Chi

Chi is a powerful natural resource created from Illumination energy and Source Energy.[2] It flows through the Sacred Waters of the floating island of Chima in the Wyldness, coming from Mount Cavora's waterfalls itself in a liquid form, and when it arrives in the Lion Temple's Sacred Pool, the minerals in said pool convert it into orbs giving life and energy to much of the kingdom. Many beings across the Realms benefit from using Chi, although they do not call it by the same name.[3]

Fire Chi[]

Fire Chi is a unique type of Chi that existed before regular Chi. It was created by the Phoenix, and grants its users access to Fire powers.

Golden Chi[]

Golden Chi is a rare and powerful variant of normal Chi. They are produced monthly from the Chi supply, and possesses the ability to reshape the landscape and create structures or environmental features. Golden Chi traditionally serves as the prize for the monthly Speedorz competition held at the Grand Arena.

Chigull[]

Chigull is an artificial imitation of ordinary Chi. It could provide powers similar to normal Chi, but it had an unusual side effect that caused its users to behave like birds once the effects wears off, lasting for days.

  • The inclusion of the Chi crystal in 71819 Dragon Stone Shrine was a personal choice of Chi Wing Lee, the set's designer, and it neither confirms nor denies the correlation between Lord Ras and Chima.[4]
    • The connection between Ras and Chima was confirmed in "The Blood Moon," where it is explained that Chima is a land in the realm of the Wyldness: Ras' homeland.
  • Chi causes animals to rapidly evolve into humanoid beings. It's unknown if Mount Cavora's waterfalls are the only source of it. It's also unknown if Chi is the reason for the existence of various other anthropomorphic races in the Wyldness.
  • Tommy Andreasen once wrote a crossover short based on Ninjago and Legends of Chima, but it was never produced.[5] When asked about the short's plot, he added that there was Spinjitzu vs. Chi[6] and also Chi-powered Spinjitzu.[7]
  • According to Tommy Andreasen, the Serpentine could also use Chi to power up themselves.[8]
    • In addition, Pythor has a blue orb attached to his chest which looks like Chi.[9]
  • 71789 Kai and Ras's Car and Bike Battle and 892403 Jay also include a LEGO Chi piece but they don't represent Chi itself.
  • According to Chris "Doc" Wyatt:
    • Chi is used in various ways and under different names across the Merged Realms. He also teased that the source of Chi may be explored in the future.[3]
    • There is a special connection between Source Energy and Golden Chi.[10]
    • When asked about theories like whether Chima was lifted to the sky for protection from the Forbidden Five during their attack on the Wyldness or if the Forbidden Five overused Chi and became corrupted, he indicated that the truth is in one of those two. However, he chose not to clarify which theory he meant.[11]
    • When asked about Ras' affiliation with Chi, he stated that Ras knows about the Chi from Chima, but when asked if he knows about the power it can give him, he stated "It's complicated. Hold on to this question for two years, then ask again".[12]
    • He believes the Source Dragon of Life was the lightning that struck Mount Cavora (which is the Lion Tribe's interpretation of the Great Illumination) and Chi is more or less derived from Life.[2]
    • Chi is a "cousin" to Cragling mud,[13] as both maintain a connection to dragon energy.[14]
  • It is unknown if the Source Dragon of Strength, Life and Focus leaving the Council of Sources had any effects on Chi like it had on the Elemental Powers.
  • Chi is possibly based on or inspired by the real-world concept of "chi" or "qi" (氣/气), which in traditional Chinese philosophy, culture, and medicine, is a life force that is believed to reside in all living entities.
