History
History[]
Trial by Fire[]
This is Tormak's debut episode. He is present when Eris, Laval, and Cragger arrive at the Phoenix Temple. Tormak convinces Fluminox to allow Laval and Cragger to take the Trial by Fire, and later says they had great spirit and would (probably) make them proud. In the third test, Tormak explains that they never betray friends, to which Fluminox adds "and you never shall, Tormak".
The Crescent[]
Eris goes to the Phoenix Temple to inform Fluminox that all the tribes of Chima need Fire Chi, although Fluminox refuses. Tormak once again steps in for the ground-borns and convinces Fluminox to give the tribes of Chima a chance to prove their trust to him.
After the Heroes of Chima passed Fluminox' test, the Phoenix Temple appears on the crescent. There, Tormak warns Laval to stay back, before he meets Li'Ella. Tormak then again knocks Laval down as he notices the lion's interest in his daughter, and tells Fluminox he just wants to protect her.
Fired Up![]
Tormak is present when Fluminox asks Laval and his friends to "hang-out" with Flinx for a while.
Cool and Collected[]
Tormak returns to the Crescent with Fluminox and the Phoenix to inform the heroes about the tunnels. When Eris shares her panthar vision, Tormak notes that this "creature" is not known to them. Fluminox reveals Tormak's past as a Tunnel Cat, the only warrior left. Tormak's time in the caves left him attuned to them, and now he senses the Hunters run free in them again.
The Snowball Effect[]
As Eris comes to Fluminox and Tormak, concerned about her visions, Tormak explains that her visions come from all over, the past and the future. Laval comes in saying he's taking Li'Ella on a tour of the Lion City, and Tormak wonders what was that about.
Later, in the middle of Sir Fangar and the Sabertooths' attack on the Lion Temple, Tormak comes to the rescue, fiercely fighting the whole sabertooth tribe on his own, and then gives fire CHI to the lion soldiers in the place. After the fight ends, Laval, Flinx and Li'Ella enter on the Lion Legend Beast. Li'Ella runs to her father and asks if everything is okay and supports him. She tells the story of the Tunnel Cats: "In the ancient battles, Tormak led a team of special cave fighter called the Tunnel Cats, they were the toughest warriors in all of ancient Chima. The ones who chased the Hunters through their treacherous caverns, that's where he saved me. After the Hunters burned my village, the most savage battles of old took place in those caves. The Tunnel Cats triumphed but at great cost, Tormak, my dad, it the only one left. The last Tunnel Cat." Tormak leaves as he says that he came to protect Li'Ella, and now she's safe, so he returns to the phoenix.
The King Thing[]
With the Lion City being under attack again, Li'Ella runs to tell Fluminox and Tormak, but Tormak claims that they can't help the groundborns with every little problem, but Li'Ella argues that it's more than a little problem, and reminds her father that he is a groundborn too, and so they fly off to help the lions. When Fluminox doubts it again, Tormak convinces him it "won't hurt to fly over and take a look".
Getting to the city, Tormak goes to close the tunnels with his special bombs and tells Li'Ella to stay in the bastion. Unfortunately, Li'Ella doesn't listen and go to help in the lion city, and Sir Fangar captures her.
A Very Slippery Slope[]
Tormak joins the heroes to save everyone captured by Sir Fangar, including Li'Ella, claiming Sir Fangar will feel the rage of a father, and his misery will echo across the ages.
After they free everyone, Li'Ella is nowhere to be found. Rushing again to the trophy room, Laval and Tormak find Flinx unleashing his "spark". The two grab Flinx and run out of the mountain. The Ice Mountain ends up falling into the archway. Tormak shows deep concern for his daughter, looking down to try and spot her, but Flinx tells them that she wasn't there- but getting ready to a wedding to Sir Fangar.
The Artifact[]
All of Chima looks for Li'Ella. Drowning in grief, Tormak searches the map of Chima looking for Li'Ella. Fluminox tells him, "we share your pain", adding that their journey together is a long one, and Tormak feels it too. Retelling the Story Before the Great Story, he shows Tormak he knows how he feels, and calls him his savior, healer, and friend.
Frustrated and furious, Tormak decides to look in the Hunter's tunnels. There, Sir Fangar finds and blackmails him- asking for the Artifact in exchange for Li'Ella.
Tormak considers this offer. Looking at her double-headed axe reminds him how he rescued and raised Li'Ella. All of his memories drive him to tears. Looking at the drawing she made of the two, Tormak finally decides to steal the Artifact, as he can't bear the thought that he'll never see Li'Ella again.
After meeting with Sir Fangar and rethinking, Tormak backs up from his decision, but looking at the drawing Li'Ella made of him and her again, he runs after the Hunters, willing to do whatever it takes to get his daughter back.
Fluminox tries to change Tormak's mind as he goes to give the Artifact to the Hunters, but Tormak says that's for Li'Ella and that he has no choice. When the artifact explodes, Tormak becomes the panther from Eris' visions as he's burned, but so is the drawing of him and Li'Ella.
Tormak rushes to get Li'Ella but sees that Sir Fangar tricked him. Laval and Eris follow him, but then the Flying Phoenix Fire Temple starts chasing him. He runs away to the Outlands ashamed, Li'Ella still on his mind.
The Phoenix Has Landed[]
Tormak is now in the Outlands, protected by the Artifact's energy from the Predator Plants. He speaks out his situation. Lost and by himself, he only wanted to save his daughter, but is now hunted by both the Phoenix and the Hunters.
A Spark of Hope[]
Tormak is shown again in the Outlands, clutching his chest tightly as he's in pain. At the end of the episode, Tormak lets the energy of the Artifact out, with a great CHI-up that is visible all the way up to Mount Cavora.
Wings of Fire[]
Tormak is found in the Outlands by Li'Ella, Laval, Cragger, Eris and Lavertus. Li'Ella wants to help her father, but he refuses and claims he needs to help them. Tormak then CHIs-up, revealing the map to the Fire Wing Harnesses. Lavertus quickly copies the map, and Tormak explains that when the Artifact exploded, it burned itself into his essence. In the first Fire Wings location beneath the Eagle Spire, Tormak activates the Phoenix' system with the power of the Artifact. After Eris succeeded in earning the Fire Wings, Tormak mentions he sensed something different and deeper about her. The heroes then split up to find the Fire Wings, Li'Ella rides with Tormak, saying that she'll never let him out of her sight again.
The Heart of Cavora[]
Laval and Cragger meet up with Tormak and Li'Ella in the Rhino Quarry, where Tormak unleashes the power of the Artifact and breaks the Rhinos' unbreakable stone, to reveal the seventh Fire Wings. Cragger invites them to meet together with Eris, but Tormak denies, claiming they have something else they must take care of.
Later it is revealed that Tormak and Li'Ella fixed the Flaming Bastion, as they come to assist the 8 heroes to get to Mount Cavora, clearing the sky full of vultures for them. The Great Illumination occurs and heals all of Chima, and Tormak return to his tiger appearance. Now he knows Li'Ella can live in peace in Chima, and so can he.
Relationships
Relationships[]
Fluminox[]
Tormak and Fluminox are best friends. Tormak is a trusted advisor and friend to Fluminox, who consults with him on everything, from running the Phoenix city to dealing with his son, Flinx. Tormak is extremely loyal to Fluminox, and helps him to understand things like laughter and other foreign concepts. They are usually shown side by side throughout season 3, up until the end of episode 37, where Tormak steals the Artifact and betrays Fluminox. After the Great Illumination, the two are on good terms again, as Tormak sees the gratitude in the eyes of Fluminox as he ascends to the sun.
Thousands of year ago, the Hunters attacked the Tiger village, Tormak fled to Mount Cavora along with his tribe, and were met with open arms by the Phoenix. At some point, Tormak passed the Trial By Fire, proved his loyalty to the Phoenix and was appointed as Fluminox's advisor. They lived thousands of years together atop Mount Cavora.
Inside the Phoenix Temple, Laval and Cragger want to earn Fire CHI, but Fluminox forbids them. Tormak asks Fluminox why not let the heroes prove themselves worthy like he did once. Fluminox answers that they'll never survive the trial, but Cragger mentions again that they're heroes, and Fluminox allows them to take the Trial by Fire. During the trial, Tormak cheers Fluminox up and says that Laval and Cragger have great spirit and would (probably) make them proud. In the third test, Tormak explains that they never betray friends, to which Fluminox adds "and you never shall, Tormak".
In the Phoenix Temple atop Mount Cavora, Eris asks for more Fire CHI, but Fluminox claims that they can't provide Fire CHI for everyone, as they are cautious after the tragedy with the Hunters. Eris yells back at him that it was ages ago and they desperately need Fire CHI. Tormak calmly translates Eris' claims to Fluminox, suggesting him to let them prove their trust to him, and Fluminox gives the tribes the task of guarding the Crescent.
At the Crescent, Tormak repeatedly knocks down Laval as he seems interested in Li'Ella, causing Fluminox to tell him, his good friend, that they're here to protect. Tormak politely tells him that this is what he's doing, protecting his daughter.
Tormak comes with Fluminox to ask Laval and his friends to "babysit" Flinx.
On their way to the Crescent, Tormak and Fluminox hold hands during the shaky flight conducted by Foltrax, Firox and Frax. They arrive at the Crescent with their heads spinning, but recover quickly. They walk with Eris, Laval, Li'Ella and Flinx, as Eris asks them about her panther vision, both the tiger and the phoenix not knowing anything on the matter.
Tormak lifts the Artifact and spins it as Fluminox explains it's the map of Chima and underneath it there's a cavern system, used by the Hunters thousands of years ago to launch formidable attacks. Tormak continues Fluminox, and says the Hunters are using the caverns again. The two continue each others sentences as one, saying the caves are cruel and the ones fighting there are worse, Tormak is attuned to the caves after spending so much time there, and he feels them in there. Fluminox then reveals the Legend Beasts in order to assist the Tribes of Chima against this new threat.
Eris talks to Fluminox and Tormak about her troubling recurring visions. Fluminox explains to Eris that her visions come from all that is, Tormak translates this to confused Eris that the visions come from everywhere, even the past and the future. Eris asks them to make it stop, but Fluminox says they can't do that, they did not give her this power, but merely awakened it.
Fluminox and Tormak discuss near the Artifact, as Li'Ella and Lundor come in running, Li'Ella yells that the Lions are under attack and demands they assist them. The group gets in the Blazing Bastion, but Fluminox says that this is not their battle, even though Flinx is in the city. Tormak tells Fluminox that it "would no hurt" to fly over and "take a look", and manages to convince Fluminox to go into the battle.
Above the Lion City, the Phoenix pilots enter the fight with a crazy flight, which causes Tormak and Fluminox anxious again. Later Tormak tells Fluminox to drop him off to close the caverns.
Tormak is deeply broken after Sir Fangar kidnapped his daughter, Li'Ella. Fluminox comes and tells Tormak that they share his pain, and their journey together is a long one, where Tormak is the one who lifted Fluminox's spirits up, Tormak simply answers that the feeling is mutual. Fluminox proceeds to tell the story before the Great Story and says that his failure as the ninth Phoenix is the thing that haunted him the most, but Tormak always understood Fluminox's decision. Fluminox still has his reason for not joining the Illumination, but also still has regrets. Tormak claims he would have done the same, saying that protecting the ones they love, is never cause for regret. Fluminox says he always trusts Tormak, and calls him his savior, healer and friend.
Later, Fluminox is alarmed outside to see that Tormak is delivering the Artifact to the Hunters outside the Phoenix Temple. He runs after Tormak, frantically asking him what's he doing, Tormak just answers he's sorry and that's for Li'Ella. Fluminox yells at him to return, as the Artifact can't be taken outside Phoenix territory, Tormak says he has no choice and continues towards the Hunters. Fluminox warns him for the last time, saying that the Artifact will protect itself, and tells Tormak to stop before it's too late, but Tormak doesn't listen. The Artifact explodes with a burning fire, and Tormak is burnt too, turning into the panther from Eris' visions. He runs away, although Fluminox calls him to come back, Fluminox asks himself: "Oh Tormak, old friend, how could you?".
The Flaming Phoenix Bastion comes after the furious Tormak. Fluminox commands to find and seize the panther, nothing else matters, and that Tormak will pay for his actions that night.
Fluminox is devastated after Tormak's betrayal, as he tells Flinx that Tormak was his most trusted friend, who promised to protect them, but now doomed them. After Fluminox tells Flinx what happened, Fluminox sighs heavily, his spirit crushed. Flinx asks him if he's okay, Fluminox weakly answers that he has not cried in thousands of years, not since his siblings lost the Illumination, but somehow, Tormak's betrayal is worse.
Fluminox still grieves Tormak's betrayal, as he says that there is no way to save Chima, because his "once noble guard Tormak" stole the map to the Fire Wings.
After the Great Illumination as Fluminox ascends to the sun, he gives a last nod of gratitude to Tormak, a thanks to him for helping to make the Great Illumination.
Li'Ella[]
Li'Ella is Tormak's adopted daughter. He rescued her as a cub after her village was destroyed by the hunters. Tormak shows that he's very protective of her. He cares very much for her and only wants to just keep her safe. When Laval met Li'Ella, Tormak strongly disliked his daughter being with him. Later on, it seems that Tormak accepted Li'Ella and Laval's relationship, as he is seen in "Merry Chima Everyone!" smiling at them holding hands.
In ancient Chima, Tormak led a team of special cave fighters called the Tunnel Cats, the ones who chased the hunters through their treacherous caverns. After the first war, Tormak was the last Tunnel Cat. He continued to fulfill his duty in the dark tunnels.
That was then, Tormak heard the cry of a little lion cub, that almost fell into the gorge. Tormak caught it at the last second. His plan was to take it back to the lions, but to his surprise, he wasn't able to let the cub go. Tormak felt all the loneliness he suffered from in the tunnels, he couldn't go back to that feeling.
Tormak kept the little lioness and called her Li'Ella. She returned his love the way only a child can, and Tormak lost his heart to her. He taught her everything he knew about fighting and self-defense. Li'Ella also taught Tormak something- how to feel happy again, how to smile and have fun. Li'Ella saved Tormak's soul from drowning in sorrow and Tormak knows it. There isn't a thing he wouldn't do for her.
After Laval and his friends protected the Crescent, the Phoenix Temple is revealed and Laval runs to welcome them, but Tormak tells Laval to back up, knowing his daughter Li'Ella comes too. Li'Ella accidentally knocks Laval down but is surprised to see another Lion.
Tormak shows his fatherly love for Li'Ella when Laval saw her. He hits Laval and even tells him to stay away from her.
Later, Li'Ella goes on a tour of the Lion City with Laval, this Tormak hears as Laval runs to tell Eris earlier. As Tormak cares for his daughter's safety, he checks on the Lion City in the middle of the Hunters' take over the throne room. Tormak then defeats all of the Hunters with the help of the lions. As Li'Ella and Laval return, Li'Ella runs to her father and asks if everything is okay and supports him. She tells the story of the Tunnel Cats, and how her father is the last Tunnel Cat, she seems to know the story very well and knows how uncomfortable Tormak feels about it. Tormak leaves as he says that he came to protect Li'Ella, and now she's safe, so he returns to the phoenix.
When the Lion City being under attack again, Li'Ella runs to tell Fluminox and Tormak, but Tormak claims that they can't help the groundborns with every little problem, but Li'Ella argues that it's more than a little problem and reminds her father that he is a groundborn too, and so they fly off to help the lions.
Getting to the city, Tormak goes to close the tunnels and tells Li'Ella to stay in the bastion. Unfortunately, Li'Ella doesn't listen and go to help in the lion city. As the events unfold, Sir Fangar captures Li'Ella.
After Li'Ella was kidnapped by Sir Fangar, the heroes plan a way to break through Sir Fangar's trophy room and get everyone out. Tormak joins as well, claiming Sir Fangar will feel the rage of a father, and his misery will echo across the ages.
After they freed everyone, Li'Ella was nowhere to be found. The Ice Mountain ended up falling into the archway. Tormak showed deep concern for his daughter, looking down to try and spot her, but Flinx told them that she wasn't there- but getting ready to a wedding to Sir Fangar.
All of Chima looks for Li'Ella. Drowning in grief, Tormak searches the map of Chima looking for Li'Ella, he decides to look in the Hunter's tunnels, there Sir Fangar finds and blackmails him- asking for the Artifact in exchange for Li'Ella.
Tormak considers this offer, looking at her double-headed axe reminds him how he rescued and raised Li'Ella. all of his memories drove him to tears. Looking at the drawing she made of the two, Tormak finally decides to steal the Artifact, he can't bear the thought he'll never see Li'Ella again.
When the artifact exploded, Tormak was burned and became the panther from Eris' visions, but so does the drawing of him and Li'Ella.
Tormak rushes to get Li'Ella but sees that Sir Fangar tricked him. He runs away to the Outlands, Li'Ella still on his mind.
Li'Ella is rescued from the wedding to Sir Fangar by Laval and his friends. Later on, she mentions to Laval how she can't wait to tell her father about everything she experienced with Laval, but Laval is skeptical since Tormak became panther and ran into the Outlands, getting a worried look from Li'Ella.
Returning to the Cresent, Li'Ella runs frantically to Fluminox, desperate to understand what happened to Tormak from Fluminox' side. But since the Hunters' caught Flinx, Fluminox let the matter slip until they get his son to safety, although he is sorry and claiming they won't be allowed to let Tormak roam free.
After the heroes are freed with the help of Lavertus, all of Chima is now frozen, but Fluminox says the only way to defeat the Hunters is impossible since Tormak stole the Artifact. Li'Ella is confident she'll find Tormak and he will help them, but worries about her father's state, fearing that he's all alone and in pain. Laval and his friends try to light up her mood, saying they all have made it through dark times- and so will Tormak.
While Laval, Li'Ella, Eris, Cragger and Lavertus follow the light into the Outlands, Li'Ella feels aches in her chest, claiming that as they get closer to the light the pain grows. They discover the light was coming from Tormak's CHI-Up, caused by the power of the Artifact, now burned inside Tormak.
Li'Ella shows her concern towards her father, but Tormak tells her that he needs to help them, and not the opposite.
After finding the first Fire Wings, the heroes split up, and Li'Ella decides she'll go with her father, saying she'll never let him out of her sight again, showing her great love for Tormak and his well-being.
Later, Tormak and Li'Ella went together to find Fire Wings, together they found two. Later they went to fix the Phoenix Flying Fire Temple and helped the main eight heroes to pass their way into Mount Cavora.
After the Great Illumination, Tormak and Li'Ella landed on Mount Cavora, Li'Ella asked Tormak desperately if their friends are okay, and he assures her that this Illumination was successful.

Trivia
Trivia[]
- Tormak's forehead stripes and beard are missing in his tiger minifigure form.
- According to Tommy Andreasen, no one is tougher than Tormak.[3]
- Tormak and Fluminox are considered best friends.[4]
- Tormak, the other Tigers and Li'Ella might have went on to live with the Lion Tribe after the Phoenix disappeared.[5]
- According to the book The Battle for Chima, it was Tormak who advised King Fluminox not to intervene when the Crawlers attacked Mount Cavora.
- He has many similarities to Zilvar, another character from the Wyldness.
- Both are tigers who have a strong bond with a loved one (Mei for Zilvar and Li'Ella for Tormak) before losing them (Mei's death for Zilvar and Li'Ella's kidnapping by Fangar for Tormak).
- Both spiral and succumb to the temptations of their enemies (corruption by the Weapon of Desolation for Zilvar and blackmail by Sir Fangar for Tormak).
- Both end up briefly turning against their allies to briefly further the interest of the very enemy manipulating them (Zilvar fighting the ninja and Tormak stealing the Artifact to bring it to Fangar).
- Both of these decisions backfire and leave them worse off than they were before (Zilvar feeling shameful and guilt-ridden for indirectly causing Lloyd's death, and Tormak getting incinerated).
- Tormak's name is inscribed on the Tiger memorial stone in "A Frozen Scar." However, it is unknown why his name is on the stone.
- Furthermore, the flashback of the episode takes place decades prior to ninjago: Dragons Rising while the time period of Legends of Chima is around the same as Season 5: Possession.
- It is possible that he is considered dead by the tribe because he lived in the Phoenix Temple for thousands of years without others knowing.
