Fighting Techniques[]

Trapped within Rock-Bottom, deep within Shintaro Mountain, Cole, Vania, and Wu have made their acquaintance with the Lowly, a quartet of failed adventurers. As the group prepares to find a way out of Rock-Bottom to defeat Vangelis, Vania's father and the wicked king of Shintaro, Adam, the Lowly's Giant Spider, alerts the group that more of his kin were approaching. Plundar explained to the newcomers that Rock-Bottom is quite a boring place, and to pass the time, they take turns defeating any Giant Spiders that venture nearby to attack them, keeping track of each individual's victories.

When Plundar began to roll his dice to determine who would confront the incoming spiders this time, Adam knocked away the dice and emphasized that it wasn't one or a few spiders this time, but rather the entire horde. Korgran laughed in response, noting that more spiders meant more points for their game! He then began to tell a tale from his time back home in Metalonia where he defeated an entire horde of Skreemers with the help of his axe! The axe that...definitely did not talk also. Cole and Vania however were unimpressed with Korgran's feat, noting that Skreemers were much smaller than Shintaro's giant spiders, which also possessed eight long legs each. Upon hearing this, Fungus scoffed, dismissing long legs as anything to be frightened of.

Fungus then told of a time where he was attacked by a horde of Treehorns in Birchwood Forest, but easily defeated them with his Magic, casting climbing lichen to effortlessly defeat the beasts! Cole then turned towards Wu and whispered his opinion that the Lowly were full of themselves. Plundar now boasted of his own bravery, insisting he once defeated a Grundle by stealing all of the creature's teeth without it noticing! At this point, Cole had enough and called out the Lowly's stories for their exaggerations before suggesting that instead of fighting off approaching horde as individuals, they should instead work together as a team.

Since there was only one way in or out of Rock-Bottom, the group were able to devise a clever strategy to defeat the giant spiders. Wu would first slide beneath them at strike them from their undersides with his staff, hurling them across the air. As they flew, Korgran would then knock them with his axe, that did not talk, towards Cole. The Ninja of Earth would then use his Spinjitzu to strike at the spiders, herding them towards Fungus who then created a wall of fire with his magic. As expected, the spiders grew wary of their combative foes and ventured off in search of easier prey, heading for Plundar and Vania who ran into another corridor. When the spiders seemingly cornered their prey, Plundar used a rope of silk spun by Adam like a lasso and sailed over the spiders with Vania. Once they were safe, Cole used his powers over Earth to collapse the corridor, trapping the horde of giant spiders within. With the giant arachnids buried, the group continued their search for a way out of Rock-Bottom.

Trivia

Trivia[]

  • Out of all the stories told by the Lowly in this comic, Plundar's seems the least likely to be truthful, given that grundles were extinct long before the start of the series. However, he could have encountered one of the smaller, similar beasts encountered by Morro in "Ghost Story" and mistaken it for a grundle.
Errors

Errors[]

  • Adam is called Charlie in the comic. This is because his name was previously going to be Charlie.[1]
