On the Island of the Keepers, Ronin and his gang are attempting once more to escape following their defeat at the hands of the Ninja. Unfortunately, they are quickly discovered and recaptured, with Chief Mammatus calling in the ninja to take Ronin and his henchmen back to Ninjago. Shortly thereafter, the ninja return to the island aboard Destiny's Bounty to collect the prisoners, promising Mammatus that they will be sent to Kryptarium Prison.

As the ninja begin to fly back towards the mainland, a lone boat drifting along the Endless Sea waits for them, and once the Bounty is within range, its crew deploys a large grappling hook onto the Bounty's deck, threatening to pull the airship out of the sky! Plummeting to the sea below, the ninja brace themselves for impact as they land with a large splash. Kai immediately turns to Ronin, accusing him of playing another one of his old tricks, though the mercenary denies this, claiming it may instead be the work of some old associates of his. Moments later, the Bounty is boarded by a group of henchmen declaring that they have come to free the prisoners.

Although the ninja almost effortlessly route the henchmen, they soon discover that this was merely a diversion tactic to allow Ronin enough time to free himself and the others from their cage. While the criminals flee into the boat, they set off charges they had placed on the Bounty's thrusters, damaging its flight capabilities to cover their escape. Fortunately, Nya's quick thinking in using her powers of Water worked just fine to propel the Bounty across the Endless Sea and the ninja soon begin to overtake Ronin's getaway, smashing directly into the smaller boat and capsizing it.

As Ronin and his goons tread the water's surface, the ninja deploy ropes against the Bounty's sides, urging them to climb onboard. At first, Ronin refuses, believing that he and his goons could swim their way to freedom...at least until he spots a pack of vicious Ripper Sharks that is! Suddenly deciding that prison was a better fate than being devoured, Ronin and his goons scrambled their way onboard the Bounty, just narrowly missing the gaping jaws of the sharks. Once all had been settled, Ronin sheepishly asked the ninja what their next destination would be - a question Lloyd answered by stating Ronin already knew the answer, with Cole chiming in that it for sure would not be a vacation at all!

Trivia[]

  • The comic is set presumably between The Tooth of Wojira and A Big Splash, though it is curious the ninja decided to leave Ronin and his goons behind on the Island of the Keepers before being called back to take them to Kryptarium.
