Battle for Zane! is the 24th issue of the Ninjago Magazine. It includes 891724 Zane and Fusion Cole appears on the cover. It was released on April 25, 2017.

The Ninja speed across the Sea of Sand in the Ultra Sonic Raider, searching for the Samurai X Cave where they could hopefully repair their damaged friend, Zane. As they journey across the sands, the ninja discuss Dr. Saunders and express hope that maybe he could assist them in uncovering more about the mysterious Samurai Snakes once Kai gets to the Ninjago Museum of History.

Elsewhere, in the Vermillion Swamps, an orange Vermillion reports to the Time Twins on Zane's status, admitting that the Vermillion are aware of the ninja's efforts to repair him. This enrages Acronix, who warns that if the ninja are able to reboot their friend, then they will discover the secret of the twins: that Acronix was not destroyed in his battle with Wu and that Dr. Saunders is Krux! While Acronix screams that he and his brother must do something about this development, Krux shrugs his brother off and dismisses the matter as a small concern. He then dons his guise of Dr. Saunders and makes his way back to the museum, leaving Acronix behind to deal with the situation on his own. As his brother leaves, Acronix orders the orange warrior to assist him in summoning more Vermillion Warriors, though unfortunately the warrior is unsure of what to do. After Acronix fumbles with controlling the Vermillion snakes, the warrior runs off in search of Commanders Blunck and Raggmunk. Sometime later, with the assistance of the two commanders, Acronix's forces are assembled and ready for battle.

Back in the Sea of Sand, the ninja are still enroute to the Samurai X Cave, but soon discover that they were being pursued by Acronix and his forces. Realizing that the Vermillion worked for him, the ninja engage Acronix and his forces in battle. As the battle rages on, the ninja attempt to utilize the rough terrain of the Sea of Sand to their advantage, leaping and turning round massive rock formations, hoping to shake off their foes. Unfortunately, Acronix had anticipated this and had divided his forces to prepare for every outcome. In response, the ninja activate the Ultra Sonic Raider's splitting function, separating into four smaller vehicles to further divide the attention of Acronix's forces. In the ensuing chaos, Jay managed to briefly defeat Acronix and the Vermillion commanders by sabotaging their Vermillion Racerwith his Lightning.

As Acronix and the commanders recover, the younger Hand of Time shouts at his subordinates to continue their pursuit of the ninja, dismissing Blunck's request for a break. Before they could continue however, Acronix pauses for a moment, having sensed that his brother needs his aid. Unwilling to leave his brother behind, Acronix orders the commanders to continue the chase while the rest of the warriors would follow him back to the museum. Heeding their superior's order, Blunck and Raggmunk continued to follow the ninja from behind, watching from the shadows as the ninja carried Zane into the Samurai X.

Elsewhere, Kai had arrived at the Ninjago Museum of History and was prepared to meet with Dr. Saunders, unaware of what secrets he would soon uncover...

The comic takes place during "Secrets Discovered" and reveals that Acronix attacked the Ninja when they were carrying Zane to the Samurai X Cave. However in the episode, Cole, Nya and Jay found out that Acronix is alive only after seeing Zane's memory in that cave. As such, the comic is considered non-canon.
