Gayle Gossip is an anchorwoman and a reporter who works for NGTV News.

History

History[]

Game of Masks (flashback)[]

Gayle reported that the Great Devourer was attacking Ninjago City, meaning all citizens should leave at once.

Legacy of the Green Ninja[]

The Day Ninjago Stood Still[]

When the ninja watched the news from Dareth's Mojo Dojo, Gayle was reporting on the strong earthquakes hitting Ninjago City. Unbeknownst to anyone at the time, the quakes were being caused by the Serpentine, who were tunneling under Ninjago City in hopes of sinking it.

Later, when Dareth escaped the Stone Warrior in his Dojo, he accidentally ran over Gayle's cameraman, Vinny, who left in irritation. Gayle then forced Dareth to be her new cameraman.

Dareth tried to inform her of an approaching Stone Warrior, but she ignored his warning until she was lifted into the air by the Warrior. Zane kicked the Stone Warrior out of the way and caught Gayle before she can fall to the ground, after which she joined the rest of the citizens in evacuating in the Destiny's Bounty.

Tournament of Elements[]

The Corridor of Elders[]

At Ninjago Park, Gayle was among the group inspired by Zane to fight against Chen's Anacondrai army.

After the battle, Gayle helped Karlof with cleaning up the debris in the Corridor of Elders.

Skybound[]

My Dinner With Nadakhan[]

The following events were undone due to Jay's final wish, and thus, did not happen in the current timeline.

Gayle reports on the missing pieces of Ninjago, finding them in the sky before her helicopter is hit by one of Nadakhan's forces and she is sent down the ocean, presumably killed.

Gayle was among those who turned out for the Royal Blacksmith concert on the Day of the Departed.

At Dareth's bar, the ninja watch Gayle on TV, reporting the Sons of Garmadon leader Harumi's escape. Later, they watch at the police station where Gayle reports the Kryptarium Prison has been taken over by Harumi and Lord Garmadon.

Gayle reports on the news that the garbage depot has been ambushed.

On the TV, Gayle instructs the citizens to leave the city to find safety.

Green Destiny[]

In an alleyway, Gayle and her cameraman are confronted by several Sons of Garmadon, but the Brown Ninja comes in and stops them. Gayle then swoons over him.

March of the Oni[]

Gayle went live on the harbor to report the unveiling of the Bounty.

Into the Breach[]

When Vinny tried to send a message, Gayle told him they have to broadcast soon.

The Fall[]

Gayle begins writing a script for the broadcast. When she hears everyone cheering, she is told the ninja were here to rescue them. She was disappointed that she has to rewrite her report but boards the Bounty anyway. She was among those shocked when she heard about Cole falling off, despite her previously grilling him for the ninja ruining her report.

Gayle can be seen celebrating with the ninja in the Monastery of Spinjitzu.

At some point after the Oni's invasion, Gayle Gossip did a report about Garmadon's alliance with the ninja.

Gayle reports that the ninja and Clutch are about to go inside the pyramid.

Snaketastrophy[]

Gayle reports, to her annoyance, on a puppy-petting competition before an Elemental Cobra attacks and scares the puppies away. After the interruption, Gayle decides to change her report as she ventures after one of the Elemental Cobras.

When she is back in the air, she spies on Aspheera before she is caught by the serpentine sorceress. After arguing whether the ninja are dead or alive, Aspheera demands Gayle to tell her where the Ninjago Museum of History is located, but Vinny spills the beans as he tells her the location. The two are later taken by Elemental Cobras.

Powerless[]

Gayle follows Aspheera into the Museum, and when Aspheera fights the ninja, she and Vinny escape.

Ancient History[]

Gayle reports the Pyro Vipers invasion in front of the museum.

The Kaiju Protocol[]

Gayle is reporting on the Preeminent's arrival in Ninjago City when the Preeminent interrupts her and blows her news helicopter away. She is saved by Samurai X and watches them fight. After Samurai X defeats the Preeminent, she ends her broadcast, thanking Samurai X.

Okino helps Gayle Gossip escape from the Red Visors. A short time later, she, Okino, and Vinny are surrounded by the Red Visors, but they shut down after Unagami relieved control of them.

The Calm Before the Storm[]

Gayle Gossip reported on the evacuation order issued throughout Ninjago City from Ninjago Harbor, adding that an intense stormfront was approaching the city as well, suggesting that the storm could have been the reason for the evacuation order. Not long after, Kalmaar revealed himself, riding atop of Wojira, triggering a tsunami in the process. Gayle and Vinny then fled aboard the NGTV Helicopter in an attempt to escape from the impending wall of water. As they flew off, Gayle asked Vinny if he was still recording everything that was going on around them.

Assault on Ninjago City[]

After successfully escaping the tsunami, Gayle continued to dutifully perform her job as a newscaster, reporting on the current events from Ninjago City's midtown. Her broadcast however, would be interrupted by the arrival of Wojira from behind, forcing her and Vinny to once again flee, this time aboard the Destiny's Bounty.

Season 15: Crystalized[]

Gayle Gossip along with the Police Commissioner were one of the first to arrive where Miss Demeanor originally was, but they only discovered the New Ninja.

Crystastrophe[]

Gayle and her television crew arrived in the Farmers' village to report on an ongoing battle between the ninja and a new faction of Crystal Warriors.

Dragon Form[]

Gayle took up arms and assisted the Resistance in fighting back against the Crystal army.

Roots[]

Gayle celebrated the defeat of the Crystal army in the streets of Ninjago City and would later assist the ninja in rebuilding their monastery.

Behind the scenes[]

  • Her hairpiece was originally used on the Ice Skater from Minifigures Series 4.
  • Her face is based on the generic face from LEGO City.
  • Her torso is a recolored version of a recurring torso from LEGO Town.
  • She has a smaller mouth from Season 8 onward.
  • The hair piece of Gayle's LEGO figure is different from the one she uses in the show. The reason for this was that the original hair piece is retired by 2023.

  • Dareth has proposed to Gayle on several occasions but was consistently rejected.[1]
  • Gayle had a crush on Dareth after he saved her life from the Sons of Garmadon. However, she knew him as the Brown Ninja, as he was masked.
  • It is unknown why she was not arrested by the Sons of Garmadon, as she had been an ally of the ninja in the past. However, it's possible that none of the Sons of Garmadon knew that she was an ally and thought she was still just a reporter.
  • Fred Finely is Gayle's rival.[2]
  • She has high regard for herself as a news person.[citation needed]
  • Although she first appeared in Season 2, it is clear that she worked as a reporter in Season 1, because she appears in a flashback in "Game of Masks" taking place at the time of "Day of the Great Devourer".
  • The only seasons she has not appeared since her debut are seasons 3, 5 and 13.
  • Her design appears multiple times in the crowd at The Royal Blacksmiths' concert in "Day of the Departed".
  • She is called Tina Tratsch in German versions of Ninjago media, as "Tratsch" is the German translation of "Gossip".
