After losing Zane in the final battle with the Overlord, Kai, Cole, Jay, and Lloyd went their separate ways. However, with a mysterious invitation to Master Chen's Tournament of Elements, hope that Zane is alive appears. The four ninja unite, hoping to find their friend on Chen's island and encounter other warriors with similar powers.

Kai, Jay, and Cole return to the noodle shop after discovering a message from Master Chen and assess the damage caused to the establishment during a brawl with bandits. The manager curses and blames the ninjas for the incident. Cole explains that they don't have any money on them, but the team can pay for the damages in other ways. The owner sends a team of heroes to wash dishes. The job proves too monotonous, and Jay suggests using Spinjitzu to speed up the process. The ninjas quickly clean up a mountain of dishes, but in the process, they make a mess in the kitchen. When the manager discovers the kitchen is in disrepair, he becomes even more furious and sends the ninjas away. The heroes try to find a way to make amends, and Cole comes up with an idea. The next morning, the team of warriors shows the manager the food court, where they have installed a new, signature grill with an alarm clock using Spinjitzu. The owner is delighted with the gift and forgives the ninjas.
Storm Signals[]
Ninja travel by steamboat to Chen's Island to participate in the Tournament of Elements. Kai is unhappy about the trip, and Jay says he's grumpy because he's already gotten into a fight with Karlof. Bolobo approaches Kai, trying to intimidate his future opponent, while Garmadon, Cole, and Lloyd inspect the ship. Sensei warns the team that all the assembled masters will fight to the death, each possessing dangerous elemental powers. Lloyd notices an approaching storm, and Garmadon orders the ninjas to protect the ship from lightning and provide light for the captain. The other elemental masters also try to help, much to the former Overlord's surprise. The ninjas manage to save the ship from a developing tornado, which the ninja team stops with Spinjitzu.
