Book of Spinjitzu

Overview

For the real-life book, see The Book of Spinjitzu.
“The information it contains is to be used wisely, and only for good. It is my hope that the reader will let the power of Spinjitzu unlock the True Potential within them to become one of Ninjago Island's great champions. And, should I not be here tomorrow, this is my legacy...”

The Book of Spinjitzu[1] is a journal in which Master Wu wrote lessons he had learned from his many years of experience to teach his students the way of the ninja and the art of Spinjitzu. Wu also wrote down his father's lessons there and used it as a diary where he wrote the most important events in his life.

History

History[]

Prior to the series[]

Wu kept an account of his own experiences of learning Spinjitzu. When he was young, Wu wrote the secrets he learned from the Scroll of Forbidden Spinjitzu, but when he was older and wiser, he placed a seal over it so no one would ever see it. At some points in his life, he stopped writing in it for years but resumed after Garmadon's banishment and while training the ninja.[2]

During The Hands of Time[]

Shortly before Wu disappeared, he was somehow aware that he would lose his memories, so he wrote a secret message in red to the book: "I will return in time... Help me remember Spinjitzu."[3]

Way of the Departed[]

Lloyd found the Book of Spinjitzu and realized it was written by Wu after he was hit with the Time Punch. Lloyd's power connected with the book, revealing different passages when the time was right. One of these passages includes information about the Time Twins, who Wu realized were manipulated by Chen and Clouse. He also learned that it was Chen who told them where to look for the Great Devourer's eggs.

Master Class[]

Wu is seen holding and referring to the book while Kai is complaining about having to attend a Spinjitzu lesson, believing the ninja know everything there is to know.

  • When asked if Wu's lesson book was the same as the Book of Spinjitzu, Tommy Andreasen simply noted, "It has the same cover."[4]
  • Tommy Andreasen wrote scripts for a clip show that "focused on lessons from Wu (lost in time) written down for Lloyd on secret pages in the book of Spinjitzu and had lots of new info." Due to its melancholic tone, however, this idea was reworked into Decoded.[5]
