In Ninjago City, the Ninja are investigating the disappearance of Cyrus Borg following a confrontation at the newly opened Borg Store. As they search the city, the ninja are confronted by a large army of Vermillion Warriors, immediately starting a battle. Although the ninja are able to easily defeat and shatter their foes, they are soon reminded that these enemies are able to reconstruct themselves just as fast as the ninja can shatter them. As the battle progresses, the weather suddenly takes a turn for the worse and begins pouring rain. Seeing this, Jay had an idea and used his power of Lightning to electrify one of the puddles a warrior was stepping in. Shocked by the jolt of electricity, the Vermillion Warrior quickly disassembled into its component snakes who then fled and abandoned their electrified armor. Impressed by Jay's quick thinking, Lloyd decided that they would have to find a way to amplify Jay's powers somehow.
After discovering an electric rod, Lloyd passed it over to Jay, urging for him to try it. Although the rod was indeed able to amplify Jay's powers, scattering several more Vermillion in the process, it unfortunately was not strong enough to hold back the entire force of warriors; that, and also because conducting electricity through the rod shocked Jay in turn with each use. Deciding that they would need a better idea, Nya proposed heading to Borg Tower just as Dareth arrived, proclaiming that the Brown Ninja had come to the rescue! Ignoring Dareth, Lloyd used his phone to broadcast a warning across Ninjago City, urging all residents to turn off their electrical devices so that the ninja could defeat the newest enemy overrunning the city.
As the ninja make their way to Borg Tower, they find themselves surrounded by yet another large force of Vermillion Warriors. As they fight their way through, Nya is clobbered on the head by Rivett, greatly angering Kai who constructed a flaming chainsaw in response to cut his way through the Vermillion in retaliation. As the ninja continue to fend off the Vermillion, Jay remarked that the rain was insufficient to conduct enough electricity to defeat all the snakes. With his urging, Nya agreed to combine her power of Water with his power of Lightning to unleash an electrified torrent against the warriors. As luck would have it, this plan worked, and the army of warriors scattered after being drenched in an electrified tidal wave.
With the day won, the ninja prepared themselves to return to the Temple of Airjitzu. At that moment, Dareth returned once more, now sporting his "brown ninja" gi and proclaimed that the "Brown Ninja had returned to save the day!" Unfortunately, with the day already saved, Dareth was forced to return home in disappointment. Back at the temple, the ninja checked on Wu and Zane, pondering their next steps. Jay had recovered one of the Vermillion helmets and wondered now if maybe putting it on could reveal anything about this mysterious new foe.
