The Crystalized Whip

Overview

The Crystalized Whip (also known as The Crystal Whip) is a remix of "The Weekend Whip", the theme song for Ninjago. It was used in the intro for the fifteenth and final season of the series. It was arranged by Jay Vincent, Michael Kramer, Brian Rivlin, and Daniel Markovich.[1] As revealed in The Fold's YouTube channel on October 3, 2022, Ninjago fans were invited to participate in a fan choir, in which they are required to record themselves singing the song with the voice of Dan Castady, the rhythm guitarist and lead singer of the band. Submissions for the fan choir opened on the aforementioned date until October 17, 2022. Due to technical issues, it was reopened on March 28, 2023 until April 7.[2]

The remix was released on YouTube on May 5, 2023.

It's time for training
We're getting started
Whoa-oh-oh-oh, it's on, you know

And we wanna see
See you whip and shout it
Whoa-oh-oh-oh, we rock, you roll

They say, go slow
And everything just stands so still
We say, go go!
We're ready for the fight, we know the drill
(You're gonna see us rip into it, just)

Jump up (jump up!)
Kick back (kick back!)
Whip around
And spin
(Go ninja! Go, go, ninja!)

Jump up (jump up!)
Kick back (kick back!)
Whip around
And spin
(Go ninja! Go, go, ninja!)

Monday morning
We feel defeated
Whoa-oh-oh-oh (whoa-oh-oh-oh), seems so long ago
(Seems so long ago)

Tuesday's comin' (Tuesday's comin')
We just keep on beatin' (just keep on beatin')
Whoa-oh-oh-oh (whoa-oh-oh-oh), til we're in our zone

They say (they say), no no (no no)
We don't wanna sit around no more
(You're gonna see us rip into it, just)

Jump up kick back whip around and spin
And then we jump back, do it again
Ninja! Go! Ninja! Go!
Come on, come on - we're gonna do it again
We just jump up kick back whip around and spin
And then we jump back, do it again
Ninja! Go! Ninja! Go!
Come on, come on - and do the Weekend Whip
(Yeah!)

Jump up
Kick back
Whip around
And spin

Jump up (Jump up)
Kick back (Kick back)
Whip around (Whip around)
And spin (And spin)

Jump up (Jump up)
Kick back (Kick back)
Whip around (Whip around)
And spin (And spin)

Jump up (Jump up)
Kick back (Kick back)
Whip around (Whip around)
And spin (And spin)

Jump up (jump up!) kick back whip around and spin (kick back!)
And then we jump back, do it again
(Jump up!) (Whip around)
Ninja! Go! Ninja! Go!
(And spin!)
Come on, come on - we're gonna do it again
We just jump up (jump up!) kick back whip around and spin (kick back!)
And then we jump back, do it again
(Whip around)
Ninja! Go! Ninja! Go!
(And spin!)
Come on, come on - and do the Weekend Whip
(Yeah!)

(Ninja, ninja, hey ho, ninja)
(Jump up! Kick back!) Do it again! (Whip around!)
Jump up kick back whip around and spin
And when they see us just go!

Trivia

Trivia[]

  • "The Crystalized Whip" is the first remix to include a fan choir, as revealed in The Fold's YouTube channel.
  • The FOLD are not credited for "The Crystalized Whip" in the credits of Crystalized as most of its production was done by the show's composers.
  • "The Crystalized Whip" succeeded "The Weekend Whip (Michael AM 2014 Remix)" as the longest Weekend Whip remix.
  • It combines the lyrics of "The Weekend Whip" with the tune of the overture. This makes it the only Weekend Whip to have the overture involved in some manner that is actually featured in the show. The only other version that includes the overture is the Piano Whip.
  • "The Crystalized Whip" is heard in Ninjago - Dream Team.
  • This remix took the longest to be released, as it took almost a year to be released on music platforms since it was originally heard in the show.
  • There is no version of this Weekend Whip without the fan choir, meaning that this version can easily have two variants.
  • When the original four Ninja jump up, kick back, whip around and spin to get their Dragon Forms, a grand instrumental orchestra plays, and it sounds like it's meant to fit in after the fan choir part ends, meaning that it might've been cut for time.
  • All Weekend Whips that go through the days Monday to Friday complete the whole week. This is the only Weekend Whip to only cover Monday and Tuesday. Like the grand instrumental orchestra, the rest might've been cut for time.
