Race of the Hunters
Race of the Hunters[]
Shortly after escaping from Dead's End with the help of Faith, formerly known as Heavy Metal, the Stranded ninja accidentally crash one of their Destiny's Wings, halting their escape. Although Kai and Faith manage to escape unscathed, a new engine is required for them to continue their search for the Dragon Armor. Fortunately, Faith notes that a Dragon Hunter outpost is not too far from where they were, and perhaps they might be able to scavenge an engine there.
Outside the outpost, Faith insists that the facility was poorly guarded and that they could easily sneak in and grab a spare engine then leave without attracting any attention. Unfortunately, Faith's belief seemed to be misplaced, for not long after speaking her plan, a trio of guards approached from behind and demanded to know what was going on. Hesitantly, Faith claimed that the ninja were her prisoners and that she had come to the outpost in search of a new engine - a request the guards acknowledged. Under the watchful eyes of the Dragon Hunters, Faith and the ninja are provided with a new engine, though one of the hunters demands for the ninja to be turned over to him. Faith refuses the hunter's request and proposes a race instead, with the winner taking custody of the ninja.
Some time later, the race begins between the dragon hunters and all the stranded ninja, save for Kai who remained with Faith as collateral to ensure that the other ninja would not escape instead. As the stranded ninja begin to overtake the hunters on their own racetrack, the irritated hunters decry the ninja for "cheating" and decide to even the odds by playing dirty as well! In a swift motion, the hunters eliminate Cole and Zane from the race, leaving only the fighter piloted by Wu and Jay. Angered by the sight of his friends being eliminated, Kai sneaked away from the viewing platform and deeper into the outpost's garage.
Back on the racetrack, Jay utilizes his Elemental Lightning to disable one of the three hunters' fighters, frying the engine and leaving it dead in the middle of the track. Unable to swerve out of the way in time, the other two hunters crash into their ally, leaving Jay and Wu free to clear the finish line of the race! Impressed by the ninja's racing ability, the guards hold true to their word and allow for Faith to retain custody of the ninja. As the group departs, one of the guards admits his feeling that something was off and ordered another guard to inform Iron Baron. As the pair make it down to the garage however, they discover what Kai had been up to as they are greeted by thick clouds of smoke pouring from their remaining vehicles.
Elsewhere, Faith and the Stranded Ninja complete the repairs to their Destiny's Wings and resume their journey across the desert in search for the Dragon Armor.

Trivia[]
- Although Jet Jack appears in the comic, the character cannot be her, because she was unaware of Faith's true appearance until the events of The Weakest Link.
