The ocean gang is a group of Merlopian pirates.

At some point in time, the Ocean Gang was formed by a group of Merlopians. During one of their exploits, the gang encountered the Crab monster and fell under its sway as it used the powers of the Control crown and the Crab tooth to enslave the gang to its will. Sometime after the The Merge, while under the influence of the Crab Monster, the gang seized control over a floating village, forcing the inhabitants to flee and taking control over the village's production of algae.

One day, a ship carrying two passengers drifted to the village. Under the enthrall of the Crab monster, members of the Ocean gang drove off the two "interlopers" with a rain of arrows.

One evening some time later, the Ocean gang would find themselves under attack by the same pair of interlopers and the villagers that they had driven from the village. The gang members would stand their ground before suddenly reawakening to their senses after their leader was freed from the effects of the Control crown. Now freed from the influence of the Crab monster, the Ocean gang joined forces with their former enemies to defeat the Crab monster, relieving it of its mystical tooth and reducing it back to its original size.

Following their victory, the Ocean gang integrated themselves with the society of the algae farmers.

At the floating village, members of the Ocean gang worked alongside the algae farmers but were forced to flee in terror when Rox and her platoon of Dragonian Trackers arrived.
