might drop "Energy" while others might forget the "Life".[16] This suggests that the element has different names depending on the culture and realms.
- "Vitality" is not an accurate name for Lloyd's power[40]
- initially, Lloyd's power was rarely named nor is he ever called "Elemental Master of Energy" in the show. The one time Lloyd or any character directly calls his power "Energy" is when he summons his Elemental Dragon while leaving Chen's Island. Tommy Andreasen said that in his opinion, calling Lloyd the "Master of Energy" would be incorrect and is not something that has been said in the show.[34][35] However, Lloyd does call himself the "Master of Energy" in his "Meet the Ninja" video. - When asked "Is Lloyd's elemental power officially life? And if so, does he have the ability to heal people?", Chris "Doc" Wyatt also replied "Hang on to this question for now." [41]
- Lloyd's green eyes from Season 8 onward are connected to his powers, as his eyes become black when he loses them. This was originally hinted at in the first chapter of the "could-be-canonical" novel, Way of the Departed, where Cole says "Lloyd’s eyes have started changing after Master Wu went missing. He trains alone so intensely, and he is really connecting with his powers ... whatever it is."
- Tommy Andreasen also said, "Strange things happen to your body when you hit puberty. I guess that’s especially true for an Elemental Master."[42]
- When his powers were removed in "Clues and Suspects", Lloyd's eyes remained green due to residual energy.[43]
- As of Season 8, Lloyd occasionally moves his hands in a circular motion while charging attacks. In addition, before Season 8, Lloyd mostly used his power to create energy spheres or concentrated beams, but from Season 8 and onwards, he seems to be more flexible in his attacks.
- In "Big Trouble, Little Ninjago", the ninja retain their powers after Lloyd loses his. This is a direct contrast to "Winds of Change", when the ninja's powers disappeared when Morro possessed Lloyd. This change is most likely due to the passage of time and Lloyd's growth causing the ninja's powers to function more independently from him.[44]
- Tommy Andreasen doesn't really consider Lloyd's power an element.[45]
- According to Andreasen in April 2022, he hopes we will never find the true meaning of Lloyd's element since it "would make it less special."[46]
- According to Tommy Andreasen, the power is unique to Lloyd because he is "the only natural born son in the lineage of FSM… with a prophecy to defeat the dark lord."[47]
- Ninjago: Dragons Rising would eventually contradict this statement as the series revealed there were multiple generations of Elemental Masters of Energy before Lloyd including the First Spinjitzu Master[4][3] and introduced dragons possessing the element.
- Additionally, in 2026, Andreasen revealed that there were "ideas" for Lloyd to "pass his powers on".[48]
- Life would seek a new host if Lloyd ever died.[49]
- The reason it didn't happen in "The Shatter Dragon" despite Thunderfang killing Lloyd was because his powers didn't passed to a different host when his soul was absorbed by Thunderfang until he died.
- When asked if each Source Dragon has an equivalent of Lloyd's power, Chris "Doc" Wyatt replied "Uh. Hmmm. Basically, yes."[50]
