Sir Fangar[]
Sir Fangar was once a young Saber-Tooth Tiger who lived among the ground-born tribes of ancient Chima. During this time, Fluminox and the other Phoenix lived on Mount Cavora. The Phoenix acted as teachers and guides for the tribes, sharing their knowledge and helping the Tribes of Chima learn. Fangar was one of Fluminox's most talented students. However, as he learned more from the Phoenix, he became increasingly ambitious. Eventually, Fangar began to believe that ruling all of Chima was what he had left to do. He took the name Sir Fangar and united the Saber-Tooth Tigers with other tribes. Together, they formed the army that would later become known as the Hunters.
Fluminox and the Phoenix Elders eventually decided that the only way to stop Sir Fangar and his army was to perform the Great Illumination, a powerful event meant to restore balance and end the conflict. Fluminox had an important role in the Great Illumination because he was supposed to become the Ninth Phoenix needed to complete it. However, at that time, Fluminox's son Flinx was still a baby. Fluminox could not bring himself to leave his son, so he chose not to complete his role.
Because Fluminox did not take his place as the ninth Phoenix, the Great Illumination failed to fully work. Instead of healing the Hunters, it froze them deep inside the Gorge of Eternal Depth. The incomplete Illumination also caused lasting damage to the Hunters. When they eventually returned to Chima, they possessed their dangerous icy powers and suffered from the effects of their long imprisonment. Sir Fangar blamed Fluminox for what happened to him and the Hunters.

During the final battle, Sir Fangar invaded Mount Cavora and finally faced Fluminox again. Sir Fangar revealed the truth about Fluminox's failure to Flinx, forcing Fluminox to admit that he had not fulfilled his destiny during the first Great Illumination. However, when Sir Fangar threatened Flinx, Fluminox immediately fought to protect his son. Fluminox battled his former student, but Sir Fangar and the Hunters eventually overwhelmed him. Later, the Second Great Illumination was performed. It healed Chima and restored balance. It also healed Sir Fangar and the Hunters, freeing them from their evil, their icy condition, and the damage caused by their long imprisonment.
