Family[]

Lagravis[]

Laval is Lagravis' son. They have a great family bond. Lagravis is always teaching and guiding his son to become a great leader like him. He cares very much for his son, and Laval, although he may not like his father's rules, cares for him just as much. Lagravis can be very protective of his son at some points. It is possible that since Laval's mother is not seen in the show, they have a stronger bond than most fathers and sons.

Laval's relationship with his father at the start of Season One is much different than it is at the end. Laval thinks his father is a good one, but he hates doing chores and listening to his rules and stories. Throughout the season, he learns lessons from his father and they respect each other as well as show how much they mean to the other much more.

In episode 2, Laval listens to the Great Story and mocks his father as he tells it. He says it is boring and that he has heard it hundreds of times. By the end of the episode, after his Age of Becoming ceremony and battle with Cragger, he starts realizing the meaning of the story and he says that now it has a better ending.

In many other episodes, Laval learns lessons from Lagravis, but usually does something rash without thinking of the consequences of his actions.

In episode 17, Laval is exiled, and his father begs him to ask the elders for a pardon. Laval tells him that doing so would be unfair and that he'll take the punishment. Lagravis wonders how his son became so responsible and wise, and Laval says because he had the best teacher in the world. Later, when they are reunited after Laval saves Lagravis from Cragger's dungeon, Lagravis convinces Laval to return since he needed him much more than he needed the rules.

When Laval fakes his death, Lagravis is devastated. He decides to fight back against the Crocs, Wolves, and Ravens even though their vehicles have been destroyed, since he is so furious for his son's apparent death. Later, he gives a small 'speech' about his son's brilliant plan without even knowing for sure if that's the plan.

This shows his love and confidence in Laval's abilities along with the hope that his son is alive.

When Lagravis is watching the heroes of Chima leave for the Outlands, he gives Laval a special shield and wishes him a safe trip. They don't see each other until the end of the season. Lagravis notices the hero coming and immediately whispers his son name in relief. After the other tribes arrive, he declares it "one of the happiest days in all of the history of Chima." He states that it's because the Legend Beasts have returned "and so has my son." before pulling Laval into a close hug. Their experiences in the war for CHI brought them much closer together as family and tribe-mates.

In the beginning of season 3, Laval makes a comment about how his father gave him "a sweet new ride". This implies that Lagravis is very proud of his son. During the episode 'The Crescent', Lagravis is horrified when Laval admits that he can't remember when Lagravis had last laughed, he makes a goal to show his son that he is capable of laughter. At the end, he laughs at his son when he tells him about Li'Ella. He clearly believes his son is to young for love, which shows that he is still a bit over protective of his son.

In 'The King Thing', Laval is forced to take on the responsibility of being king, as his father was captured in the previous episode. He struggles with it greatly. All he wants is his father back. When the Ice Hunters attack, he fights Sir Fangar, telling him to "Give me my father" in "A Very Slippery Slope" when they free the captives. Laval hugs his father, telling him how glad he was to have him back and his dislike of being king.

Lavertus[]

Lavertus and Laval are closely related, but they never met until Laval was a teenager and had to journey into the Outlands to find the Legend Beasts. They have a lot in common and have a close bond.

They are apart in season one, and Laval doesn't even know Lavertus is still alive or that Lavertus is his uncle. Laval only met Lavertus when Lavertus was disguised as ShadoWind.

They meet in the first episode of season two, and although Lavertus acts odd, Laval thinks he is cool and is amazed that he has a workout dummy too. They become good friends, and Laval is amazed that he is actually ShadoWind. In the last episode of season 2, Laval learns that they are uncle and nephew right before Lavertus apparently dies in a rockfall. Laval later learns more about him by consulting Skinnet, exploring his home, and reading his book about his adventures, known as the "ShadoWind Chronicles".

Laval is amazed at the fact that his uncle is alive. They meet again in the gorge where Lavertus rescues him and his friends.

Love Interest[]

Li'Ella[]

When Laval and Li'Ella meet in "The Crescent", Laval starts to have a crush on her. Li'Ella thinks that some male lions are cute, mostly Laval. When she was captured by Sir Fangar, Laval showed great care for Li'Ella as he went to rescue her right away in "A Very Slippery Slope" and continued to seek her with all of Chima's tribes in "The Artifact". In "The Heart of Cavora", Li'Ella calls Laval her boyfriend.

They've since started dating.

Friends[]

Cragger[]

Laval and Cragger are best friends. They have known each other since they were little kids. Until the battles for CHI began, they never had any fights (except play-fights). Their friendship all changed when Cragger started only caring about getting more and more CHI. Eventually, they resolved their conflicts and became friends again. They have one of the strongest bonds of friendship in all of Chima.

In season one, they are best friends at the beginning, but when Cragger plugs CHI before the Age of Becoming, everything changes for many months.

In season two, their friendship is intact again, and it has become even stronger since they have to venture to the Outlands together and save Chima.

Eris[]

Laval and Eris have been friends for a very long time and they became best friends after Cragger became temporarily evil. It is hinted that they may have stronger feelings for each other, but they do not actually say it aloud to anyone. Both of them share common ideas on peace in Chima and they enjoy going on adventures together, but Eris often has to cheer Laval up when he whines about chores and fights. Eris is always there for Laval when he needs help and Laval is eager to do the same for her. Laval likes to tease Eris that he calls her "Wing-Girl" while Eris often calls him "Fur-Boy" in return.

Many residents of Chima see them as a couple, but they both immediately deny that they like each other in that way. In some ways, this makes it seem like they do in fact have crushes on each other since they act very awkward afterwards. In one of Eris' biographies, it states that she has a secret crush on Laval (at least since the start of Season 1).

In the first season, Eris and Laval are almost always seen together, whether in battles, quests, gatherings or just hanging out or partying.

• In The Warrior Within, Cragger (when he was under Crooler's manipulation by using a Persuader Plant) calls Eris "Laval's girlfriend", which embarrasses them both. Later, Eris saves Laval and risks her own life for her friend in the Gorge of Eternal Depth.
• The Joy Ride is one of the episodes in which they spend the most leisure time together. They drive around Chima having a mostly fun time (except when they get stuck or crash). They often tease and flirt with each other about their bad driving and navigational skills.

It is shown that Laval is good friends with Eris when he asks for a tour of her home since no one really ever asks to go to the Eagle Spires. He later helps her defend her home by calling his Lion Tribe friends and fighting off Wolves while Eris saves Laval from falling to his death as well.

• In Balancing Act, Eris showed great concern for Laval when he was trying to retrieve a bag of CHI orbs that was in the Gorge of Eternal Depth. When the rope snapped, Eris was saddened when she feared that Laval was gone. However, Laval managed to escape the gorge with the CHI orbs and after Eris saw Laval that he was alright, she immediately hugged him passionately. Later, they battle the Wolves together, and then they go to a party with the Gorilla Tribe. Eris flirts with Laval and they start dancing and having a great time with the Gorillas.

In many of the later episodes, their friendship stays very strong where Eris comes to Laval's aid first whenever he needs help, like in Crocodile Tears and Chima Falls. Their friendship was possibly the strongest it ever was then since Eris begins to cry and hugs Laval when he is briefly exiled, when he comes back at the end, Eris is seen excitedly flying towards him tackling him in a hug only for both to be knocked to the ground laughing.

Laval and Eris' friendship is much the same as it was in the first season where they have a very strong bond and they are supportive of each other, although they interact a little less now that they are traveling with Gorzan, Cragger, Razar, Bladvic, Worriz, Rogon, Rinona and Lavertus.

• In "Fire Dreaming", Eris tells Laval how much she liked being with him before Cragger returned to being good again, the Legend Beasts being saved, and Mount Cavora being restored possibly meaning that she has a crush on Laval.
• In "The Crescent", while riding on their Speedorz, they share a loving glance after he roared for the other tribe members so that they can defend the crescent.
• In "Cool and Collected", Eris becomes annoyed on seeing Laval more interested in speaking with Li'Ella than helping her watch the Phoenix prince Flinx, which might also mean that she became jealous that Laval was spending time with Li’Ella than with her.

Worriz[]

Laval and Worriz were friends as children, but not best friends. They soon became enemies during the conflict over Chi. They never really became very good friends after that, but they have learned to work together for the sake of Chima.

They are seen playing hide-and-seek together when they were a little younger. However, Worriz shows that he has outgrown his friendship with Laval when he complains to Cragger about how boring Laval's "kiddie games" are. They are enemies throughout the rest of the season, and whereas Cragger occasionally becomes Laval's friend again, Worriz always stays vicious and mean. He even is reluctant to sign the treaty of peace and has to be forced to by this tribe mates. Eventually, he does become good again, but he and Laval have many differences and are not very good friends.

The two heroes go into the Outlands, but they rarely talk with each other. Worriz is seen sad, because his Legend Beast hasn't been found yet and Laval cheers him up a little, showing that he still wants to be friends with Worriz. Worriz and Laval work together for one of the first times in the Webisode "Game of Legends". By the end of this season they are completely back to being good friends like old times.
