Rox

Overview

“Listen, whelp. What you call evil we know as strength. And what was done to your people, done across the Wyldness, will soon be done to every realm of Creation.”

Rox was a corrupted anthropomorphic erythristic wolf,[1] one of the two leaders of the Forbidden Five alongside her brother Nokt,[5] one of Zarkt's cousins,[3] and the Elemental Master of Fear. After enduring thousands of years of imprisonment in the Nether-Space alongside her peers, her soul escaped through the portal and took possession of Jordana during the Ritual of the Blood Moon. Following the ritual, Rox and Nokt killed three Arc Dragons to acquire their Crowns of Horns, which were integral to their scheme to liberate the remaining members of the Five during the Tournament of the Sources. She went on to use Jordana as her host throughout the tournament, establishing communication with the other three still trapped in the Nether-Space. Unlike her brother, she did not participate as a competitor.

After the tournament's final game, Rox disclosed her possession of Jordana and headed to the Monastery of Gates with Nokt, where the Crowns of Horns were stored. Nokt then harnessed the stolen powers along with the crowns' Dragon Ivory to release Rox's physical form and the other three members, thereby freeing Jordana from her possession. Although Nokt successfully freed the rest of the Five, he ultimately lost his stolen powers to Roby who used the Elemental Cup. Rox and the other four escaped through a portal gate to the Cloud Kingdom, but were sent to another realm after she and the other members destroyed the portal gate so they could not be followed.

Seeking more power, Rox and the Five went to Thunderfang, who promised them the power they wanted if they freed him. Although they succeeded in freeing the Shatter Dragon, he betrayed them and absorbed their souls. Later, after Thunderfang's defeat, he took control of Rox's spirit and sent her to capture souls across the Merged Realms in his plan to become a Source Dragon. Rox managed to gather the last batch of souls, allowing his ritual to start. During the ritual, Thunderfang sensed the Ninja nearing his mortal enemy and sent Rox and the other four to stop them.

Rox, Drix, and Nokt were guarding the Spectral Lands when the three warriors saw Arin and Lloyd with the Unbidden Storm, which can summon the Arc Dragon of Focus to defeat Thunderfang. Following the Shatter Dragon's defeat, Rox and the others’ souls disappeared.

History

History[]

Background[]

Originally from a wolf tribe of the Wyldness, Rox, her brother Nokt, and their cousin Zarkt, met two other Wyldness dwellers within the Order of the Deep Shadow,[6] with whom they would form the Forbidden Five and found the Wolf Clan. Selected by Thunderfang, the Five were granted the elusive power of Chaos,[7] which allowed them to possess Elemental Powers and cultivate remarkable abilities, including a unique form of Spinjitzu called Shatterspin, along with the use of Theroxian Magic. To disseminate the Five's expertise and skills in Shatterspin and other powers to the wolf warriors, Rox created the Wolf Masks, imbuing them with the same dark energy that had empowered the Forbidden Five.[8] Regrettably, she and the entire clan fell victim to corruption due to their newfound powers, leading them down a dark path[9] and as a consequence, the Five unleashed chaos upon the Wyldness.[10][11]

Rox and the Wolf Clan taunting Zarkar

Rox and the Wolf Clan taunting Zarkar

One day, when Rox had finished working on a Wolf Mask, Nokt revealed to her about his assault on the South, which forced everyone to either submit to the Wolf Clan or face death. Rox was repulsed when she saw the Wolf Mask Warriors bring in Zarkar as a prisoner, whom she considered a worthless creature. When Zarkar accused Rox and the Forbidden Five of their deeds, they dismissed it, with Rox asserting that what others perceived as evil, they considered strength, and that soon all the realms would suffer as the Wyldness had. However, Rox noticed the arrival of the Dragon Masters.[11] Using Rising Dragon, the Dragon Masters overcame Shatterspin, defeating Rox and the Forbidden Five and subsequently using a potent spell to exile them to the Nether-Space for millennia.[12]

Rising Ninja[]

Rox possessing Jordana

Rox possessing Jordana

Ras planned to perform the Ritual of the Blood Moon as part of his grand scheme. Although he succeeded in freeing Nokt, the ninja’s interference thwarted his attempts to release the remaining members of the Forbidden Five. With no additional sacrifices made to release the Five, Rox partially escaped just in time by using Theroxian Magic to detach her soul from her body,[13] enabling her to take possession of Jordana amidst the chaos.

The Final Game (flashback)[]

At some point, Rox revealed herself to Nokt by telling him she escaped via taking over Jordana's body. The sibling duo worked together to orchestrate the escape of the remaining members of the Forbidden Five, all the while keeping their intentions hidden from Ras. For their plan to work, they must acquire Dragon Ivory and harness enough Elemental Powers to construct a portal to the Nether-Space. To achieve this, Nokt was required to compete in the Tournament of the Sources and secure a victory to obtain the necessary Elemental Powers. In a decisive move, Rox and Nokt successfully acquired the Dragon Ivory by launching an assault on three Arc Dragons, resulting in the demise of the creatures and the acquisition of their Dragon Crowns.

The Shape of Motion[]

Rox, in Jordana's body, followed Ras while he intervened in an sparring session between Nokt and Cinder.

They Gather for the Feast[]

Rox, still in possession of Jordana, accompanied Ras and the Wolf Clan to City of Temples for the Tournament of the Sources. During the feast the night before the games begin, Jordana fights off the possession long enough to ask Sora for help, only for Rox to retake control.

Inside the Maze[]

Rox, posing as Jordana, went to meet up with Nokt. Unknown to her, however, Sora followed from behind and confronted her about her pleas for help from the prior night at the banquet. Rox however had no idea what Sora was talking about and dismissed her question as "mind games," warning that the Master of Technology and the rest of the Ninja would be "proven brutally wrong" if she thought it would give them an edge in the tournament. Regrouping with Nokt, Rox admitted that she was not sure if Sora suspected anything but both ceased speaking on the topic after they were joined by Frak.

In the evening hours, Rox stood alongside the rest of the Wolf Clan and spectated the matches, glaring coldly at Jay after his loss against Nya and walking away with the rest of her team. Meanwhile, Kai and Bonzle discovered Rox's physical body inside the Nether-Space and noted that while her body still breathes, it could not perceive the events transpiring around it due to being separated from her soul.

United We Fall[]

Still in possession of Jordana, Rox accompanied her team and spectated the day's matches and later the Cavern Run.

Truth and Lies[]

Rox meets with Nokt after he defeats Tox and he calls her "sister", much to Sora's confusion. She later confronts Ras after he tells Arin that Wu caused the Merge. While Ras admits he left out some of his intentions, everything else he told Arin was true, and it will poison the young ninja's mind and spread to the others. Ras then explains that his goal in the tournament was to obtain enough Elemental Powers to create Dragon Icons to summon the Source Dragons, all of this being overheard by Nokt.

The Sword Shatters[]

Back in the Nether-Space, Rox's body was moved by Zarkt and Kur when they left the area with Drix. Rox and Nokt stormed into the ninja's living quarters, successfully abducting Nya and Riyu and taking them hostage when they learned of the Forbidden Five's plan from Kai.

Later, Rox would accompany the Wolf Clan to observe the competitions between Elemental Masters that day.

Clues and Suspects[]

Still in possession of Jordana's body, Rox stood alongside the Wolf Clan at the Games Plaza. When the day's first match between Sora and Frak began, Sora briefly waved towards Jordana, unaware of the latter's possession, but Rox ignored the friendly gesture, turning away with a scoff. Following the match however, Jordana managed to overcome Rox's possession long enough to pass a note to Sora.

The Final Game[]

Rox using Theroxian Magic

Rox using Theroxian Magic

Rox approached Nokt, who was intently observing Ras during his training session. Nokt stressed to Rox the need to eliminate Ras. In response, Rox confidently assured Nokt that it was just a matter of time before they would put an end to Ras, just as they had vanquished his ancestors in the past. Rox declared that the Forbidden Five would persist in their destructive agenda.

Later, while still pretending to be Jordana, Rox encountered Sora, who brought up a note she had received from Jordana. Rox feigned ignorance about the note. Still unaware that the Jordana she is talking to was Rox, Sora expressed regret for not recalling Jordana and suggested that they might have been friends in school. In a dismissive tone, Rox called Sora pathetic before turning away.

The final match of the tournament was about to begin at night. Rox joined Ras and the Wolf Clan to watch the fight between Nokt and Sora. As the battle unfolded, Rox realized that Nokt should have already claimed victory. Just when Sora seemed ready to win, Bleckt subtly tilted the arena, giving Nokt the upper hand. With a powerful Shatterspin, Nokt knocked Sora off her hoverpad, winning the Tournament of the Sources, which pleased Rox greatly.

At the victory ceremony, Wyldfyre and Zur disclosed that Bleckt had rigged the games to ensure the Wolf Clan's triumph. After Roby chose to call off the ceremony, Nokt unleashed Shatterspin, which propelled Roby away and allowed the Elemental Powers from the Elemental Cup to flow into him. With the necessary powers now at his disposal, Ras attempted to move ahead with his plans, but Nokt announced that he no longer works for him. Rox then joined her brother, pointing out Ras' lack of awareness and revealing her possession over Jordana since the Blood Moon Ritual without anyone realizing it. Both Rox and Nokt admit to slaying the three Arc Dragons to obtain their Crowns of Horns and free the rest of the Forbidden Five. Furious, Ras summoned Cinder and the wolf warriors to confront Nokt and Rox, demanding their obedience to fulfill his master's wishes or be destroyed. Nevertheless, Rox reminded Ras that she was the creator of the Wolf Masks and easily corrupted the warriors with her magic, allowing them to access their true powers while asserting Ras had underestimated it. She then commanded the Wolf Clan to eliminate everyone present.

Elements of Betrayal[]

Rox's soul returning to her own body

As the Wolf Clan initiated their assault, Rox and Nokt made their way toward the Monastery of Gates, facing opposition from the ninja. Nya had her suspicions that Rox and Nokt were still in league with Ras in their pursuit of the Source Dragons, but Rox quickly refuted this idea, insisting they had no interest in Ras' plans. Zane and Nya countered their Shatterspin techniques with Rising Dragon. Rox urged Nokt to reach the Monastery of Gates to liberate the remaining members of the Forbidden Five while she held the ninja at bay. She was about to use Jordana's crystal ball when Jordana attempted to fight back, trying to regain control of her body. As the ninja went on the offensive, Rox activated the crystal ball, unleashing a static spell that rendered them immobile, relishing her victory and declaring the inevitable havoc the Forbidden Five would wreak upon everyone and everything. The warrior proclaimed that anyone who thought they could overcome the Forbidden Five was delusional. However, at that very moment, Nokt managed to free the rest of the Forbidden Five from the Nether-Space, which caused Rox's soul to be drawn back into her body, freeing Jordana from her possession.

As the Forbidden Five were reunited, Rox dragged Zarkt's body to the portal gate. Once there, she informed Nokt that the other three were merely unconscious due to the corrupted method used for their release, which had drained their stamina significantly, a feeling Rox also experienced. She proposed that they should make their escape to recuperate. Just then, the ninja arrived and confronted the Forbidden Five. Although Rox was prepared to engage in battle, Nokt insisted on handling the situation alone. Despite gaining the upper hand initially, Nokt found himself at a disadvantage when Roby seized all the stolen Elemental Powers from him and returned them to their original bearers. When the rest of the Forbidden Five recovered, Rox urged Nokt to join them as they headed toward the portal gate leading to the Cloud Kingdom, bringing Ras along to get revenge. Meanwhile, Arin pursued the Forbidden Five, but as he did, Nokt destroyed the portal gate using Brute Force, leaving Rox and the others stranded in another realm to evade capture.

The Missing[]

Rox and the Forbidden Five

Rox and the Forbidden Five

Rox and the other members of the Forbidden Five jump in front of a truck, causing the vehicle to stop. She declared that they'll need supplies and ordered Zarkt to use Misfortune to disable the truck. Afterwards, Kur uses Decay on the truck's driver and passenger before Rox ordered her to let them live so they will warn others of the Forbidden Five's return and that no one will be safe. Soon after Drix chases the two away with Swarm, Rox ordered the rest of the group to pillage the supplies they need for their journey to the First Land and that it was time to unchain Thunderfang.

The Spectral Lands[]

Rox and the Five with Thunderfang

Rox and the Five with Thunderfang

Rox and the Five arrived in the First Land, where she commanded them to terrorize the Storm Village while searching for Thunderfang's prison. After some time, they located the entrance and ventured inside, only to be met with the unexpected revelation that Thunderfang had anticipated their arrival. Rox, taken aback, questioned how he had known they were coming, to which the Shatter Dragon responded with mockery, feigning surprise at her ignorance—everything had unfolded according to his design. Rox accused him of lying, highlighting that he had been shackled in his prison for a millennium. Undeterred, she prepared to propose the deal, but Thunderfang was already aware of her intentions, revealing that the arrangement was part of his scheme. He challenged Rox and her group, asking why they believed he had chosen to empower the five in the first place. Thunderfang urged them to find the Prismatic Blades and free him, promising that he would grant them the Chaos power they sought. When Rox inquired about locating the blades, Thunderfang handed the Five the Sobrient Stone, a large gem from his ring that can corrupt the Dragonians, who possessed the ability to sense Prismatic Steel. As Nokt shattered the gem, the Dragonians were turned into fierce warriors under Rox and the rest of the Forbidden Five’s control while the group gained the power to fly.

Rox led several Dragonian Warriors to the algae farmers' village. She commanded her warriors to attack both the farmers and the ocean gang while she searched for the green Prismatic Blade. Locating its whereabouts, Rox dove underwater and found the crab tooth, which held the blade. After retrieving it, she resurfaced and smashed the tooth, successfully obtaining the green Prismatic Blade.

I Alone Can Save Them[]

Rox with Kur

Rox with Kur

Rox used the Green Prismatic Blade to cut one of the two prismatic chains that held Thunderfang's arms. After the two chains were cut, Thunderfang unleashed a wind blast that blew Rox and Nokt aside. The dragon remarked that this was the closest he had been to freedom in a millennia, yet the other three prismatic chains still held him. In response, Rox assured him that the Forbidden Five were hunting down the remaining blades at that very moment.

When Zarkt returned to the Storm Village, he reported his failure to obtain the Blue Prismatic Blade, angering Rox, who reprimanded him and warned that the "Forbidden Five" would become the "Forbidden Four" if he failed again. After noticing that Kur had returned, Rox asked if she also failed, but the jackal replied that she found the Yellow Prismatic Blade, albeit in a broken state. Inspecting the broken blade, Rox said they can fix it with a little wish magic, much to Kur's confusion as the latter remarked that all the Djinn were gone. In response, Rox mused that not all were gone, making plans to find the last Djinn to repair the blade.

Fallen Wishes[]

Rox and several Dragonian Warriors arrived in Djinjago where Arrakore was granting wishes. Rox declared that all the Merged Lands would soon cower before her name before demanding Arrakore to fix the yellow prismatic blade. Upon seeing the blade and listening to Rox's intentions, Arrakore refused to grant her wish, knowing very well what evil acts could be accomplished with the weapon. Angered by the Djinn's defiance, Rox ordered her Dragonians to capture Arrakore, demanding once again afterwards for him to repair the blade. After he refused a second time, Rox warned him that if he doesn't help her by choice, she would make him grant the wish by force by trapping him in a timepiece, which will leave him no choice but to do so. Determined to resist Rox, Arrakore managed to teleport away before suddenly beginning to taunt her, stating that she was lucky the Ninja weren't there as they could easily defeat her. Unamused, Rox corrected him by stating that the Ninja aren't a match for the Forbidden Five, but Arrakore further taunted her by pointing out how the Ninja have saved the world many times and that Rox is nothing compared to them. Finally provoked, Rox blurted that she wished the Ninja were here so Arrakore could see how easy it is for her to crush them. With a smirk, Arrakore declared that her wish was hers to keep, much to her horror as she realized what she had just said.

Arrakore then summoned Sora and Riyu from the First Land and Nya from the City of Temples to Djinjago. Nya realized Rox wanted Arrakore to fix the broken Prismatic Blade, causing a fight to break out. During the battle, Sora wished for Rox's feet to be stuck to the ground, preventing her from moving. As the tide began to quickly turn against her Dragonians, Rox desperately began punching the ground with her fist to activate Shatterspin, freeing herself from Sora's wish. Unnoticed by the Ninja, Rox managed to sneak up on Arrakore from behind and trapped him within the timepiece via a spell. With Arrakore now unwillingly subservient to her will, Rox wished for the broken Prismatic Blade to be repaired. She then wished for the attacking Ninja to freeze, then state their inferiority compared to the Forbidden Five, and for them to un-freeze and bow before her. Delighted and amused by the power of infinite wishes, Rox began scheming of a way to end the three Ninja, but as she thought it over, it gave Sora enough time to develop a plan of her own. Finally, Rox began to make her wish to off the Ninja, but was only able to get as far as wishing for them to walk towards something before Sora ripped apart the timepiece with her own powers, freeing Arrakore. Startled and horrified, Rox attempted to continue her wish, but Arrakore declared she no longer had power over him and escaped. Rox then fought Nya and Sora using Shatterspin, but Nya was able to overwhelm her with Rising Dragon. Deciding to cut her losses now that the yellow prismatic blade had been restored and realizing that further fighting would be pointless, Rox ordered her forces to retreat as they returned to the Storm Village.

Their Draconic Majesty's Request[]

Rox with her army

Rox arrived back at Thunderfang's prison and used the repaired Yellow Prismatic Blade to sever the massive prismatic chain that bound Thunderfang’s left leg. Sparks flew, and the shattered links clattered to the ground like thunder in the silent chamber. Thunderfang unleashed a wind blast and remarked that he would expect the final two chains to be eliminated soon, to which Rox replied that the final blades were being hunted down right now, prompting the dragon to warn her that they better be.

Chaos Unchained[]

Rox waits for Drix with the others until the Master of Swarm sent one of his insects to call for reinforcements. Receiving the fly, Rox signaled the Five to assist Drix, with Nokt grabbing his sword and Kur getting up. They then flew to assist Drix in fighting the Ninja. Rox flies to battle Lloyd, saying the blades belong to the Five, but Lloyd mocks her by saying it doesn’t belong to them just because they want it really bad. While fighting, Rox notices Nokt flying to take Ras to a corner, and tries to tell him to focus on the task but Nokt ignores her, which she calls his action impulsive and foolish as Lloyd attacked her from behind with the Blue Prismatic Blade but she easily blocks it. After Drix loses the Returning Blade to Riyu and Zane, Rox attempts to grab it but Arin uses his grapple gun and gets it first before teasing her. Rox angrily calls Arin a runt and asked if he knows who he is messing with before Lloyd attacks her, but she repels him using Shatterspin. As Lloyd uses Rising Dragon, Rox flies straight at him and manages to land a Shatterspin blow in the Rising Dragon's underbelly, causing Lloyd to lose the Blue Prismatic Blade, which eventually ends up in Arin's hands.

Rox chases after him but is grabbed by Lloyd, who tells Arin to get back to the Monastery and he throws her. Rox continues to fight the Ninja when Lloyd again sneaks up on her from behind. When Arin spots Nokt about to kill Ras, he crashes the modified Dragon-headed drone into the Master of Brute Force. Kicking the drone off of him, Nokt laughs at Arin's attempts to defend Ras. Rox manages to attack Lloyd when he notices Arin rescuing Ras and then attacks Arin from behind, allowing Nokt to kick him with Brute Force before using a Shatterspin blow to kick him into the Winds of Chaos. Rox then catches the two Prismatic Blades and orders the rest of the Five that it is time to free Thunderfang. They use the tornado to distract the Ninja and head into the cave, where Rox handed Drix both blades before Drix gives the Blue Prismatic Blade to Zarkt. Once they got to Thunderfang, Rox has Drix and Zarkt use the remaining Prismatic Blades to free Thunderfang. After Thunderfang was released, Rox and the Five were blown back with a wind blast. She demands for the powers he promised but the Chaos Dragon revealed that it was never his intention to keep his word and considered them fools to even trust him, much to Rox's shock. He then absorbed the Five's souls, leaving their corpses in the prison.

Casket of Bones[]

Rox was waiting at the Well of the Lost with the other members of the Forbidden Five when Drix came back from the Administration with more souls for Thunderfang's ritual.

Under the Light of a Mechanical Moon[]

Rox's ghost working for Thunderfang

As Zarkt absorbed souls in the Land of Lee, Rox arrived back at the Well to transfer more stolen souls to power up Thunderfang's ritual, which pleased her master, who comments that his time has never been closer.

Later, as Zarkt returned from the Land of Lee with his soul collection, Rox, Kur, and Drix flank him and watched as he transferred his souls to the Well, unaware the Ninja were watching from a distance after they figured out Thunderfang and the Five were in the Spectral Lands. The Ninja later escaped after being caught by Spectral Dragonians.

The Vault of Focus[]

When Nokt failed to fill the Well of the Lost with enough souls, Rox transferred her stolen souls into the well, which erupted with power, and she watched as her master slowly becomes more powerful.

For Whom the Bell Tolls[]

As Thunderfang became more powerful, growing a large claw, he sensed the Ninja were going to wake his eternal enemy, the Arc Dragon of Focus. The dragon ghost then ordered Rox and the Five to stop them, unaware that Lloyd and Arin were in the Spectral Lands, waiting for the two halves to be awakened so they can join them into the Focus Arc Dragon through the Unbidden Storm to defeat him once and for all.

When Doves Cry[]

Along with Nokt and Drix, Rox sends Spectral Dragonians after Lloyd and Arin upon noticing the two were back in the Spectral Lands. The three then charge after and attack the two Ninja.

After Nokt fires Brute Force at the two, Rox attacks Lloyd's Jet Mech with Shatterspin while her brother fires more Brute Force at Arin's Spinjitzu Battle Mech. Thanks to the Spectral armor mechs, which were coated with Prismatic Ore, the duo were able to survive Nokt's attacks and Rox's Shatterspin. Rox was taken out when Lloyd grabbed Drix and threw him at her, which briefly left the two incapacitated. When Lloyd remembers Bleckt’s words that there was a cavern underneath the Well of the Lost, Nokt fires Brute Force at Arin while Rox and Drix recover and charge at the two Ninja but the duo manage to get into the cavernous well. She and the others weren't able to catch them.

Rox gathered with Nokt and Drix at the Well of the Lost, as Thunderfang declared to the Source Dragons that they refused him his rightful place among them but he will not be denied and announces his intention to force himself into their ranks to make them pay for rejecting him.

When the Arc Dragon of Focus was summoned, Rox stood with Nokt and Drix, watching their master fight his mortal enemy.

The destruction of the Well of the Lost led to the demise of Thunderfang, which released a surge of soul energy that returned the souls to the Hollow Ones. In this process, Rox and the other spectral Hollow Ones dissipated.

Personality

Personality[]

“Fail me again and the Forbidden Five will be the Forbidden Four.”
— Rox to Zarkt, "I Alone Can Save Them"
Rox's intimidating and cold-blooded disposotion.

Rox's intimidating and cold-blooded disposotion.

Rox, like the rest of the Forbidden Five, was an evil being. She appeared to be quite merciless, as shown when she mocked Zarkar and his fate and talked about the Five's plan of conquering the realms by subjugating or destroying people and their lands. Rox was even unconcerned of the three Arc Dragons' death, showing she doesn't care what effects her actions had on others, as long as it means satisfying her bloodlust and achieving her goal. She also seems to be smart, as during the Ritual of the Blood Moon, when Bonzle managed to resist Jordana long enough to shut the gate, she ensured that at least her soul made it out, knowing she wouldn't be able to cross the portal with her whole body. After Jordana was freed from her possession, she doesn't seem to care about what happens to her former host, and left her barely conscious for a few seconds before being returned to her own body. She also cares about the rest of the Five, checking on them while they were unconscious after being suddenly pulled out from the Nether-Space. However, she expressed annoyance to Nokt due to being weakened from the corrupted method they used to escape, which put a physical strain on her almost completely.

Rox also seems to not take failure lightly as seen when she reprimanded Zarkt after he failed to get the Blue Prismatic Blade and threaten to kill him if he failed again. However, she seems to hold Kur to a higher regard, as evidenced by her hope that the Master of Decay didn't fail as well.

Like her brother, Rox's arrogance is also her undoing, as after capturing Arrakore, which is even pointed out by Rox herself, she could have wished for the Ninja's doom or accept her victory and leave but chose to have Arrakore force the Ninja to admit the Five are superior, which gave Sora the opportunity to use her Technology power to break the djinn out.

After Thunderfang absorbed her soul, Rox became a Hollow One with complete obedience to her master. Despite this, she appeared to retain some of her personality judging from her timely arrival when Thunderfang chastised Nokt for his failure in Imperium. She also appears to want to be free from Thunderfang, as she didn't stop Lloyd and Arin from going into the cavern under the Well of the Lost, despite seeing them go under. Additionally, when Thunderfang fought the Arc Dragon of Focus, Rox didn't seem to mind her master's fight and defeat.

Appearance

Appearance[]

Rox without her mask

Rox without her mask

Rox is a corrupted anthropomorphic wolf who is shorter than most people since she has mid-legs. She had orange-yellow skin with red/persimmon colored markings around her head and red-orange eyes as well as two golden fangs protruding from her mouth. Her mouth is covered by a large white mengu-like mask that has a pattern resembling a large smile made of golden fangs. She wore a brown sandogasa hat like Kur, and her clothes consist of a black robe and tattered cape similar to Nokt's, but her robe had brown sleeves and segmented wood-like sash with black devilish patterns held by what appear to be circular golden links, in addition to a belt made of gold beads. Underneath her robe was a gray undershirt and on the back is a yellow and brown symbol of the Forbidden Five. She also sported black pants and gloves. Following her demise at the hands of Thunderfang with the rest of the Five and after being hollowed by the latter in the Spectral Lands, her skin color changed to light blue, the markings around her head and eyes became white/light gray, and her eyes glowed permanently red.

Weapons and abilities

Weapons and abilities[]

Abilities[]

  • Fear: Rox possesses the Elemental Power of Fear, allowing her to manipulate the emotional state of fear in other people.
  • Shatterspin: Since Rox was one of its creators, she possesses an advanced Shatterspin skillset. Rox is able to harness the powerful waves of the technique in a controlled manner of attack. She also didn't require the Gong of Shattering or a Wolf Mask to perform Shatterspin, as a professional of the technique. When activating the technique, Rox stomps her feet at least three or four times or punches the ground twice before her eyes glow red.
  • Theroxian Magic: Being a member of the Forbidden Five, she is highly skilled in Theroxian magic, even while she was still possessing Jordana.
    • Soul Projection/Transferal: When the Nether-Space portal was closing, Rox was able to separate her soul from her body and project it into Jordana's body in order to escape.[13]
      • Possession: After transferring her soul to Jordana's body, Rox was able to possess her for months.
        • Psychic link: Rox, while taking control of Jordana, created a physical connection between the Merged Realms and the Nether Space. This connection was evident in the way the other members of the Forbidden Five utilized Rox's body to send messages to both her and Nokt.
    • Spell casting/Magic incantations: Rox could use spells and cast incantations. For example, she was able to cast a static spell on the Ninja in "Elements of Betrayal".
      • Paralysis Inducement/Body Immobilization: Rox can use a static spell that paralyzes those hit by it. This included large mechs.
      • Container Imprisonment: Rox can trap other people in objects, such as when she imprisoned Arrakore inside a timepiece.
    • Evil Transformation/Corruption Inducement: Rox is able to transform and corrupt the Wolf Mask Warriors with ease, unlocking their full potential and putting them under her control to attack Ras and the Elemental Masters.
    • Dowsing: Rox is able to find things, as she found the Green Prismatic Blade underwater.
  • Wolf Physiology: As an anthropomorphic wolf from the Wyldness, Rox has the following abilities:
    • Night vision: Like a regular wolf, Rox possesses exceptional night vision, enabling her to see in dark environments like a cave or at night.
    • Superhuman strength: Despite her small appearance, Rox demonstrated superhuman strength, being able to pull the Crab tooth out of water and smash it to the ground. She was also able to grab Zarkt by his hat and slam him to the ground with ease while reprimanding him.
    • Superhuman durability/endurance: Despite her smaller appearance, Rox demonstrated superhuman durability/endurance, as she managed to take hits from the Ninja and keep on fighting immediately like it didn't affect her. She also took on Nya's water blasts and her Rising Dragon while getting up.
    • Superhuman reflexes: Rox has superhuman reflexes, as she managed to intercept Lloyd attacking her from behind.
    • Immense lung capacity: Being a wolf, Rox has greater lung capacity unlike other humans, allowing her to hold her breath underwater for an unknown time.
  • High Intelligence: Rox has a high intelligence as seen when she decided to transfer her own soul into Jordana during the Ritual of the Blood Moon, certain that she wouldn't be able to escape from the Nether-Space in her own body. She was also smart enough to come up with ways to hide her possession over Jordana without giving off any suspicions, although the ruse was almost discovered by Sora.
  • Expert craftswoman/Power Mask Forging: Rox is an expert in flawlessly crafting items as she was the one who made the Wolf Masks for the wolf warriors, which grant the wearer various powers.
  • Skilled Combatant: Rox is a dangerous combatant as she is a member of the Forbidden Five. This was demonstrated when she aided Nokt in killing three Arc Dragons using only Shatterspin, despite possessing Jordana. Later after returning to her regular body, she suffered the side effects of the corrupted method used to breach the Nether-Space and the portal gate explosion, which slightly hindered her abilities, but she was able to hold against Nya in Djinjago and go toe-to-toe with Lloyd when the Green Ninja attempted to attack her from behind more than once. Rox also managed to defeat Lloyd when he momentarily got distracted by Arin.
  • Leadership: Being one of the co-leaders of the Forbidden Five, Rox acts as the primary leader of the Five. As one of the leaders of the Wolf Clan, she led the wolf warriors to launch attacks wherever the Forbidden Five wanted in the Wyldness, although she mostly stayed back to forge the Wolf Masks. Etymology

Trivia

Trivia[]

  • Rox was one of two characters to possess another character for the majority of a season, the first being Morro, who possessed Lloyd for most of Possession. However, unlike Morro, Rox did not retain her voice when possessing Jordana.
  • Rox did not have access to her elemental power while possessing Jordana.[17]
  • She possesses a sandogasa hat that is nearly identical to the one worn by Kur (albeit the hat being a regular brown for Rox and light brown for Kur) and has never appeared in the show prior to their appearances, a characteristic that sets them apart from others in terms of silhouettes. However, the two could be distinguished from their heights, as she is the only one out of the five to have the posable short-leg piece.
    • According to Chris "Doc" Wyatt, Rox and Kur wear the same hat because "[they have] similar senses of fashion."[18]
  • She is the fifth character to have mid-legs, the first four being Nelson, Leroy, and the Sons of the First Spinjitzu Master.
    • She is also the first female character with this trait.
  • Tied with Nokt, Rox is the ninth/tenth major villain to have an identity hidden from the ninja, primarily due to their roles as the enigmatic assassins of the three Arc Dragons who endangered the Tournament of the Sources, with Rox also being the one who possessed Jordana. The first was Pythor, who was the stranger affiliated with the Overlord; the second was Krux, who was Dr. Saunders; the third was Harumi, who was the Quiet One; the fourth was Zane, who was the Ice Emperor; the fifth was Unagami, who was Prime Empire itself; rather than Milton Dyer as the ninja initially thought, the sixth was Vangelis, who was the Skull Sorcerer; the seventh as the Overlord, who adopted the name Crystal King, which led to the ninja’s curiosity about the Crystal King's identity, and the eighth was Ras' master as of "Elements of Betrayal."
    • Rox was also one of the three hidden antagonists during Season 2 of Dragons Rising, being involved with the mystery of who killed the three Arc Dragons and sent the attacker bots. The other two are Nokt and Bleckt.
  • Rox's clothes had the same patterns as Nokt's.
  • Rox shares some similarities with both Lloyd and Nya:
    • Rox's possession of Jordana may reference Delara's possession of Nya and Morro's possession of Lloyd.
    • Both Rox and Nya are related to another member of their team, being Nokt and Kai's sister respectively.
    • Rox's sword could be seen as a reference to Lloyd's golden dao and Nya's use of a katana in "Hands of Time".
    • Rox's crafting of the Wolf masks may reference Nya's blacksmithing heritage.
    • Rox's attitude is somewhat similar to Nya's.
    • Both Rox and Lloyd are leaders of their respective groups (alongside Nokt).
    • Rox being the shortest member of the Five could be a nod to how Lloyd used to be the shortest in his team (before he was aged up by Tomorrow's Tea).
  • Rox is the smartest member of the Forbidden Five.[19]
  • While the age difference between Rox and Nokt is only by a couple of years,[20] it's unclear who is older.[21]
    • In the Italian and Korean dub, she is referred to as Nokt's younger sister, while in the Dutch dub, she is referred to as his older sister.
  • Rox can howl like a real wolf if she wants to.[22]
