Jay Walker[1] is the Lightning Ninja and one of six ninja in the Secret Ninja Force. They are trained by Master Wu. He drove the Lightning Jet.
History
History[]
Background[]
Jay grew up in a junkyard with his adoptive parents, Ed and Edna.[1][2]
The LEGO Ninjago Movie[]
Jay and Cole stood by the lockers in their high school as they waited for their friends to arrive. Once everyone had gathered together, Nya began to show off the new paintjob on her bike, emphasizing that it was special because she did it herself. Enamored, Jay tried to compliment Nya, hesitantly asking if she got her bike at the "great stuff store," though his feeble compliment seemingly went unnoticed. Following Chad and his cohorts' arrival, Jay and the rest of his friends went to their Social Studies class, where Jay sat next to Nya.
When news of Garmadon's latest attack on Ninjago City reached the school, Jay and his friends all simultaneously asked for a bathroom pass as they raced for their lockers. In reality, Jay and the others were the Secret Ninja Force, the protectors of Ninjago City. Upon arriving at the warehouse where they stored their mechs, Jay suited up and climbed into his Lightning Jet, prematurely declaring that he was ready as he stumbled to sit upright in the jet's cockpit. Once all six ninja were ready, Lloyd ordered Jay to patrol the skies and he affirmed by remarking that they were unstoppable as long as they had their mechs. Not long after saying that however, Jay's jet became surrounded on all sides by Manta Ray Bombers, freaking out the blue ninja who began taking evasive maneuvers while waiting for his jet's super sonic weapon to charge. As the gunners of the bombers fired crabs at Jay's cockpit, inflicting minimal to zero damage, Jay began panic pressing the deployment button for his super sonic weapon, releasing a massive wave of electricity that destroyed all of the surrounding bombers and one crab themed vehicle on the ground.
Following their victory over Garmadon's forces, Jay attempted to comfort and speak with Lloyd about the latter's earlier outburst towards Garmadon. During their exchange, Jay mentioned that he had no difficulty fighting Garmadon as the would be conqueror was not his father, but he acknowledged how for Lloyd that might present a different set of complications. When Nya added that no one's parents were perfect, Jay chimed in with a poorly thought out comparison, stating that his mother was weird because she collected seashells while Lloyd's father attacks Ninjago City and innocent people on a semi-regular basis. He realized his mistake in bringing this up however and closed out by sheepishly moving on to his point that all parent had their unique quirks as people. After Wu returned and the ninja discussed their efforts in defeating Garmadon, Jay seemed the most dismissive of their master, remarking that he couldn't understand a word he was saying as well as questioning Wu's demands to practice spinjitzu for three hours as being a ludicrous request.
The next day, Garmadon attacked Ninjago City once more. Just like yesterday, Jay was assigned to patrol the skies. Aware of their leader's fragile emotional state, Jay offered to be the one to fight Garmadon this time instead of Lloyd, but was rebuffed. As the battle progressed, Jay was able to keep a careful eye on the team's green leader from his vantage point in the skies. As he fought to protect a monorail from the Shark Army, Jay watched with alarm as Garmadon defeated Lloyd and his Green Ninja Mech Dragon. In shock at this turn of events, Jay hastily relayed Lloyd's fall to the rest of his comrades but was unable to do engage Garmadon, being occupied with protecting the falling monorail. Later, Jay would fall victim to Lloyd's reckless usage of the Ultimate Weapon and his jet would be destroyed by Meowthra leaping from the roof of a skyscraper. Fortunately, Jay managed to evacuate the devastating attack in time but the experience left him both scarred and intensely bitter at his team's leader to the point that he spoke on behalf of the rest of the team, stating to Lloyd's face that they all hated him now.
After Wu announced that he would journey to the Temple of Fragile Foundations to retrieve the Ultimate Ultimate Weapon alone, Jay was the only member of the Secret Ninja Force who did not seem to have a problem with Wu's decision, having found the mere thought of journeying to such a place to be terrifying. While the others begged Wu to bring them along, Jay did everything in his power to keep himself out of going, attempting to hold back Lloyd from speaking and placing the blame for Meowthra's arrival solely on Lloyd's shoulders, suggesting that Lloyd should solely accompany Wu to the Temple of Fragile Foundations to atone for his deeds. Nevertheless, Jay was also the only member of the team to avoid answering when Wu asked if they were willing to give Lloyd a second chance while the rest all answered in the negative. With the rest of his friends having decided to accompany their master, Jay reluctantly embarked on the journey to the Temple of Fragile Foundations as well. At some point during the journey, Jay was startled by a large bee but was oblivious to the presence of several large spiders crawling down his back.
After arriving in the Jungle of Lost Souls, Jay participated in one of Wu's lessons but was ordered to hide after the master ended the lesson prematurely, having sensed the presence of his evil brother nearby. After receiving the order, Jay immediately began freaking out and opted to lie down on his side behind some slightly longer than average blades of grass, believing it to be sufficient coverage, later exclaiming his belief that he and the others were totally blending in. After Wu's fall from the Bridge of Fallen Mentors, Jay continued to make pessimistic and negative remarks about his fallen master, in particular criticizing Wu's choices of imparting wisdom late in their adventures. Nevertheless, he assisted in carrying Garmadon's cage as the Secret Ninja Force continued their journey to the Temple of Fragile Foundation, specifically holding the left front. As the group walked, Jay was an active participant in asking questions to Garmadon, even going as far as to tell Lloyd that when the latter spoke, he didn't want to listen, but when the former did, he felt compelled to listen. Upon reaching the Canyon of General Unhappiness, Jay was quick to brand it his new least favorite place ever just as the Secret Ninja Force were attacked by the Fired Generals. As the ninja fought against their enemies, Jay moaned that they were worthless without their mechs and consistently insisted that retreat was their best course of action. In the end, the ninja were overwhelmed by the former generals and Lloyd and Garmadon were taken to parts unknown.
After their battle with the Fired Generals, Jay ran screaming through the undergrowth of the jungle before tripping and falling face first onto the ground. When Nya made her presence known however, Jay attempted to project more of a confident air, though Nya ignored him. Once the rest of the Secret Ninja Force regrouped, Nya was quick to point out that Lloyd and his father were missing, causing Jay to shamefully admit that they had all been terrible friends to him. When the group discovered the Fired Generals' lair as they searched for their missing friend, Jay suggested that instead of rushing in to save Lloyd, they ought to instead make camp and call it a night, an idea that was immediately met by ridicule from Kai. Jay would change his tune however after reviewing Zane's Martial Arts Movie Club and participated in infiltrating the lair of the Fired Generals, rubbing his hand against his scarf to generate enough static electricity to shock one general who wore an octopus helmet. Jay then knocked out another octopus helmet wearing general and stole his armor for his disguise. After rescuing Lloyd and his father, Jay helped to construct a helicopter for himself and his allies to escape in as they continued their journey to the Temple of Fragile Foundations.
Upon arriving at the Temple of Fragile Foundations, Jay immediately branded it as his new least favorite place ever, more so than the Canyon of General Unhappiness - a sentiment that he shared with Garmadon who remarked in response that he had to move into his volcano lair just to feel safe after spending his childhood here. Upon reaching the temple's gates, Jay cowered behind Zane while Garmadon spoke briefly about the Temple and unlocked the door. Seconds upon entering, Jay discovered a light switch and flicked it on before asking if the Temple had a bathroom he could use - a request Garmadon denied. Jay later helped search for the Ultimate Ultimate Weapon, discovering a golden chest tucked away in one of the bedrooms, which opened up to reveal...a bunch of pieces. Disappointed but still remaining hopeful, Jay suggested that the Ultimate Ultimate Weapon could have been under the pieces, though after the chest's contents were spilled, revealing nothing else, Jay dropped any pretenses and flat out said that this was the "Ultimate ultimate disappointment." His opinion though slightly improved after Lloyd realized that the pieces each represented one of each individual ninja's elemental powers and he helped to keep it away from Garmadon after the conqueror betrayed them and sought to use them for himself.
With the Temple of Fragile Foundations collapsing as a result of Garmadon's hasty departure damaging the unstable mountainside, Jay took shelter behind a table with Nya, being hugged by her as they braced for their final moments. Fortunately however, Lloyd realized that all of them already possessed their elemental powers, and they didn't need the Ultimate Ultimate Weapon, but rather had to achieve inner peace in order to access them. Thanks to Lloyd's coaching, Jay unlocked his innate powers of lightning and blasted open the temple's doors, allowing the ninja to escape. After returning to Ninjago City, Jay used his newfound powers to clear the sky of Manta Ray Bombers. Later, he and the rest of the Secret Ninja Force stood in formation and watched while Lloyd approached Meowthra alone and saved Garmadon.
Appearance
Appearance[]
Jay's appearance is relatively different from his tv show counterpart's original design. He has a ninja gi that is mostly dark blue and has freckles that fit his shy personality. He also has big bushy dark brown hair, unlike his show counterpart, who had more of auburn hair. His hair is quite long when wet.
Personality
Personality[]
Jay is relatively shy and insecure, rarely speaking unless a situation arises, opposed to his in-show counterpart who rarely stops talking. Jay is always sarcastic and balances a new personality with his TV show counterpart. Coming from a close family, Jay attempts to console his friend but fails, possibly making the latter feel worse. He possesses a crush on Nya, although their relationship is weaker than in the TV series as Nya is completely oblivious to Jay's feelings for her and he is always interrupted when he tries to reveal them. He is the worrier of the group and seems to like social media.

Jay: Master of Electricity[]
This ninja is a real live wire who zaps his opponents with lightning bolts. Jay comes from a close family so he understands how hard it is for Lloyd to be at odds with his dad. He can be nervous and a little overly cautious, but Jay always comes through on the battlefield. If only things were as easy with his big crush, Nya. Every time he works up the nerve to tell her how he feels, he gets interrupted.[3]
Meet Jay Walker[]
Growing up in a scrapyard with his parents on the outskirts of NINJAGO, Jay never dreamed he would one day become the blue ninja. A true master of lightning and questionable fashion choices.[1]
Weapons and Abilities
Weapons and Abilities[]
Jay uses a flail in the trailers and LEGO sets, but he may be skillful with many other weapons, though this is his favorite weapon. However, he is not seen using it in the film.
He and the other Ninja have Elemental Powers like their TV show counterparts, allowing him to create and manipulate Lightning. Jay's blue Lightning Mech has does have lightning features as well. As it soars through the sky, it can charge and lightning flies off all the long gray poles coming off from the sides of the mech. That fighting technique is extremely effective and causes damage to the surrounding forces.
