The Old Tongue is an ancient language in the realms of Ninjago and the Never-Realm.

History

The Splinter in the Blind Man's Eye[]

After explaining the symbol and origins of the element of Ice to Clancee, Lloyd turns his attention to a string of text on the sealed doors of the Hanging Temple that he recognizes as being written in the Old Tongue.

Fire Maker[]

While telling Lloyd how to get to the Castle of Ice, Sorla said that the safest way to past the mountains is called Mala-Wojira in the Old Tongue. When Lloyd questioned what Mala-Wojira meant, Sorla replied that the name stands for "Wojira's Wrath."

Masters Never Quit[]

After escaping from a Lava Monster, Wu and the others found themselves in front of the entrance to the Heart of the Mountain, with Wu recognizing that the language featured on the doors was in the Old Tongue.

An Issue of Trust[]

After folding the Dragon Form scroll, Wu realized that the writing on the scroll was actually in the Old Tongue, despite having previously dismissed it as not being the case.

  • According to the "could-be-canon" novel The Splinter in the Blind Man's Eye, Wu made Lloyd study his oldest scrolls which were written in the Old Tongue.
