The Masked Menace! is the 36th issue of Ninjago: Legacy Magazine.

In Ninjago City, the Ninja stalk a remnant group of the Sons of Garmadon, ambushing them at their hideout. After rounding up the bikers, the ninja discover an invitation to a "Secret meeting for super villains," noting that masks would be required for attendance.
Some time later, the ninja disguise themselves with cloaks and masks before making their way to the location of the secret meeting: a luxurious mansion. Presenting the invitation they had taken from the Sons of Garmadon, the ninja are welcomed into the estate and quickly integrate themselves into the evening's event. Eventually, all the guests were gathered before the stage, where their host, a stranger wearing a kabuki mask, stepped up to address the crowd. Although Kai initially dismissed Jay's fears that they were the subject of the event, the latter's concerns were almost immediately proven right as the host revealed the purpose of the night's gathering: to join forces to destroy the ninja!
At that moment, the host was informed about the Sons of Garmadon's capture, prompting the host to address the crowd and to reveal that there were imposters among them. As the guests in the crowd began to scrutinize one another, one masked individual noticed that Zane's arm was metallic and called it out to the rest of the crowd, exposing the ninja. Although the rest of the crowd managed to subdue the ninja through sheer numbers, the tides were just as quickly turned against them when the ninja retaliated with Spinjitzu, defeating nearly all of their attackers. In light of this, the Kabuki Mask fled, warning that the ninja will never catch them, escaping into a limousine while two other criminals fled on motorbikes.
Using the bikes they had taken from the Sons of Garmadon earlier, the ninja give chase to their fleeing enemies, quickly defeating the two minor criminals. Zane then hurled his shurikens at the fleeing limousine, popping its tires and spinning it out of control. As the ninja approached the stalled vehicle, they wondered amongst themselves who the identity of the Kabuki Mask could be and pulled open the doors. Unfortunately, to their surprise, there was no one in the limousine at all except for the unconscious driver!
Elsewhere, a second limousine silently escaped from the manor grounds, having gone the route opposite of the convoy stopped by the ninja. Within the limo, the mysterious host had removed her signature kabuki mask, revealing her identity as the presumed dead, former princess of Ninjago: Harumi. As she escapes, Harumi mumbles to herself that her plans of destroying the ninja remain in motion.

- Nya's disguised mask is blue in the first panel showcasing the ninja's disguises, but is black later on in the comic.
