The Artifact is the eleventh episode of the third season of Legends of Chima and the 37th episode overall.

Plot

Plot[]

The tribes of Chima are currently looking for Li'Ella, Eris checks out the wreckage of the Ice Fortress in the Grand Archway but comes up short, the Rhinos are searching in the forest and Razar and Razcal are in The Fangs but still nothing, at the Lion Temple, Laval is worried for Li'Ella and asks if no one has found her yet, Eglor says they searched everywhere but it appears the Ice Hunters disappeared underground with Li'Ella, however, Eris is doing one more search before coming back down. Just then, as Eris is flying while searching for Li'Ella, the Panther shows up again and attaches himself to the wings of her jet, she does a barrel roll and gets him off but that doesn't stop him as he suddenly appears again right beside her causing Eris to push a lever on her jet sending her crashing down below, Lennox and Leonidas are in the statue hall when Eris comes crashing in and stops just before the Throne Room, she apologizes for the mess and asks if they have seen Laval before flying off. In the Lion Market, Eris confides to Laval about her visions again but Laval assures her that she has full control over them and that he will be there when she needs it, Flinx also shows support as he wields his new Flikker weapon, Eris then asks what they are going to do and Laval says he needs to go underground first to find Li'Ella which would mean he needs Tormak's help since he is a Tunnel Cat. In the Crescent in the Phoenix Temple, Tormak is looking at the Artifact praying Li'Ella is out there somewhere, Fluminox walks in to comfort Tormak by saying they feel his pain, their odyssey together is a long one and says it was him who buoyed his sinking spirits, wrenching him from the precipice, Tormak says the sentiment is mutual. Fluminox then says; In ages past, there were eight Phoenix leaders, conducting the power of the Fire Wing harnesses, the Great Illumination, the land was healed, the Hunters vanquished, he was supposed to be the ninth Phoenix that day, but he failed them after attending to something more important to him, the others were then gone and without the ninth Phoenix, the Illumination was imperfect, the unintended side effects were profound, Mount Cavora, the CHI, the Gorge, the Hunters in Ice. But this moment atop the precipice, a moment of weakness and hesitation and duties forsaken, he says this had haunted him the most and that alone Tormak understood, he has always understood. Tormak says that Fluminox had his reasons for not joining the other eight Phoenix leaders, Fluminox says he still has that reason but also the regret too, Tormak says he would've done the same and tells him that protecting the ones they love is never cause for regret, Fluminox says he does trust Tormak, calling him his savior, his healer, and his friend.

The Ice Hunters have returned to the Gorge of Eternal Depth in The Fangs, Stealthor informs Fangar that they are working building a new Ice Fortress bigger and more powerful than the previous one so they can attack Mount Cavora without issue, Fangar is pleased by this news and says they must stop the Phoenix from hitting them with another Great Illumination, Stealthor says that will be a problem to which Fangar says it is the main problem, as a student of the Phoenix, he knows all their secrets, Stealthor tests him by asking their favorite color and Fangar says red, but reveals something far more important, he knows they need eight Fire Wing harnesses to launch a Great Illumination, Stealthor says they will find the harnesses, find them to where no one can find them and stop the Great Illumination from falling upon them once more, but the Artifact shows up and that gets added to the plan as well, but Fangar then says they have never let the Artifact leave the Phoenix Temple but this stumps Stealthor and Fangar says it's protected by walls, guards and the oppressive Phoenix heat, they can't even get close enough without it stopping them but this really stumps Stealthor but Fangar tells him not to worry as he doesn't expect for them to steal the Artifact, he has someone else in mind. Vardy then shows up and informs Fangar that his bride Li'Ella has arrived but she begs them to let her out, but Fangar calls her more than a bride, she is the key to the Fire Wing harnesses and all of Chima. Meanwhile, Tormak is searching the nearby lands in Chima for Li'Ella when Fangar appears high up on the cliff above him, Tormak then uses a Fire CHI orb to jump up to the cliff and starts chasing Fangar who taunts him, Tormak demands to know where Li'Ella is but Fangar says this chase won't bring him any closer to Li'Ella and he then pulls out her necklace which Tormak sees and charges at Fangar again as they climb up the cliff sides and onto the flat surfaces above, Tormak then asks Fangar what he wants and he says he wants a lot of things, the Phoenix child Flinx, control of Chima, a loving and supportive queen, Tormak screams no at the final thing but Fangar then tells him he needs one thing from him, the Artifact, Tormak is surprised and asks how he even knows about that but Fangar just rides off and Tormak follows, he then makes his offer again to Tormak, the Artifact for Li'Ella, but unless he does this, he will never see his daughter ever again and says the choice is his before Tormak charges at him again but Fangar gets away and back to the Ice Hunters, he tells Stealthor that from the sounds of Tormak's roars, the Artifact will be theirs in no time.

The wedding is to be hold atop the Spiral Mountain but Maula questions this decision as it's very in the open and someone could see them, but Vardy says they didn't want the wedding in a dark cave so they came up here, then Mottrot comments on the cake and asks why the bride has a scowl on her face but Vardy says that is because that is how she looks, Li'Ella then commands again to let her go, but they refuse, Maula is still not sure about having the wedding on the mountain but Vardy asks her if she planned the wedding to which she didn't, Vardy then has VoomVoom and Vornon place some Ice plants onto the table but Vornon's explode the second they touch the table sending Vornon flying back saying this is what it's like to cry at weddings he thinks. Just then, Razar in his Raider, sees that the Hunters have placed the location of the wedding on the Spiral Mountain and notes how interesting that is and so he flies back to the other tribes to tell them about this. Meanwhile at the Phoenix Temple, Lundor thanks Tormak for guarding the place with him but Tormak is looking at Li'Ella's Roarburn axe and starts flashing back to when he first rescued her after her village was burnt down, raising her as one of her own, playing together and meeting Fluminox for the very first time, Lundor then sees Tormak is crying but he says he isn't crying, just smelling Li'Ella's scent and asks to be excused to which Lundor lets him and says he'd do anything for his boss. Tormak heads to the room where the Artifact is and contemplates whether or not to steal it and goes outside to alert Fangar that he has made his decision which Stealthor sees, he heads back to the Artifact after seeing Fluminox walk by and after some thinking, he decides to go through will stealing the Artifact, he gets past Tazar and Trakkar first and makes it outside and deals with two more guards and Lundor telling them to sleep well and to not blame themselves for this but rather blame him, he then makes his way down the Crescent and stops at the line separating him and Fangar, he then sees what appears to be Li'Ella in the Mammoth mech and demands to let her go first before giving Fangar the Artifact, but Fangar says he wants Tormak to give him the Artifact first, but Tormak says he always keeps his word, Fangar believes that but also says he wants to make sure that because he is a Tunnel Cat, that he doesn't use this as an opportunity to attack him and the Hunters.

Tormak then decides not to give the Artifact to Fangar knowing he is lying, but after the Ice Hunters start to leave and Tormak pulls out the drawing Li'Ella made for him, he ultimately decides to give up the Artifact, but Fluminox still inside the Phoenix Temple, sees the Artifact is gone and runs outside to see Tormak with it and warns him not to give the Artifact to Fangar, Tormak argues it's for Li'Ella but Fluminox says that the Artifact will protect itself and warns Tormak to not take it beyond Phoenix territory and stop before it is too late, but Tormak refuses still saying it's for Li'Ella and that he is sorry, but just as he is about to cross over to where Fangar is, the Artifact explodes sending a burst of heat across the area sending the Hunters back and chars Tormak's appearance turning him into a Panther, after seeing the drawing of him and Li'Ella burn away and seeing his new appearance, Tormak runs away ashamed of what he has done with Fluminox looking out at him asking his old friend how he could do this. Laval and Eris are heading to the Phoenix Temple when they see Tormak's transformation from afar and Tormak runs past them, Laval then asks Eris if she saw that to which Eris says she has, multiple times in her visions, Laval says this was no vision and was real, but this frightens Eris because if her vision of the Panther came true then the rest of her vision will come true as well and Laval says they need to follow him. Tormak finds where Li'Ella was taken but he then realizes she was never there instead it was Strainor wearing a cloak and tells him who he is and that he is there for Li'Ella, Laval and Eris overhear this and learn that the Panther knows Li'Ella, but before he can even talk to Laval and Eris, the Flying Temple arrives to chase Tormak back, Frax says it's blazin' time but Fluminox says there is no firing tonight and tells him, Foltrax and Firox to apprehend Tormak so he can be held accountable for his crime of stealing and destroying the Artifact, Foltrax says it really is blazin' time with Firox and Frax joining in. Tormak is still running away but he then asks "Li'Ella, what have I done?" as the Flying Temple continues to chase him down.
