Too Fast, Too Ninja
Too Fast, Too Ninja[]
Shortly after their encounter at Ed & Edna's Scrap N Junk with Tech Wu and the Stranger, the Ninja are left to discuss the gravity of their current situation. As they discuss, a flyer hits Kai in the face, claiming to be an advert for the "High-Octane Street Race," with the grand prize being none other than the Overlord hard drive! Although Kai was eager to participate in the race to end their troubles with The Overlord immediately, the other ninja quickly deduce that the flyer was too good to be true. Unfortunately, Kai's recklessness overrides his sense of logic and he has already sped off to participate in the race in his Prototype X-1.
In the outskirts of Ninjago City, Kai pulls up to the starting line alongside a Stone Warrior, a Venomari Scout, and a Nindroid Drone. After the race begins, Kai was almost immediately attacked by the Stone Warrior's Warrior Bike, though Kai pushed back in response and instead eliminated the Stone Warrior from the race. Pushing onwards, the Venomari Scout sped on ahead of the competition though Kai totaled their car too by sticking a katana into the car's wheels. Leaving just Kai and the Nindroid Drone as the sole competitors, the Drone attempted to eliminate Kai by hurling several grenades into the street, but Kai swerved out of the way and drove onto a flatbed truck. Stepping harder on the gas pedal, Kai used the flatbed's loading ramp to boost himself far and ahead of the Nindroid Drone and crossed the finish line! Unfortunately however, this race turned out to be a trap after all, as the Venomari announcer summoned an army of Nindroid Drones to subdue Kai.
Fortunately, the other Ninja and P.I.X.A.L. arrived just in time to help Kai fend off the army of Nindroid Drones, defeating the horde. As Kai fought, the Nindroid Drone who had participated in the race called out to him and specifically challenged him to a fight, insisting that it was the rightful winner of the race. As the two leapt towards one another, Kai swiftly cut down the drone in a single strike. Before its lights faded, the Drone conceded to Kai as the winner of the street race. Once their enemies had been defeated, Jay turned to Kai and rhetorically asked him if he still believed the race wasn't a trap. In response, Kai signed and apologized, but admitted that he wanted so badly to save Wu that he just had to give the race a shot. As the Ninja boarded Zane's NinjaCopter to continue their search of Serpentine with white scales, Kai joked that they had all been invited to another race and jokingly asked if they should participate in it, eliciting collective groans from everyone else.
