Laval is the prince of the Lion Tribe, the son of Lagravis, an accomplished Speedor racer, and the leader of the Heroes of Chima. He is best friends with Cragger.

Laval has beige fur on his arms, torso, and legs, which are also detailed with black claws. His hands are also white. His face is beige, and he has a white muzzle. His nose is black, as well as his mouth, and his eyes are yellow.

In Season 1, Laval wears a sleeveless, blue tunic. He wears a golden harness over his chest with a blue CHI orb in the center. Over his waist is a blue belt fastened by a buckle with a lion head. He wears a kilt on his legs which extends about halfway downwards.

A piece of golden armour which covers much of his chest and points over the shoulders is placed below his neck. A shallow part with a stud holds a transparent light blue disk-plate to represent a CHI orb. Over the armour, a blue cape is placed and, because of the armour's shoulder blades, rises and expands at a higher area than usual, but also does not end up reaching as low.

Laval's head uses an extension piece with a cat-like head fitted over a standard mini-figure one. The extension features an extended snout with the muzzle coloured white and the nose black. An open-mouthed smirk is printed under the nose. Laval has golden, cat-eyes which are surrounded by white show through holes in the head. Around Laval's face is a crown which spikes up in the top. It separates the rest of his head from a spiky, dark red mane pointed backwards.

Laval is the young prince of the Lion Tribe in Legends of Chima, a character who combines the nobility of his lineage with the boundless energy of an adventurer. He has a curious spirit and a brave heart, always ready to leap into action without a second thought. His nature is playful and joking; he enjoys speedor races, impromptu adventures, and pranks with his friends, which often gets him into trouble with his father, King Lagravis, who would like to see him more focused on his royal duties. Laval wants to be respected as a leader and prove himself a worthy heir to the throne, but his impulsiveness and love of fun can make him seem immature. Even so, he possesses a natural charisma that inspires confidence and unites tribes that would normally be at odds. Deeply loyal, he passionately defends his friends, even when it means risking his life or defying orders. His relationship with Cragger, marked by friendship, betrayal, and reconciliation, forces him to mature and understand the value of forgiveness. With Eris, he finds support and advice; with Li'Ella, he shows his more tender and protective side. Throughout the story, Laval transforms from an enthusiastic and carefree prince into a wiser leader, who understands that true power lies not in strength or speed alone, but in the ability to unite, protect, and guide all the peoples of Chima.

Laval's Beginnings[]

Laval is the headstrong prince of the Lion Tribe who still has a lot to learn about what it means to be a leader. He may want others to see him as a powerful and responsible adult, but he's still a big kid at heart. Duty doesn't always take priority over having a good time. But what's the harm in pulling a little prank every so often? Like a lot of kids, he has an insatiable curiosity and a relentless flair for challenging the rules. This can be a problem since the Lions are all about following and challenging the rules. Can Laval figure this out and become the great warrior and leader his tribe expects of him?

After The Battles for CHI[]

The prince of the Lion Tribe, Laval was once very headstrong and more interested in having a good time than anything else. But the battles over CHI have helped him to grow up a little bit. While he still loves nothing more than a new adventure or a chance to have fun, he also understands more about the duties and responsibilities of a prince. He showed that by his willingness to put the past aside and ally with Cragger against a common threat. As the leader of a new, united team of heroes, the fate of Chima rests on his shoulders.

Brave, loyal, fun-loving and heroic, Laval is the young prince of the proud Lion Tribe. He is eager to prove his worth as a leader, but anxious about the responsibility. Mischievous Laval would rather be playing jokes on his friends and seeking adventure at every turn. Even though he has caused much trouble in the land of Chima, he always seeks to make things right.

Laval loves riding his Speedor more than any other vehicle. He is king of the Market Day Speedor track!

As prince of the Lions, Laval must keep peace among the tribes and help protect Chima's sacred CHI. Thankfully he has a great role model in his father Lagravis.

  • Laval makes a brief cameo in "Curseworld, Part II" when Lloyd and Morro emerge from portal and into Chima. Laval asks them where they came from before Morro leaves with Lloyd with the Realm Crystal.
    • The footage of Laval in this episode is edited footage taken from "Ravens vs Eagles," with Morro and Lloyd taking Razar and Eris' place.[1]
  • Laval's name is a palindrome.
  • Laval is ironically the cause of two major events in Chima. The first occurred when he threw the Crocodile Tribe's Chi into the Gorge of Eternal Depth, which caused the creation of the Crawlers. The second occurred later when he gave Scorm a Chi orb, which resulted in Scorm throwing Chi down a crevasse inhabited by the Ice Hunters, who the CHI caused to wake up.
    • Technically, it was Cragger who caused the first incident by giving Laval the Chi of the Crocodile Tribe, so he could frame Laval for taking their Chi, but this can be disputed.
    • Secondly, he would have never given Scorm the CHI, had he known it would awaken the Hunters. Technically, Scorm should have been to blame for this incident.
  • His name is pronounced, "Luh-val". His name has French roots. However, he shares his name with a city in Quebec, pronounced, "Le-vul".
  • Laval's character design resembles Lion-O, from the Thundercats franchise.
  • He is the only lion to have a red mane.
  • He, Bladvic, Gorzan, Worriz, and Rogon are the only mammals of the Heroes of Chima.
