Background[]

At an unknown period of time in the past, the Fire Master and Rusty investigated the Cave of Change when they realized that people who entered never returned. During their investigation, Rusty's spear was shattered in a confrontation with the centipede monster who also captured the Fire Master inside of a cocoon and ate him, causing him to become part of it.

Fallen Master[]

Following his compass, Kai made his way into the Cave of Change where he confronted and fought against the centipede monster. In the ensuing battle, Kai was likewise defeated and cocooned, but he managed to slice his way out and escape. After exploring the cave and discovering a massive painting on one of the walls, Kai eventually came across Rusty and activated him, learning from the mech about his history and that of his fallen master.

Seeking the sentient mech's assistance in slaying the centipede monster, not knowing it was Rusty's fallen master, Kai repaired the mech's shattered spear and the two returned deeper into the cave chambers to confront the creature. In the ensuing battle, Kai realized that the centipede monster was actually Rusty's fallen master, having been assimilated into the creature. Although Kai offered to spare Rusty the pain of slaying his former master, Rusty refused and slew his fallen master himself.

Afterwards, the two gathered the Fire Master's discarded belongings and held a memorial for him outside the mouth of the cave.
