Plot[]

Return of Garmadon[]

The ninja are relaxing in the monastery when Nya runs in with news of Garmadon's return. The heroes head to Jamanakai Village, where they find the villagers scattering in all directions. Then they see the shadow of their enemy, who turns out to be Lloyd Garmadon. He threatens to release the snakes unless they give him all the candy in town, and displays a pair of toy snakes. The ninja deal with him by hanging him on a sign outside a store. The boy threatens revenge, and the team laughs at him, leaving with the candy they bought from the villagers.

Snakes on the Brain[]

Cole discovers a note from a mysterious stranger offering information about the Hypnobrai's plan in exchange for gold. Deciding it's too obvious to be a trap, the Earth Ninja makes his way through the tall grass to the designated location. There, he is attacked by snakes under the command of Skales. Although Cole tries to avoid eye contact, Skales manages to outsmart and hypnotize him. He tries to extract vital information from the ninja, but even under hypnosis, Cole refuses to reveal the ninja's secrets. Then the Serpentine General decides to change his plan. When the other ninja arrive to rescue their friend, Cole attacks them. He uses the Scythe of Quakes and transforms it into an all-terrain vehicle. The ninja are unable to counter their hypnotized comrade's technique, but soon Cole smells the terrible smell of the food Kai brought and comes to his senses. Together, the heroes defeat the snakes and destroy their hideout.

Clean Sweep[]

The ninja, under Wu's instructions, clean up while Jay gets ready for a date. Suddenly, a Hypnobrai snake appears and attempts to hypnotize Jay. However, Jay uses his mirror to ward off the attack. Eventually, the self-hypnotized serpentine begins cleaning up, while the ninja relax in front of the TV and wish Jay luck.

• The Scholastic edition includes pages from the book "Ninja vs. Fangpyre."
• The comic "Return of Garmadon" retells the events of the Jamanakai village scene from the beginning of the episode "Rise of the Snakes."
• Based on the illustrations, which show the ninja already wearing ZX suits, the story "Snakes on the Brain" takes place after the episode "The Snake King."
• In the comic "Clean Sweep," the ninja are depicted in casual clothes and a room similar to Lou's House, but the task of cleaning them is given by Wu, not Cole's father.
• The description of the Hypnobrai clan in the book is copied from the LEGO website.
