Pirate Attack! is the 13th issue of of the Ninjago Magazine. It includes 891613 Kai's Dragon and Destiny Kai appears on the cover. It was released on June 1, 2016.

The team of heroes decides to split up to find the Frigate of Misfortune and a map to Tiger Widow Island. However, an hour of searching turns up nothing, and Nya suggests they wait until evening to avoid being caught by the police. Kai refuses to wait and leaves, declaring that he can single-handedly capture Nadakhan and his band of pirates. However, after several hours, he still hasn't found anything. Reaching a coastal village, the red ninja overhears two sailors talking about a djinn high in the sky. Kai decides to follow them and summons an elemental dragon as the sailors board a boat.
While Kai barely manages to escape underwater from a suddenly appearing police helicopter, the other ninja become worried and set out to search. They check an underground fighting club, an amusement park, and even Kai and Nya's old house, but the fire ninja are nowhere to be found. Meanwhile, Kai reaches the old dock and attempts to sneak up on the suspects, but the dragon, having swallowed seawater, sneezes and reveals their location. The sailors turn out to be bandits and immediately rush into battle with a chain and knives.
The team of heroes gathers and discusses the results of their search, after which Jay shows his comrades the only clue—Kai's recent post, made somewhere near the old dock. Meanwhile, Kai fights off the criminals and chases them into an abandoned warehouse. When the dragon blows dust off the sign with its wings, it turns out to be the "Genie Fireworks" warehouse, from which the suspects were planning to steal fireworks for sale. The dragon sneezes again, causing the boxes in the warehouse to quickly ignite in flames. The hero manages to fly away from the building just in time, as dozens of fireworks begin to fly out of it. Kai returns to the village, where he meets up with the other ninja. He admits that he cannot search for pirates alone, but his comrades encourage him, assuring him that they are always ready to help.

- The comic takes place between "Enkrypted" and "Misfortune Rising." However in the story, the ninja visit public places without any disguise, despite hiding from the police at the time. As such, the comic is considered non-canon.
