“Don't mind them, they all get a little grouchy when they don't get their meat.”
Noble to the ninja, "Enkrypted"

The Kryptarium inmates are the prisoners of Kryptarium Prison.

History

History[]

Tournament of Elements[]

The Greatest Fear of All[]

The ninja visited Kryptarium Prison to see Pythor when the Anacondrai Cultists set the inmates free, leaving Kai, Jay, Zane and Cole to fight all of them as well as the cultists while Lloyd and the masters escaped with Pythor to protect him. The fighting dragged on so to regroup, Cole smashed through the walls to reach the courtyard, allowing the inmates to follow suit. As the ninja left using an ice bridge, Kai melted the bridge trapping the inmates, who were then sent back to their cells by Warden Noble.

Skybound[]

Enkrypted[]

Various inmates, including the Hagemans and Wyplash, watched and shouted angrily as the Ninja were escorted past the general population section of Krypatrium. Wyplash in particular roared that the Ninja were responsible for putting him in prison in the first place and angrily banged against his cell when the Ninja walked past.

After being moved to the super dangerous population, the Ninja were met with more scowls and encountered The Mechanic, a former engineer who worked for Chen. At lunch, the Ninja were greeted by Soto when the pirate captain overheard their conversation about Djinn and regaled his story of how he once defeated Nadakhan over two hundred years ago. Soto's story would be interrupted, however, by the Mechanic, instigating a massive brawl in the process.

Later that evening, the Ninja escaped from Kryptarium, breaking Soto out in the process, in exchange for information about the map to Tiger Widow Island.

Sons of Garmadon[]

True Potential[]

Harumi greeted the rest of the S.O.G. and released them from their cells. Meanwhile, Warden Noble allowed them to be free and is kicked out after Harumi stated that they would stay for longer.

Hunted[]

Two Lies, One Truth[]

In Kryptarium Prison, Griffin, the Police Commissioner, Karlof, Misako, and even Ronin are seen locked in cells. Ronin, who shares his cell with Misako states that he hopes Lloyd can pull through; to which Misako confirms that the Green Ninja can. Unconvinced, Ronin simply replies, "Easy for you to say; you're his mother."

Green Destiny[]

In Kryptarium Prison, a grunt from the Sons of Garmadon frantically informs his comrades that the ninja have returned to Ninjago. Overhearing this, the imprisoned civilians and Elemental Masters regain hope and desire to help the ninja. They start shouting "The resistance never quits." since they are now inspired to break free. Ronin, Karlof, and Griffin Turner cause a riot in the prison before escaping their cell and releasing their friends from the cells.

Tales from the Monastery of Spinjitzu[]

The Weekend Drill (flashback)[]

The inmates cheered on as the prison guards struggled to keep the Giant Stone Warrior contained. Cole entered Kryptarium Prison with his Earth Driller and only made matters worse when he released Killow from his cell. In the end, both were defeated and placed back in their cell which resulted in jeering from the inmates.

Secrets of the Forbidden Spinjitzu[]

Questing for Quests[]

The ninja entered Kryptarium Prison believing a fight has occurred, but it was only a recording as the inmates were learning to resolve a conflict.

The Absolute Worst[]

The Mechanic, Ultra Violet, and Fugi-Dove escaped Kryptarium Prison before being recaptured by P.I.X.A.L.

Prime Empire[]

Level Thirteen[]

All Kryptarium inmates including The Mechanic, Ultra Violet, and Captain Soto were released by Unagami. They penetrated Borg Tower in an attempt to retrieve the original Prime Empire arcade cabinet, but failed to do so as all the ninja entered Prime Empire while Zane, Cyrus Borg, and P.I.X.A.L. stole the Prime Empire motherboard upon their escape.

Prior to The Island[]

After the inmates escaped from Kryptarium Prison. Ronin was hired by the Ninjago Police to capture them. However, Ronin decided to have them help him steal the Keepers' resources, they built a ship that resembled Wojira and rode into the Keepers' Village every week to receive tribute.

The Island[]

The Tooth of Wojira[]

Kryptarium inmates were hard at work running their operation in a cove off the shores of the Island of the Keepers. However, the ninja, who had been pursuing the fake Wojira for its capture of Jay, attacked the operation and easily routed the inmates and their ringleader. Following their defeat, the inmates and Ronin were imprisoned in the Keeper's Village to await their return to Kryptarium.

Crystalized[]

A Mayor Problem[]

In an effort to save Nya, Lloyd, Zane, and Kai sneaked into Kryptarium Prison to break out Aspheera.

Ninjago City vs. Ninja[]

As a result of breaking Aspheera out and stealing her staff from a convoy, Judge Toughbutt sentenced the ninja to five years in Kryptarium.

Kryptarium Prison Blues[]

Skylor and Dareth visit the ninja to plan a way to overturn their verdict as well as inform them of Vangelis' escape, which Lloyd believes to be connected to the Crystal King. As their visit time was up, Jay asks about Nya, who was denied visitation rights. At lunch, they encounter Pythor, who was arrested by the New Ninja and started a food fight against them, only to be thwarted by the guards. Later that night, crystal spiders broke in and recruit Pythor into the Council of the Crystal King, which is noticed by the ninja, who attempt to stop him. However, their actions which led to a guard tower's destruction cost them an additional 20 years to their sentence.

Hounddog McBrag[]

The ninja are woken up and placed on work detail to clean up Route 22. However, while en route, the guards are stopped by Dareth, disguised as an old man, saying he has a bad engine, which led the perfect opportunity for Nya to break the ninja, and inadvertently Fugi-Dove, out of the bus.

Brave But Foolish[]

While watching the news in the rec room, most of the inmates hope that the ninja will perish, but Ronin, despite some beef with them, tells the inmates that the Overlord will destroy everyone in Ninjago (including the inmates) if the ninja do perish, making the inmates change their minds and support the team.

Return of the Ice Emperor (flashback)[]

When the power went out at Kryptarium Prison, all the inmates were able to escape while Ronin, Killow, Ultra Violet and Fugi-Dove go on to help the Ninja.

Trivia

Trivia[]

  • Every month, the inmates go to Route 22 to clean up trash, with those who work hard get to have time off in the sun and cold lemonade while those who make trouble would get nothing.[5]
  • It is unknown what happened to the prisoners when Harumi and Lord Garmadon took it over in "True Potential." They may have simply been off-screen or escaped.
  • Approximately, over 57 prisoners have been in Kryptarium (never all 57+ at once).
  • As of Sons of Garmadon, most of the inmates no longer wear prison jumpsuits. The reason for this is unknown but was likely done for the fans to easily recognize the characters or to save on production costs by not having to render new models for each inmate.
  • Garmadon was imprisoned in a very special solitary confinement cell known as cell one, which is only accessible by Noble's eye iris and a retractable bridge.
  • They are the fifth villainous faction to consist mainly of humans, following the Anacondrai Cultists, the Sky Pirates, the Sons of Garmadon, and the henchmen.
  • There are differences in who are the members of this group between different types of animation (original animation from pilot episodes to Season 7 by WILFilm ApS and GDC, improved animation from Season 8 to Season 10 by WILFilm ApS and Xentrix Studios, and current animation by WildBrain)
  • Ninjago Magazines featured Kryptarium inmates four times:
  • All the unnamed inmates and other characters wearing prison uniforms (including the ninja and Pythor in Season 15) reuse a generic prisoner torso print from LEGO City that was in production from 2014 to 2021.
