Haunted Temple Extravaganza

Haunted Temple Extravaganza[]

The Day of the Departed had ended and the Ninja had completed settling into the restored Temple of Airjitzu. As they gathered together, enjoying some time off, Master Wu alerted the ninja that he had experienced a vision of a coming darkness - one that they all had to prepare now to face. As the ninja got ready to begin training, with Lloyd being urged to begin his master training, Cole expressed some reservations, explaining that he was not yet used to being human again.

While the others departed to train, Cole thought to himself about his situation, noting that he could no longer use the powers he had attained as a ghost - including the ability to phase through solid matter - which Cole only just realized as he absentmindedly smacked into a wall! Once he recovered, Cole was greeted by Master Yang, to whom Cole briefly expressed his frustration with having to relearn how to be human again. Offering his aid, Yang told Cole about the Scrolls of Humanity, claiming that they were located underneath Ninjago City and could only be found by the purest of heart; the scrolls, Yang claimed, contained all the information needed for former ghosts to relearn what it was like to be human again. Eager to discover these scrolls, Cole thanked Yang and rushed off to find his friends to inform them of his new discovery.

Rushing into another room of the temple, Cole found his friends dressed in camouflage patterned cloaks, alongside Dareth and Ronin. After Lloyd explained to Cole that they were about to start a session to practice camouflaging with their environment, Cole happily told his friends about what Yang had told him about the Scrolls of Humanity. Unfortunately, the other ninja did not return Cole's enthusiasm, either bursting into laughter or in Lloyd's case, reacting with an unimpressed groan. After Lloyd called the other ninja to begin their training, Ronin and Dareth discussed the possibility of turning the Temple of Airjitzu into a haunted tourist attraction while Cole made his way to Ninjago City on his own.

Sometime later, Cole made his way to the Ninjago Museum of History in search of Dr. Saunders. After being let into the curator's office by Saunders' assistant, Cole gave the elderly man a start before asking him about the Scrolls of Humanity and repeating what Yang had told him. During the conversation, Cole failed to notice that Saunders seemed nervous and hastily sent Cole off to the sewers in search of the scrolls, claiming that they were as far from the museum as possible. Meanwhile, the other ninja returned from their training session to discover that Dareth and Ronin had made good on their plans of transforming the Temple of Airjitzu into a tourist attraction.

Elsewhere, Cole had descended into the sewers and was wandering about, searching for the Scrolls of Humanity. After sometime of wandering, Cole found himself in a corridor laced with booby traps! Unbeknownst to him, this area was beneath Haunted Hill, the former resting place of the Temple of Airjitzu, and Yang himself had installed these traps years ago to deter unwanted guests. After dodging rows of spikes, volleys of arrows, and a giant, rolling spiked ball, Cole decided that enough was enough. Using Airjitzu and his new Earth Punch, Cole escaped through the ceiling of the sewers and fled back to the Temple of Airjitzu. As he neared the temple, covered and dripping from head to toe in green sewage, Ronin and Dareth's patrons mistook Cole for an actual ghost and ran away in terror. Yang then greeted Cole and asked how he was feeling, noting that Cole didn't need the help of a completely made up scroll to feel human after all. After expressing gratitude for Yang's assistance once more, the ghostly Master noted that since Cole was human again, he could finally take a shower; he was covered in stinky sewage after all!
