After meeting King Vangelis, the Ninja begin to walk around the streets of Shintaro, discussing their experiences with the mountain kingdom so far. As they walk, Hailmar greets them and informs the Ninja that the repairs on Destiny's Bounty had been completed. As the Ninja begin to follow him to see the repairs, Vania ran up to Cole and declared she would like to accompany the ninja to "hear more of Cole's amazing adventures."

As the group follows Hailmar through the city, he shows them the various amenities offered throughout Shintaro, including musicians who played calming music and teahouses on every corner. Lloyd seemed more cautious about these offerings, noting that everyone in Shintaro must be earning large incomes to sustain such lavish lifestyles. In response to Lloyd's concerns, Vania revealed that all of these amenities offered throughout the city were completely free, as their kingdom valued its culture above economics.

After some time, the Ninja finally arrived at the docking bay where the Destiny's Bounty was berthed, marveling at the fine craftsman ship of the locals; the ship looked almost brand new! Following Hailmar's urging, the Ninja then decided to take their ship for a test flight. As they now soared through the air, Jay and Lloyd marveled at the gleaming white city, commenting that it looked even more beautiful when seen from above. When Hailmar added that apartments and housing in the city were entirely free as well, Cole began to question the sustainability of such a lifestyle, arguing that no city could be completely perfect, pointing to the Dire Bats as an example of one of Shintaro's black spots. In response, Hailmar conceded that the Dire Bats were an occasional nuisance, but he and the Army of Shintaro were well experienced in dealing with them. In fact, they even developed special horns to lure out the Dire Bats for training purposes, which he then proceeded to demonstrate.

Smiling slyly, Jay then took the horn, remarking he had a score to settle with the bats for their prior attack on Destiny's Bounty. When Jay failed to summon any bats by blowing the horn, he placed it into one of the Bounty's pipes, producing a massive blast of sound, much to Hailmar's horror. Seconds later, the skies themselves darkened as the sun became blotted out by a massive horde of Dire Bats, all heading towards the Bounty. In spite of the size of the horde that they now faced, Hailmar still believed that with the assistance of the ninja, they could prevail against the creatures. He then handed out pairs of Shintaro wings to each of the ninja, explaining that the wings mirrored the wearer's movements; during Jay's initial testing of the wings, he smacked both Cole and Vania in the face with them.

A few moments later, the Ninja took to the skies with their wings and began to assist the Winged Guards in defeating the horde of Dire Bats. Although the wings took a bit longer than expected to adjust to, the Ninja soon got a hang of them, and when combined with their Elemental Powers, they made quick work of the giant bats. Eventually though, Wu recalled the Ninja to the Bounty, fearing that they were becoming too overconfident, leaving the remaining Bats to the Winged Guards. As they landed, Vania rushed to Cole's side and leaned close to him, exclaiming that it was awesome to see the Ninja in action and she was excited to see what else they could do. Watching this, Jay remarked to the others that it seemed they wouldn't be bored in Shintaro any time soon!
