During training at the monastery, Kai gets hit hard by a training dummy and loses consciousness. When he wakes up, he cannot remember how he got to the dojo or who his friends are. The ninja try to show him familiar things, but they all seem unfamiliar to Kai.
Jay suggests going to the Wildwood Forest, where the ninja have previously defeated enemies, but this didn't help Kai to regain his memories. Suddenly, they were attacked by Wyplash and another Skulkin to whom he had told about all the fighting techniques of the heroes. The skeleton ninja defeats the heroes one by one, until only Kai remains. The red ninja grabs the Sword of Fire and tries to escape, but accidentally hits a tree.
While the skeletons celebrate their victory, Kai finally comes to his senses and remembers everything. He uses new moves that he learned during his morning training, and since the skeleton ninja didn't know about them, he can't fight back against the Fire Ninja. The enemies run away, and Kai's friends thank him for saving them. Kai promises that he will never forget his new family.

- The comic takes place sometime between "Secrets of the Blacksmith" and Season 1, as Kai and Nya are already living in the monastery and Skulkin are still the main villainous faction.
- This is the only Ninjago Magazine comic to directly mention that the Skulkin using Wyplash's Legacy design is indeed Wyplash.
