Djinjago (reconstruction)

Overview

“I know it doesn't look like much now, but this place will soon become Djinjago. With each ninja my Djinn Blade consumes, the more power I'm beholden to resurrect my home world. This is what you sacrificed for. Not some girl. For a home. I cannot do this alone, Flintlocke. I need you. I need our crew. Together, we can make this place ours.”

Djinjago was a group of floating landmasses in the skies of Ninjago, created to supplant a realm with the same name after it collapsed as a result of the Cursed Realm's destruction. Given an ancient weapon by his father, the Djinn Nadakhan absorbed souls into a sword, which allowed him to tear chunks out of Ninjago and levitate them in the sky in an effort to recreate his home realm. Using various vehicles, including Raid Zeppelins and Misfortune's Keep, Nadakhan successfully resurrected his realm within Ninjago, and then sought to marry Nya in order to gain infinite wishes.

History

History[]

On a Wish and a Prayer[]

By using the Djinn Blade, Nadakhan ripped a portion of Ninjago City out from the ground and into the sky. Later, after being tired of Flintlocke's constant questioning of his plans, Nadakhan brought his crew to the multiple parcels of Ninjago that he had ripped into the sky, explaining that they were the beginnings of his goal of rebuilding Djinjago. With his crew now made aware of his plan, they got to work in towing the lifted parcels to assemble them to their Captain's design.

My Dinner With Nadakhan[]

Gayle Gossip reported on the reconstruction of Djinjago as she and her camera crew approached the floating landmasses aboard their helicopter. Although hoping to interview the residents of the floating islands, they were instead shot down by a Raid Zeppelin. Shortly after the downing of the NGTV helicopter, Nadakhan returned to Djinjago aboard Misfortune's Keep.

Wishmasters[]

The reconstruction of Djinjago continued to progress, with new structures having notably been constructed on some of the floating islands as another parcel of land, this one containing the Temple of Airjitzu, lifted into the sky. As Dogshank towed this parcel of land, she asked her captain if he wanted the temple torn down for scrap, to which he declined. As Nadakhan watched Dogshank evict the ghostly inhabitants of the temple, Flintlocke approached to introduce Nadakhan to two civilians who had expressed an interest in joining the Sky Pirate ranks.

Unbeknownst to the Sky Pirates, however, the remaining Ninja had managed to commandeer one of their Raid Zepplins and were using it to infiltrate Djinjago. Later, after a brief skirmish with the Ninja, Nya and Jay managed to escape from Djinjago but Lloyd and Cole were captured by the Djinn Blade.

Operation Land Ho![]

After capturing Nya after the siege at Lighthouse Island, the Sky Pirates brought her to the renovated Temple of Airjitzu at the center of the completed reconstruction of Djinjago. There, Doubloon and Clancee tried to prepare Nya with a wedding dress but struggled against her resistance. At some point, Dogshank returned to the reconstruction, marching into the temple where she relayed Nadakhan's orders to Bucko and Squiffy before fitting Nya into the wedding dress.

Sometime later, Jay and his newly assembled Ninja Replacements infiltrated the reconstruction of Djinjago by hitching a ride atop the next parcel of Ninjago that was lifted into the skyline. After successfully making their way to the Temple of Airjitzu without being spotted, Jay attempted to free Nya from her room in the temple while the rest of his team hid in one of the adjacent sheds. Unfortunately, the bars lining the windows to Nya's room had been heavily reinforced, preventing Jay from freeing her. To make matters worse, a passing Raid Zeppelin carrying multiple pirates, including Cyren, spotted Jay and approached to attack him. Angered, Jay swung onto the Zeppelin and quickly took out the pirates as he continued attempting to wish that Nadakhan wasn't a Djinn, but unfortunately he was too far from Nadakhan's earshot for his wish to be granted.

After Jay entered the Djinn Blade to rescue the rest of the Ninja, Bucko led an army of Sky Pirates to the Temple of Airjitzu, coming into conflict with the Ninja Replacements who fought as hard as they could to buy Jay enough time to return from the Djinn Blade. Although they were nearly overwhelmed by the Sky Pirates' greater numbers, Jay managed to succeed in rescuing his friends, obliterating the shed in the process. With the Ninja now standing side by side with the Ninja Replacements, they were ready to crash a wedding.

The Way Back[]

The ninja went off to the wedding ceremony at the Temple of Airjitzu to poison Nadakhan and save Nya. Wu, Misako and various other allies went back to Ninjago to commence an evacuation, knowing that if Nadakhan is struck by a Tiger Widow's venom, he will lose his powers and Djinjago will fall apart onto Ninjago far below.

The ninja few and crash Misfortune's Keep through Yang's former temple, destroying both the temple and the airship. Aided by Flintlocke and Dogshank, the ninja weaken Nadakhan with the venom—which causes Djinjago to start crumbling apart, destroying much of the city below along with the ninjas' ship. However, Jay realizes Nya was hit by the venom as well, and she dies. As Nadakhan tries to strike him down with his sword, Jay wishes none of the events since Clouse found the Teapot of Tyrahn and freed Nadakhan had transpired. Weak and unable to twist his words, Nadakhan granted Jay's final wish, erasing recent events.

Currently, the last remnant of Djinjago in the new timeline is the floating island containing the Temple of Airjitzu.
