Overview
Morro is a former Elemental Master of Wind and Master Wu's former student, who once believed he was destined to become the Green Ninja. After the Second Serpentine War, Morro escaped from the Cursed Realm. Intending to find the Realm Crystal hidden in the First Spinjitzu Master's tomb, Morro possessed Lloyd Garmadon, as only a Spinjitzu Master could locate the tomb. After a long journey, Morro abandoned Lloyd's body and obtained the Crystal, and freed his master in an effort to curse the Sixteen Realms. Upon the defeat of the Preeminent, Morro was seized from one of its tentacles. Wu attempted to save him, but Morro ultimately realized that he was beyond saving, giving Wu the Crystal before letting go and dissolving in the sea.
Months after his death, When Cole accidentally opened the Departed Realm, Morro's spirit escaped the realm and possessed his respective statue in the museum. Upon hearing Yang's plan to have the other revived villains exact vengeance, Morro set off to find Wu and tell him of what was happening. After making amends with his master, Morro's spirit peacefully returned to the Departed Realm.
After the Merge, Morro settled in the Spectral Lands to escort deceased souls safely into the afterlife by protecting them from the Soul Suckers and honor the teachings of Master Wu. His soul was taken by Thunderfang upon the latter's arrival in the Spectral Lands, but after Thunderfang's eventual defeat, Morro's soul was released and he returned to his duty to protect the Spectral Lands, before being joined by Egalt.
History
History[]
Early life[]
Morro found by Wu.
A young Morro was found by Wu, while he and a few other children were rummaging through the monastery's trash bins. The other children ran off when they saw Wu, but Morro stayed. The young master took pity on the boy and gave him food, as well as offering to train him in the ways of the ninja. He was considered by Wu to be the perfect student as he undertook any obstacle that his master would throw at him.[1]
Morro was eventually gifted a kite by Wu; by playing with it, Morro showcased his ability for controlling Wind. Wu quickly recognized Morro's lineage as a descendant of a Wind Elemental Master and was astounded by the unprecedented control Morro possessed over the element. This realization led Wu to believe that Morro was meant to become the Green Ninja. Unfortunately, Morro became arrogant with the thought of becoming the Green Ninja. The day arrived when the truth about Morro being the Green Ninja would finally be revealed. However, to Morro's disappointment, the Golden Weapons did not respond to him. Despite this setback, Morro made up his mind to train harder and learn more lessons in order to show that he was worthy of the title. Unfortunately, Wu reminded him that destiny had already made its decision, but Morro refused to accept it. He felt betrayed by the belief that Wu had instilled in him and insisted that he was indeed the Green Ninja.[1]
Morro's skeleton.
The Master of Wind became obsessed with proving his master—and destiny—wrong. One day, Morro's audacity reached its peak when he awakened a Grundle, forcing Wu to intervene and rescue him. In Morro's eyes, the act of salvation was an indication that destiny still held a glimmer of hope for him to become the Green Ninja. However, Wu vehemently disagreed. Morro left the monastery, declaring that he would never return until he found the Tomb of the First Spinjitzu Master, and in his journeys he committed multiple atrocities.[1] Arriving at the ancient Library of Domu for answers, he discovered a passage referring to a "cave in the deep," and misinterpreting its meaning, he journeyed to the Caves of Despair, a mistake that would prove fatal; while exploring, he became trapped in a cave with a kethanol geyser and was presumably killed by the explosion.[2] His spirit was then banished to the Cursed Realm for his actions, where he pledged his service to the Preeminent.
Plotting to free her mistress and curse the Sixteen Realms, Bansha came into contact with Fenwick, and the latter, fearing for his safety, agreed to assist the Cursed Realm by rewriting destiny so that Morro would be able to leave when given the chance to escape.
Tournament of Elements[]
The Corridor of Elders[]
As Garmadon opened the portal to the Cursed Realm intending to free the Anacondrai generals, Morro was able to escape the dimension. While the ninja celebrated their victory after the Second Serpentine War, a small dark tornado appeared in the sky carrying Morro inside.
Possession[]
Winds of Change[]
Morro made his way to the Ninjago Museum of History where the Allied Armor of Azure was being kept. He possessed the Night Watchman, then called Steep Wisdom and requested for Lloyd to come.
When the true Green Ninja, his old Master's nephew, arrived at the museum, Morro—still in the body of the Watchman—led him to a back room where he attempted to attack him with a sledgehammer. The watchman was soon buried under several boxes and Morro left his body to possess several other things in the room, such as a portrait of Chen, a statue of a Hypnobrai, and a pile of sand. After weakening the Green Ninja, he took possession of Lloyd himself.
With the Allied Armor and the control of the Green Ninja's body, the ninja lost their powers, and Morro journeyed to Steep Wisdom to seek the Staff of the First Spinjitzu Master, now carried by his former Master. He faced the ninja for the first time, using his power of Wind to easily defeat them. Yet, before he was able to obtain the staff, Wu and the ninja escaped in the Destiny's Bounty. Undeterred, Morro summoned a corrupted version of Lloyd's Energy Dragon to chase after them.
Ghost Story[]
Confronting the ninja.
Morro quickly caught up to the Destiny's Bounty and boarded it, defeating Cole and Jay with ease. He used lightning to cripple the ship's autopilot and descended into its lower level where he defeated Zane. Morro almost succeeded in throwing Kai out of the Bounty, though he was distracted when Wu threw his staff out the window. As it was Morro's true objective, he summoned his Elemental Dragon once again and used it to retrieve the staff.
Morro flew to a nearby tavern where he satisfied himself with a drink before interrupting a biker's pool game to decipher the message on the staff. Angered at Morro's action, the biker and his friends surrounded Morro, though the ghost used the Allied Armor to summon Wrayth, and the two defeated the bikers with ease. He then instructed the Chain Master to deal with the ninja while he located Master Yang's Airjitzu scrolls.
Upon arriving at the Ancient Library of Domu where the Airjitzu scroll was being kept, Morro was enraged to find that the thief, Ronin, had already stolen it and had fled to Stiix. He stormed out of the building, but not before he gave one of the guards his autograph and took a selfie with them.
Stiix and Stones[]
Morro soon arrived at a hill overlooking Stiix and summoned Soul Archer to aid him in his quest, as Lloyd was beginning to fight his possession. The two descended into the city and confronted Ronin at his shop. Unfortunately for Morro, the ninja arrived and Morro ordered Soul Archer to hide so they could locate the scroll. Once the ninja succeeded, Morro summoned several more ghosts and chased after Ronin, eventually claiming the Airjitzu scroll. He, in turn, was pursued by Kai though he used Airjitzu to ascend into the air where he summoned his Elemental Dragon and escaped.
The Temple on Haunted Hill[]
Morro used the Armor to release Bansha and Ghoultar from the Cursed Realm, hoping that they would be able to decipher the next symbol on the staff. Bansha revealed that it was the Sword of Sanctuary, kept hidden in the Cloud Kingdom, which was only accessible from the Blind Man's Eye. As the only way to reach the phenomenon was to ascend the Wailing Alps, Morro ordered his forces to the Samurai X Cave, intending to possess one of the ninja's mechs.
Yet, before they could take one of the mechs, the ghosts were ambushed by Nya in her Samurai Mech. While she was unable to damage the ghosts, the samurai succeeded in destroying the Allied Armor, thus destroying the way for Morro to summon reinforcements. Ghoultar quickly possessed the mech, turning it into his own verison of the mech, and the ghosts chased Nya and Ronin from the cave. Unfortunately, it soon began to rain and the Master of Wind summoned his Elemental Dragon to head to the Wailing Alps.
Peak-a-Boo[]
Morro used the Samurai Mech to ascend the Wailing Alps, though at the same time Lloyd was growing stronger and fighting his possession. Upon realizing they were being followed by the ninja, Morro was encouraged to abandon Lloyd's body by his companions, though the Master of Wind reminded them that only a Spinjitzu Master could find the tomb. He did, however, allow Bansha to create an avalanche, and the ghosts continued their ascent.
As they neared the Hanging Temple, the ghosts discovered that the ninja had survived the avalanche and were climbing even faster. Morro abandoned the mech and ordered his allies to stop them while he continued climbing. Yet, even after calming the winds that plagued the mountain, Morro failed in reaching the Blind Man's Eye.
Kingdom Come[]
With his failure and Lloyd's continued resistance, Morro became increasingly agitated. However, Bansha quickly made contact with Fenwick, the head writer in the Cloud Kingdom, and made a deal with him to let them in a back way. Morro was shown to where the Sword of Sanctuary was kept and upon retrieving it, encountered the ninja. Due to being able to see their next move within the blade's reflection however, Morro was able to dodge their attacks and escape back to Ninjago. Yet the ninja followed, quickly catching up to them, and with Lloyd gaining control of his body momentarily, he lost the sword to Kai.
The Crooked Path[]
Morro and his ghost companions moved to Stiix were they took up residence in the remains of Ronin's pawn shop. Bansha then contacted the mercenary, ordering him to bring them the Sword of Sanctuary in exchange for his curse being removed.
Ronin soon arrived with the sword in hand and, after Ghoultar inspected it to make sure it wasn't fake, presented it to Morro. The Master of Wind used it to determine the location of the tomb, though he went behind Ronin's back and possessed him. With Ronin's body, he contacted the ninja and lead them on a false trail to the Caves of Despair, ironically this was likely because he perished there. After the message was sent, he left Ronin and taunted Lloyd by telling him to regain strength, as they will be leaving for the real location of the tomb.
Grave Danger[]
Taking possession of Lloyd once more, Morro journeyed to the tomb with the Sword of Sanctuary and passed the first two traps with ease. On the third trap, he eventually met up with the ninja and dueled with them. Soon, he was fooled by Kai and was trapped, but escaped his prison by leaving Lloyd's body.
However, he caught up to the ninja at the First Spinjitzu Master's resting spot, holding an extremely weakened Lloyd in one arm and threatening to hurt him with his sword if they didn't give up the Realm Crystal. After a while of stalling, Kai intended to fool the ghost again, coming out as a success because of the ninja regaining their power and the plan only backfiring when Lloyd was sent plummeting into a river, drifting away and leaving the Fire Ninja and Cole to save him while Zane and Jay took care of Morro. The Master of Wind was too clever for them, however, and escaped with both the crystal and the sword in his hands. Morro then used the crystal to take himself along with Bansha and Soul Archer back to Stiix.
Curseworld, Part I[]
On New Year's day, Morro used the Realm Crystal to return to the city of Stiix, where he opened a portal to the Cursed Realm. After briefly conferring with the weapon masters about the Preeminent's status, he expanded the portal and ordered the Ghost Warriors to prepare the city for their master's arrival.
The ninja shortly arrived at the city of Stiix with Lloyd by their side to stop the Preeminent from crossing over to Ninjago.
The ghosts and Morro were alerted to the presence of the supposed Green Ninja, whom they caught with ease. The ghosts brought the Green Ninja to the center of town where Morro mocked it and pulled off the hood, only to discover that Nya—the Water Ninja—was underneath. Using his power of wind, Morro was able to repel her water attacks until he noticed Lloyd trying to sneak by. He confronted the real Green Ninja and—using the Sword of Sanctuary and his power of Wind—was able to prevent him from reaching the Realm Crystal. However, Ronin arrived and distracted Morro by raining down his wealth, which allowed Lloyd to get inside the building and reach the Realm Crystal. Yet Morro managed to get inside before Lloyd destroyed it and delayed him by reminding him that destroying the crystal would ruin any chances of saving Garmadon. His delay worked as the Preeminent arrived and dragged Lloyd into the Cursed Realm.
Curseworld, Part II[]
Morro and Lloyd in Chima.
As The Preeminent emerged into Ninjago, Morro confronted his old master and captured Misako. Then he fought Ronin to get the Sword of Sanctuary back, but Lloyd showed up to get the Sword. Noticing the Ninja trying to sink the Preeminent, Morro orders the Ghost Warriors to protect the realm, which they proceed to give her armor. Morro continued to battle Lloyd where it leads them to other realms. Morro attempt to leave Lloyd in the Underworld but they ended up in the Realm of Maddness. At the Mountain of Madness, Morro looses the Realm Crystal but reclaims it as they fall into the Cloud Kingdom and Chima. Morro returned to Ninjago and left Lloyd stranded in another realm.
Morro before his death.
Unfortunately for the Master of Wind, Nya unlocked her True Potential and sank The Preeminent. As the creature fell into the water of Hollow's Trench, Morro used his wind to keep himself above the ocean, Wu arriving on his Elemental Dragon to help him. As he struggled to stay away from the water, he was soon grabbed by his master. Morro soon realized that his fate had been sealed, and handed his old master the Realm Crystal before sinking into the ocean and dissolving. With the Cursed Realm destroyed, Morro's spirit was sent to the Departed Realm.
Day of the Departed[]
A statue of Morro holding a replica of the Sword of Sanctuary was later included in the Ninjago Museum of History's Hall of Villainy on the Day of the Departed and was infused with Morro's spirit by the magic of Master Yang during the Yin-Yang Eclipse.
Morro resurrected.
Resurrected, Morro questioned the identities of the villains who were also brought back to life. After the villains gave their names, they wondered what brought them back to life before Morro pointed it was Yang's doing. Talking to the portrait Yang had possessed, the Airjitzu master informed Morro and his fellow former villains that they would be sent back to the Departed Realm at the conclusion of the eclipse unless they dispatched a foe with their weapons, the Departed Blades which would allow them to live again.
Morro with the resurrected villains as they prepare to go after the ninja.
Morro quickly claimed Master Wu as his target, stating that they had left things unfinished. Morro then arrived at the Monastery of Spinjitzu where he snuck up behind his target before confronting Wu. Wu was surprised to see him again, but stated that while it pains him, he wouldn't hesitate to clash with his former pupil once again; however, Morro revealed that he didn't actually want to fight, and he proceeded to warn Wu of Yang's intentions, and how he made him forget Cole. Morro promised to tell Wu more information once they locate the other ninja with that the pair traveled back to the museum in the Bounty.
Morro's final farewell.
Upon encountering all of the ninja but Cole at the museum, Morro was confronted by his former foes, whose hostile reaction to his presence made him smirk. However, Wu quickly stopped them by informing the ninja that Morro was there to help, as they were surprised by this revelation. Morro then told them of Yang's plans and how they had forgotten Cole, leading the ninja to depart to help their friend. His mission accomplished, Morro was thanked by Wu and he wished his former master a happy holiday before returning to his place in the museum, where his mannequin took on its original pose. Morro's spirit left, willingly returning to the Departed Realm at peace and redeemed.
Prior to Dragons Rising, Season 3[]
After the Merge, the Cursed Realm and the Departed Realm became one—the Spectral Lands. While most Departed souls were able to move on into new phases of existence, Morro felt that he still had to atone for his past with Master Wu. Deciding to honor Wu's teachings about protecting those who cannot protect themselves, Morro became a protector for all who passed through the Spectral Lands, living or departed.
Dragons Rising, Season 3[]
The Spectral Lands[]
Morro talking to Arin
Morro was fighting a group of Soul Suckers when he encountered Arin in the Spectral Lands. Confused about Arin's arrival due to the lack of living things in the Spectral Lands, Morro asked him for specific details, also telling him that Arin's sword is made of Prismatic Steel, allowing him to see the Soul Suckers. When Arin revealed his worry for his teacher, Ras, potentially dying from illness, Morro bonded with Arin, reminiscing on his time with his own master too. Morro guided Arin to the Well of the Lost to claim a healing elixir to save Ras. Then, the two continued to fight Soul Suckers as they approached Ras.
Morro with Arin and Ras in the Spectral Lands
After Arin healed Ras, Morro asked Arin to tell his master, Wu, about his teachings being right. Calming Arin's surprise about Wu, because the former thought he was dead, Morro corrected him, saying that Wu had to be alive. Otherwise, Morro would have encountered Wu's Departed soul in the Spectral Lands. Morro left Arin to tend to Ras, and then returned to fight more Soul Suckers.
Thunderfang absorbing Morro's soul
The Shatter Dragon[]
Morro encountered Thunderfang in the Spectral Lands, the latter had just lost a battle against the ninja and became departed. Following his decision to protect travelers in the Spectral Lands after the Merge, Morro protected Thunderfang from Soul Suckers. However, Thunderfang expressed his great power, and then absorbed Morro's and the Soul Suckers' souls for himself.
Chaos Reigns[]
After Arin and Lloyd defeated Thunderfang using the Arc Dragon of Focus, Thunderfang released a surge of energy that made him disappear with the Spectral Dragonians and the Forbidden Five, while the souls he had the Five collected were restored to the Merged Lands. Morro was restored somewhere in the Spectral Lands.
Dragons Rising, Season 4[]
Seed and Soil[]
After Thunderfang's defeat, Morro's soul was restored and he continued to guard the Spectral Lands with Dragon Master Egalt. The two notice a new soul coming to where the hill of the Well of the Lost once stood. Egalt told Morro to "rest easy" saying he'd take care of the soul that turned out to be Rontu.

Appearance
Appearance[]
As a young boy, Morro had longer black hair with a green streak on the right side. His eyebrows were also black, divided into two streaks at their ends. When Master Wu first found him, Morro was dressed in ragged beggar clothes, reflecting his difficult life on the streets. After Wu took him in, Morro was given a proper gi, which was a simple sand green outfit with golden and dark green details and darker pants.
As a ghost of the Cursed Realm, Morro's whole body became transparent and green. His gi was dark green and more tattered, with sand green sleeves and a sand green belt. The symbol of the dragon was visible on his chest, and his arms and face glowed with a pale green hue. His eyes stayed black with dark green markings around them giving him a ghostly appearance.
When possessing Lloyd, Morro turned Lloyd's hair to black, his skin to sand green and also changed his outfit to look more like a ghost. He also kept his dark green markings around Lloyd's eyes.
After the Merge, Morro acquired a slightly different look that blended his ghostly features with more solid details. He kept his black hair but without the green streak. His outfit was now more defined, featuring a similar dark green gi with sand green cloth and a light green belt. He also kept the symbol of the dragon on his chest but with slightly different design. His hands and face still had a ghostly green tint, though his form looked more stable compared to his original ghost appearance. The biggest change, however, was that his eyes turned glowing bright green instead of black, while still keeping dark green markings around them.
Personality
Personality[]
In his past, he was free-spirited and was shown to be rather patient up until Master Wu tested him. He was also seen to be jealous as well, as noted by his behavior while dueling Lloyd in the Museum, and his disgust and rage in confronting the one who attained his spurned, youthful dream of becoming the Green Ninja.
He also was very narrow-minded, focused, and determined. However, despite his gifts in strategy, his narrow-mindedness and inability to let go of anything was likely his greatest personal flaw. He was determined to prove destiny wrong after he was discovered to not be the Green Ninja. With his aggrandized sense of identity taken, Morro had taken out his disappointment in a state of denial and rage.
In his youth, Morro had a very close teacher-student relationship with Master Wu, which, while rather healthy and positive for them in the beginning, quickly took a nosedive after the revelation that Morro was not destined to be the Green Ninja, which caused Morro to become bitter and resentful, and caused him to abandon Wu and the Monastery. This also showcased Morro's determined and ambitious side, as well as his inability to cope with disappointment. Likewise, this seemingly caused him to later attempt to emulate Lloyd, the true Green Ninja, by frequently using his Elemental Dragon, appointing Weapon Masters that filled identical roles to the four ninja, and dressing in green clothing.
Morro's corrupted side.
He was also shown to be somewhat unstable in his inability to face failure. His failed dreams in his past life and attempts to live them out as a ghost show that his determination was limitless, although it had clearly driven him hopelessly insane. Likewise, Morro's massive insecurities and inner fears had left him incapable of abandoning his pursuit to be the Green Ninja and thus had prevented him from summoning his own Elemental Dragon as a result.
He was also shown to be manipulative, trying to buy time by telling Lloyd that his father still lives on in the Cursed Realm and that destroying the Realm Crystal would cost him his chance of saving his father. However, Morro used this information merely to stall the ninja until the Preeminent could drag Lloyd into the Cursed Realm herself. Morro was also pathologically incapable of letting go of a grudge. This is seen in his constant mocking of Lloyd and his references to his shattered dreams of becoming the Green Ninja. He blamed Wu and fate for this, and this attitude ultimately was what led him to his demise in the Caves of Despair.
Morro trying to protect Thunderfang
Morro did show his regret for his actions after the ghost invasion. When Master Wu tried to save him from being pulled into the water, he refused, giving the Realm Crystal to Master Wu, parting with the words, "You can only save those who want to be saved. Goodbye, Sensei." Once he was resurrected by Yang, he further showed he had learned his lesson because instead of going off to destroy one of his old enemies like his fellow villains, he warned Master Wu of Yang's plans. When he met the ninja again, he showed no ill will and was amused by their hostility but warned them of the threat. After this, he left his former master on good terms before he returned to the museum and went back to the Cursed Realm within the Departed Realm on his own will, finally at peace with his fate, and no longer the vengeful spirit he had become.
After the Merge and the creation of the Spectral Lands, Morro became a Departed Soul but he decided not to move on to the afterlife but instead to guide other souls of the deceased through the Spectral Lands. He decided that way because of his biggest regret, betraying Master Wu, and started helping people honoring his Master's teachings about defending those who could not defend themselves.
Abilities and weapons
Abilities and weapons[]
Abilities[]
- Wind (formerly): When he was the Elemental Master of Wind, Morro had the ability to manipulate, control and produce air/wind. In combat, he was capable of dominating the battlefield by inhibiting the movements of his opponents with powerful cyclones and gales of wind, which consistently throws his enemies off guard. His wind blasts could also throw an Airjitzu user like Lloyd off his balance. He could use this to great effect, as he was able to interfere with the ability to use Spinjitzu. He was even strong enough to use the winds to trap the Destiny's Bounty and use winds to lift a windmill. He manage to calm the winds on the Wailing Alps, which Soul Archer considered to be difficult. He additionally used Wind to float through the air by manipulating the air currents with one hand. He was also able to use Wind when he possessed somebody.
- Elemental Dragon: While being in Lloyd's body, Morro was able to summon a corrupted version of the metaphysical Energy Dragon. Once Morro left Lloyd's body, he was no longer able to summon the dragon.

- Absolute Possession: Morro, as he was a ghost, was able to physically take over another person's brain, making them his host. He used this to his best ability when he possessed Lloyd as he was envious of him becoming the Green Ninja. While possessing somebody, he retained his Elemental Power of Wind and gained the host's powers if they have any. He could also possess inanimate objects like statues and sand, even saying himself he could possess anything.[4]
- Voxikinesis: While controlling a host, he was able to completely imitate the person's voice.[5]
- Intangibility: As he was a ghost, Morro could phase through solid objects. However, he was unable to do this when he possesses somebody.
- Spectral Perception: As a ghost, Morro can perceive hidden spiritual energy, such as Soul Suckers, across the Merged Realms.
- Spectral Magic: As a ghost of the Cursed Realm, Morro has the ability to use spectral magic. Additionally by combining Lloyd's energy with spectral magic, he was able to blast green lightning.
- Airjitzu: Morro could also use the art of Airjitzu, as he learned it after obtaining the first Scroll of Airjitzu before the ninja.
- Superhuman strength: Morro appears to posses superhuman strength, as he lifted a person with one hand and even broke an ice wall in the ice maze with one strike when he attacked the Ninja. He was also able to trade blows with the Soul Suckers.
- Martial arts: Morro was a skilled martial arts user and he is describe as Wu's best student. This was evident when he was able to easily defeat his fellow pupils in combat, they only manage to defeat him using their surroundings and his arrogance. He also manage to fight them at their full strength, going against Nya and go toe-to-toe with Lloyd, the Green Ninja. Additionally, he manage to fight Lloyd, who was armed with the Sword of Sanctuary while Morro only had the Realm Crystal. Following the Merge, Morro became far more skilled in martial arts, despite passing his Wind power to his sucessor.
- Swordsmanship: Morro was also very skilled in swordsman. A noticeable example of this was when he used the Sword of Sanctuary (without using its powers) in the ice maze to fight four ninja. In addition he also fought with two Ghost Blades while fighting the ninja on the Bounty.
- Stealth: Being a ninja, Morro is able to sneak into places without being noticed. He manage to steal the Airjitzu scroll from Ronin without him noticing.
- Manipulation: Morro is also capable of manipulation, as he managed to stall Lloyd before the Preeminent arrived. He was also shown to be very quick-thinking despite loosing the Sword of Sanctuary.
Weapons[]
- Allied Armor of Azure: Morro wore the Allied Armor of Azure that he used to summon the Ghost Masters until it was destroyed.
- Ghost Blades: While fighting on the Bounty, Morro wielded two ghost blades that he created. The serrated daggers were destroyed by Nya's boomerang.
- Sword of Sanctuary: Morro held the Sword of Sanctuary that he used to easily gain an edge over the ninja.
- Realm Crystal: Morro used the Realm Crystal to open the gateway so his master can come. He later used it as a way of teleportation to combat Lloyd.
- Scroll of Airjitzu: After a chase on getting the Scroll of Airjitzu, Morro used it to learn how to preform it. He later used it along with the Sword of Sanctuary to find the First Spinjitzu Master's tomb.
- Retractable Staff: Sometime after the Day of the Departed, Morro began to use a retractable staff that he primary has as a double-bladed sword. Morro's new weapon featured a long staff-like hilt with small blades on the tips. Its blades were retractable allowing them to be a double-bladed sword, retract into the weapon to be a staff, or a double-bladed spear.

Possession (Museum)[]
Long ago, Morro, the Master of Wind, was Master Wu's first pupil. He had great talent and Wu believed he was on the path to becoming the Green Ninja. However, at the crucial moment, the Golden Weapons of Spinjitzu did not react to him (as they would one day for Lloyd). Wu attempted to convince Morro to give up on his quest, but the embittered young man refused. Morro went off on his own in search of the Tomb of the First Spinjitzu Master and perished in the Caves of Despair (it's believed he may have been killed by the explosive geysers present in the caves). For reasons that remain a mystery, he was banished to the Cursed Realm. Morro later escaped, possessed Lloyd's body and led a ghostly legion into battle in the NINJAGO world. In the end, the Preeminent dragged Morro beneath the water and his ghostly form was destroyed.[6]
Day of the Departed[]
Denied the chance to be the Green Ninja, Morro stormed from Wu's dojo intent on gaining the same power by other means. He went in search of the Tomb of the First Spinjitzu Master, believing that the resting place of the creator of the NINJAGO world would give him control of the four Golden Weapons. His travels took him to the Caves of Despair, after misreading “cave in the deep” on an ancient scroll in the Library of Domu. There he was trapped and killed by a kethanol geyser.[7]
Character Encyclopedia New Edition[]
Back from the Cursed Realm as a ghost, Morro is set on revenge against Wu and the ninja. Driven by jealously, Morro uses his cunning and mastery of his element, the wind, to possess Lloyd and attack the other ninja. His mission is to bring evil to Ninjago Island once again.
Perfect Student[]
Morro was Master Wu's first student. He soon mastered the martial arts and Wu thought he might be the prophesied Green Ninja. When it became clear that he wasn't, Morro became obsessed with proving Wu wrong.

- He is voiced by Andrew Francis, who used a very similar voice to young Morro for Jaller in another LEGO property, Bionicle: Mask of Light.
- Andrew Francis also took over the role of Cole after Kirby Morrow's passing in 2020.
- In the LEGO sets, Morro has a tattered cape and a black half-mask (the ones worn by the ninja in their Techno robes and Tournament robes). However, both of these are absent in the TV series.
- Likewise, the green streak in Morro's hair is absent on his physical minifigure.
- Morro's torso design is based on the ninja's original trainee uniforms, with the symbol being the dragon symbol used by Lloyd ever since he became the Golden Ninja. As a child, he had a slightly desaturated version of Lloyd's ZX torso.
- Although Morro appears in "Day of the Departed," neither him nor Samukai, who also appears in "Day of the Departed," appear in any of the special's sets.
- This is presumably because Morro had been released the most recently out of all the villains in the special, and the sets including him would still have been available on shelves.
- His exclusion from the sets explains why he didn't get an updated design like most of the other villains, as the new designs were a product design choice.[8]
Trivia
Trivia[]
- Morro shares similarities with several characters, both in Ninjago and other franchises:
- Morro and Kai both had an obsession to become the Green Ninja. Unlike Kai, however, Morro had a vicious desire, which led him to crave vengeance to destroy Lloyd, whereas Kai learned his destiny was to protect Lloyd and help train him to reach his full potential.
- Morro is similar in appearance to Kylo Ren from Star Wars, as both characters were first introduced in 2015 and have the same hairpiece for their LEGO Minifigures.
- Morro's character arc bears resemblance to Tai Lung, the main antagonist of the first Kung Fu Panda movie (2008).
- Both are orphans and were raised, being students of their respective series' main martial art teachers (Shifu for Tai Lung, Wu for Morro) to become legendary warriors (the Dragon Warrior for Kung Fu Panda, the Green Ninja for Ninjago), but they ended up being rejected from the roles due to their hearts being too negative and felt wronged by this decision, choosing to seek out vengeance, later they both redeemed themselves (Morro in Day of the Departed, Tai Lung in Kung Fu Panda 4).
- Morro is also similar to Davy Jones, one of the main villains of Pirates of the Caribbean.
- Both are tragic villains who were once noble but turned dark after feeling betrayed—Morro by destiny and Master Wu, and Jones by love (Calypso). Both become undead, command cursed forces (ghost army/Kraken pirate crew), and seek power to escape or defy their fate. In the end, they show a hint of redemption before dying, making them complex, emotionally driven antagonists.
- In Dragons Rising Season 3, Morro returns guarding the Spectral Lands after the realms merged and guides lost souls, similar to Davy Jones's original task.
- Morro is also similar to Zaheer from Avatar: The Legend of Korra. Both have wind powers and use staff weapons. Although Morro was born with his while Zaheer gained his abilities after Harmonic Convergence, which happen in his adulthood.
- Morro is similar to Vex from Secrets of the Forbidden Spinjitzu. In the past, they were both rejected from the possibility of being special, and they both went on to hijack one of the ninja's bodies in order to gain more power, which made the ninja appear to be evil.
- Morro is similar to the Reverse-Flash from DC Comics, as they both originally wanted to be the main hero persona (the Green Ninja and The Flash respectively) only to realize they could never be this, which led them to go down a dark path and become an enemy of the hero, trying to defeat the hero to prove himself better than him.
- When asked how Morro ended up in the Cursed Realm, Tommy Andreasen said, "He must have done some bad act as he perished in his search for the tomb, putting a curse on himself."[9]
- Out of all the generals in Ninjago, Morro is the only one with an Elemental Power.
- While he is not referred to as a general in the series, he was credited as "Ghost General" in "The Corridor of Elders."
- Morro is one of the six main antagonists (or group of main antagonists) to have appeared before the installment where they are the main antagonist, the others being Yang, Krux, Ronin, Ras, and the Forbidden Five.
- He is the second villain to appear in the series who has a vendetta against Wu, the preceded by Garmadon and followed by the Time Twins and Aspheera.
- He is also the second villain with a dragon, the first being The Overlord with the Nindroid MechDragon.
- When Morro possesses a victim, he displays the ability to replicate his victim's voice.[5]
- His name and element appear to reference Morrowind, the third Elder Scrolls game. Tommy Andreasen confirmed this was not a deliberate reference.[10]
- On Netflix, his name is incorrectly labelled "Moro" for unknown reasons.
- In "Ghost Story," Morro was able to shoot green lightning. This is not normal lightning, but rather a manifestation of Energy and ghost power.[3]
- Morro appears at the end of every level of Ninjago Possession.
- There is no reference to Morro unlocking his True Potential at any point in his life, nor is it seen at all in the series. When asked if he had, Tommy Andreasen said Morro doesn't seem like he had overcome his obstacles within.[11]
- He most likely did not unlock an Elemental Dragon, as he was not far into his training before he left.[12]
- He most likely did not know Spinjitzu.[13][14]
- While Morro used a corrupted version of Lloyd's dragon, he never used his own, as he is not "a person who rests in himself and has overcome this fears".[15]
- Morro was most likely around 15 to 20 years old when he died in the Caves of Despair, according to Tommy Andreasen.[16] He was "A bit younger" than the ninja.[17]
- Morro is the first Elemental Master of a normal element to die onscreen, Nya being the second, but that event was erased due to Jay's final wish.
- His willingness to assist Wu and the ninja in "Day of the Departed" was due to his final moments from "Curseworld, Part II," upon realizing his fate and personal weakness. He may well have remembered this and, as such, used the chance to prove himself to his former foes not as the Green Ninja, but just as a ninja.
- Morro is the first Elemental Master to die while still having his elemental power of wind. When he returns from the Cursed Realm, he is seen using it. The second Elemental Masters are the Forbidden Five.
- Morro's line right before his death in "Curseworld, Part II," "You can only save those who want to be saved," reflects what Wu said when explaining Morro's origins in "Ghost Story," which was "I could not teach those who would not listen."
- He is the only one of the ghosts that who returns to the museum in "Day of the Departed" during the Yin-Yang Eclipse's conclusion. This is due to his completing his claimed "debts" and having accepted his fate, unlike the other villains.
- He was also the only antagonist who accepted fate in his respective season whereas the others, save for Pythor, didn't accept their death at all.
- Morro is one of the eight main antagonists not currently known to be alive, the other seven being Chen, the Preeminent, the Time Twins, the Omega, Kalmaar, and Beatrix.
- Morro is one of only five primary antagonists to reform, the other four being Garmadon, Yang, Unagami, and Harumi.
- Since Possession, Morro was referenced in all following seasons except Hunted, Prime Empire and Season 2 of Dragons Rising.
- First when Jay mentioned all the bad things that happened in the Skybound episode, "Infamous".
- Then in The Hands of Time episode, "Pause and Effect" as a hallucination.
- Then in the Sons of Garmadon episode, "The Quiet One," when Lloyd asked Harumi who she thought was the best villain they fought.
- Then in March of the Oni onwards when he appears in one of the Ninjago history murals.
- He was mentioned by Lloyd in the Dragons Rising, Season 1 episode "Writers of Destiny."
- Morro and Harumi both had tragic backstories and were out for revenge. Ironically, both had a deep hatred directed at Lloyd before their redemption.
- Morro appears as a boss in The LEGO Ninjago Movie Videogame in the "Stormy Docks" dojo (which has no relation to the game's storyline) and can be unlocked as a playable character by earning a gold medal in that dojo, which requires the player to collect 170,000 studs.
- However, as a playable character, he cannot use his elemental abilities.
- He is one of the ten characters to have a cape in the sets, the others are Lloyd, Chen, the Time Twins, Harumi, Wu, Blizzard Sword Masters, Akita, and Mammatus.
- It's unlikely Morro's past will be further explored.[18]
- According to Tommy Andreasen, Morro's translucent green legs are most likely pants and not his skin.[19]
- When questioned about Morro's return in Ninjago: Dragons Rising, Chris "Doc" Wyatt stated that revealing whether Morro will come back would spoil the storyline. However, he acknowledged the possibility of Morro's return, emphasizing that anything can happen in Ninjago.[20]
- Despite having black eyes and green glowing eyes on the second face on his 2025 minifigure, in the show his eyes are green for an unknown reason as his eyes were black in his previous ghost appearances.
- It's possible the reason for his eyes becoming green is to parallel Lloyd's eyes also becoming Green in Season 8 and forward.
- Morro is the second antagonist from the original series to interact with one of the New Ninja introduced in Dragons Rising.

Relationships
These are the relationships of Morro, the former Master of Wind.
Instructor (formerly)
Instructor (formerly)[]
Master Wu[]
Morro and Wu
Morro was Wu's first pupil.
Wu found Morro after he and a few other children were rummaging through the monastery's trash bins. Taking pity on him, Wu invited him to live in the monastery and learn the ways of the ninja, an offer that was accepted. Wu later discovered that Morro was the elemental master of Wind and thought he was the next Green Ninja.
However, this was not the case as Morro would become more arrogant at the opportunity to have such amazing power. Wu soon the true depths of his error in judgment as the Golden Weapons did not choose him, meaning that he was not the chosen one. Wu tried to comfort him but Morro set out to prove destiny and his master wrong, this proved to be fatal as he would die on his journey, much to Wu's sadness.
Morro later came back to Wu as a Ghost and possessed the true Green Ninja Lloyd who was also Wu's nephew. The two became enemies with them clashing in their encounters with Morro blaming his old master for his fate and Wu defending his choices. Despite this, Wu tried to save Morro from death after The Preeminent started to drag him down into the water. However, Morro saw the error of his ways and simply resigned himself to his fate but not before giving Wu the Realm Crystal and bidding him farewell.
In "Day of the Departed," Morro is resurrected by Yang and he picks Wu as his target since they left things "unsettled". Morro met his old master at the destroyed monastery, Wu was shocked to see him again and told him that while he was pained they would have to fight again, he won't hesitate to do it again. However, Morro revealed that he had no intention of fighting him but really came to warn him about Yang's plans, something surprised Wu who listened to his story. Wu later defended Morro from being attacked by the ninja and told them Morro came to help as the latter told the ninja of what Yang was planning. His mission accomplished, Morro was thanked by his former master for his actions and he bid him farewell and returned to the Departed Realm at peace.
Allies
Allies[]
The Preeminent (formerly)[]
The Preeminent was Morro's former master.
At some point after his death, Morro was sent to the Cursed Realm and served under The Preeminent. He became her second in command and he followed her order in wanting to take over the living realm. After Garmadon's sacrifice, the two put their plan into action.
However, she later betrayed him, dragging him to the Endless Sea with her, resulting in their deaths.
Ghost Warriors (formerly)[]
Morro with his allies.
The Ghost Warriors were Morro's allies.
Morro led the Ghost Warriors in absence of The Preeminent. He was particularly close with the Soul Archer and Bansha, who were always seen with him in their endeavors. Morro first summoned Wrayth to deal with the Ninja before he summon Soul Archer, Bansha, and Ghoultar.
Arin[]
Morro protecting Arin
In the Spectral Lands, Morro sees Arin about to get attacked by the Soul Suckers. Morro protects Arin from the Soul Suckers, Arin also starts to help out once Morro begins to struggle. Together, they both were able to take down one of the Soul Suckers. Continuing his protection, Morro tries to get Arin out of the Spectral Lands. Arin couldn’t go back, since he needed to save his master. Arin needed to get some healing elixir from the Well of the Lost. Morro, knowing he had a master once, know how much masters are important and starts helping him get to the Well of the Lost. Morro will then start protecting Arin from the Soul Suckers to save his master.
During their mission, Morro would give more information about the departed souls and the departed realm. They both discuss on where the souls moved on. Morro is being honest to Arin about how much he would protect other who passes through the Spectral Lands, since he was once a ninja. Just then Morro would protect Arin until they reach to the Well of the Lost.
At the Well of the Lost, Morro would give Arin more information on what is the Well of the Lost. Morro tells Arin about his relationship with his master, telling that it was complicated. He goes on how much he regret betraying his master to Arin, since this is why he now protect others. Arin really liked his statement Morro gave, now motivated. Now completed, Morro now can get Arin out of the Spectral Lands.
Arin is very thankful for Morro protecting him, though the Soul Suckers attacks them again. Morro, almost getting defeated, tries to save Arin by telling him to run. However, Arin stays and thinks he needs to help Morro. When Ras got beaten up, Morro tries to comfort Arin to try to be positive. Arin thanks Morro, which Morro tells Arin that if he sees his master, tell him he was right. Morro then tells some news that Master Wu is not dead since his soul did not depart in the Spectral Lands. Afterwards, Morro leaves Arin and Ras.
Egalt[]
Morro appeared to be aquatinted with Egalt. Upon noticing Rontu's soul, Morro attempted to guide her but Egalt told Morro he can handle her and told Morro to rest.
Enemies
Enemies[]
Ninja (formerly)[]
Morro was a major enemy to the ninja who could do very little to fight him, while helpless. However, after he abandoned Lloyd's body, the ninja regained their powers and were able to stand against him and defeat his master The Preeminent who indirectly caused his second demise.
Out of all the ninja, Morro seemed to be most annoyed with Kai, due to him being brave enough to fight him alone and encouraging Lloyd to break free of his possession.
In "Day of the Departed," because of Cole's actions, Morro is resurrected by Yang and he revealed himself to the rest of the ninja along with Wu. Morro was amused to see them again, especially when they expressed hostility to him until Wu defended Morro from being attacked. The ninja were surprised when Wu told them that Morro came to help, Morro explained to them of what Yang was planning. Due to him, the ninja recalled how they forgot Cole and rushed to his aid. His mission accomplished, Morro returned to the Departed Realm at peace.
Lloyd[]
Morro holding Lloyd hostage.
During Possession, Morro escaped the Cursed Realm and lured Lloyd to him. Morro attacked Lloyd while taunting him that his father's sacrifice was what allowed him to break out of his imprisonment. Morro showed a dislike for Lloyd both because he was Wu's nephew and the Green Ninja, something he dreamed of becoming. Morro possessed Lloyd, and by doing this he rendered the other ninja powerless because they depended on him.
After the ninja found the Realm Crystal, Morro abandoned Lloyd's body and held the weakened Green Ninja hostage for the item in question over their friend. However, Morro leaving Lloyd caused the other ninja to regain their power and they fought to free Lloyd.
Reunited with his friends, Lloyd sought to defeat Morro for possessing him. Lloyd confronted Morro and attacked him in revenge for using him. Their fight took across most of realms until Lloyd withdrew and Morro was defeated by other means.
During "Day of the Departed," they meet again and Lloyd was angry to see him while Morro was amused. Lloyd quickly armed himself for a fight until Wu told them that Morro came to help, to Lloyd's surprise. Morro explained to them of what Yang was planning. Thanks to him, the ninja recalled how they forgot Cole and rushed to his aid. His mission accomplished, a redeemed Morro returned to the Departed Realm at peace.
