The LEGO Ninjago Movie[]

Zane met up with Lloyd outside of their high school. As the friends began entering the building, Zane briefly talked about his mother and how she was on his case recently, though Zane told her to lay off of him as he was just a teenager. The two then ran into their friend Kai, who offered Lloyd a birthday hug. Seeing his friends' joyous reactions to Kai's gesture, Zane insisted on getting in on it and began squeezing extremely hard while promising to increase the pressure despite Lloyd's protests. After meeting up with the rest of their friends: Nya, Cole, and Jay, the six of them made their way to Social Studies class.

After the news reached the school of the latest attack by Garmadon, Zane and the rest of his friends simultaneously asked for a bathroom pass as they raced for their lockers. In reality, the six of them were actually the Secret Ninja Force, the protectors of Ninjago City. Upon arriving at the warehouse where they stored their gear, Zane plugged himself into his Ice Tank before announcing that he was ready. Once all were suited up and ready, Zane, Cole, and Kai were ordered to head downtown where he and his comrades began laying waste to Garmadon's forces, with Zane using his tank's freeze ray and ice shooters to create an ice ramp while literally freezing his adversaries in place. As they fought against the Shark Army, Zane offhandedly mentioned that if the ninja were the Beatles, he would be their computer.

Following their victory over Garmadon's forces, while the other ninja expressed sympathy and solidarity with Lloyd for his earlier emotional outburst towards Garmadon, Zane only contributed to the conversation by giving blunt, matter of fact responses to Lloyd's questions. Shortly afterwards, the Secret Ninja Force caught sight of Destiny's Bounty mooring in the harbor, signaling the return of MasterWu. During the ensuing conversation, Wu revealed that Zane possessed the elemental power of ice before ordering him and the others to begin practicing spinjitzu for three hours.

The next day, Garmadon attacked Ninjago City once more and Zane was again ordered to cover downtown alongside Cole and Kai. When the ninja prepared for battle, Kai and Nya expressed confusion over Lloyd's sudden speaking in abbreviations, to which Zane interjected by blunting stating that Lloyd seemed nervous about the coming battle, even replying immediately that Lloyd was incorrect when he tried to deny Zane's assertions. After Lloyd unwittingly summoned Meowthra after using the Ultimate Weapon in a bid to defeat Garmadon, the conqueror seized control over the weapon and used it to direct the giant cat into destroying Zane's Ice Tank. Following their defeat, Zane deleted any and all data from that related to treating Lloyd as a friend. Afterwards, Zane accompanied Wu and the others on a journey to the Temple of Fragile Foundations to search for the Ultimate Ultimate Weapon.

After journeying to the Jungle of Lost Souls, Zane participated in one of Wu's lessons but was ordered to hide after Wu ended the lesson prematurely, having sensed the presence of his evil brother nearby. To hide, Zane sat down and held a pair of leaves in front of his face and most of his body. When Wu fell from the Bridge of Fallen Mentors, Zane was seen reaching a hand out towards his fallen master with a look of shock on his face. Afterwards, he and the rest of the Secret Ninja Force carried on their journey to the Temple of Fragile Foundations, taking the caged Garmadon with them to serve as their guide. As they walked, Zane stayed behind everyone else to guard their rear from any potential signs of danger and did not partake in asking Garmadon any questions beyond affirming the fact that Garmadon had four arms and snakes have no arms. Despite not asking any questions himself, Zane listened intently to the ongoing conversation and was seemingly impressed by Garmadon's ability to shake hands with himself. Eventually, Zane pointed out a fork in the road and the group decided to take the shortcut, arriving not long after in the Canyon of General Unhappiness where they were attacked by the Fired Generals. Despite fighting valiantly against the seemingly endless hordes of vengeance seeking generals, Zane was the first of the Secret Ninja Force to be overwhelmed and defeated.

After their battle with the Fired Generals, Zane traversed through the jungle in search of his allies while making various sounds and noises. Once he regrouped with Jay and Nya, Zane confessed that he may have discovered that he was an adrenaline junkie. After realizing that Lloyd and his father were captured by the Fired Generals, the Secret Ninja Force decided to infiltrate the Fired Generals' lair and save their companions. In order to do so, they first had to watch a speed run of all 700 gigabytes of Zane's Martial Arts Movie Club, of which only after viewing it, were they ready to take on the Fired Generals. During their infiltration, Zane attacked and defeated Jolly before stealing his helmet for his disguise. After saving their allies, Garmadon ordered the Secret Ninja Force to begin building a method for them to escape while he and his son would toss them the parts needed to build. When Lloyd demonstrated his inability to throw, due to never having had a father-son bonding moment growing up, Zane bluntly stated that Lloyd's throwing was terrible. Nevertheless, the Secret Ninja Force were able to construct a functioning helicopter, which they then used to escape from the Fired Generals and continue their journey to the Temple of Fragile Foundations.

After arriving at the Temple of Fragile Foundations, Zane was the fifth to reach the front door and curiously examined the interior of the temple before being directed to a wall filled with photographs. At some point during Garmadon's story about his love life and how he met Lady Iron Dragon, Zane left to search for the Ultimate Ultimate Weapon, returning back to the photograph wall after discovering its location in one of the bedrooms. Zane then watched alongside his allies as the chest was opened, revealing the Ultimate Ultimate Weapon consisted of six parts that represented each of the six ninja's elements. After Garmadon betrayed the group and attempted to steal the chest containing the Ultimate Ultimate Weapon, Zane flanked Garmadon on his right while Cole flanked him from the left, but both were quickly punched aside by the conqueror. During the chaotic toss around for the chest, Zane pleasantly likened the ninja to the Harlem Globe Trotters but in the same vein also coldly commented that Lloyd's failure to catch was "predictable, yet regrettable."

With the Temple of Fragile Foundations collapsing as a result of Garmadon's hasty departure damaging the unstable mountainside, Zane took shelter behind a table alongside Kai and Cole while calculating their odds of survival. Fortunately however, Lloyd realized that all of them already possessed their elemental powers, and they didn't need the Ultimate Ultimate Weapon, but rather had to achieve inner peace in order to access them. Thanks to Lloyd's coaching, Jay blasted open the doors to the temple, allowing the ninja to escape. Zane then combined his powers over ice with Nya's powers over water to create an ice bridge across the damaged staircase. After escaping onboard Destiny's Bounty and reuniting with Wu, who had faked his death, Zane commented that Lloyd had decoded Wu's unnecessarily cryptic metaphors.

After returning to Ninjago City, Zane was instructed by Lloyd to erect a massive ice wall as the Secret Ninja Force made their way to stop Garmadon and Meowthra. The wall of ice was then melted by Kai to create a misty veil that concealed the ninja long enough to traverse through a portion of the Shark Army controlled city. Later, he and the rest of the Secret Ninja Force stood in formation and watched while Lloyd approached Meowthra alone and saved Garmadon.

Appearance

Appearance[]

Zane has a white ninja gi, with a different design from the other ninja. His eyes are bright blue, due to being a Nindroid as in the TV show. His hair is white and stands up straight in something like a crew cut, and he seems to be very happy and/or energetic. It has also been presented that he has wheels at the bottom of his feet.

His body can actually come apart, as seen when he gets into his ice tank. His face seems to be digital, which could be how the loading screen appeared on his face when getting into the ice tank as well.

Personality

Personality[]

Zane seems to be quite happy, sometimes even in serious circumstances. Zane also seems to always try to act like a normal teenager by acting very stereotypically and using filler words. He also is quite frank with his opinions, often not understanding that there are times to be polite.

He tries his best to be a normal teenager and quickly corrects his friends or the news reporters when they label him as a droid. He is actually quite serious at times but is a skilled ninja that supports his friends—even when they all agree to not be Lloyd's friends anymore.

Weapons and Abilities

Weapons and Abilities[]

Zane uses a bow and arrow in the trailers, but there is a good chance he is skilled at most of the weapons, though this is his favorite.

He and the other Ninja have Elemental Powers like their TV show counterparts, allowing him to freeze objects and create ice. His "Ice Tank" has ice offensive abilities.

Unlike Lloyd, the leader of the Secret Ninja Force and the Green Ninja, Zane is not a Master Builder.

When he gets in the Ice Tank, he becomes physically connected to it.

Zane: Master of Ice[]

Part boy, part Nindroid, this ninja is super cool. Freon literally cools his fuel cells and he shoots down his opponents with an icy blast. Logical and methodical, Zane is guided by his programming and sensors – but don’t call him a robot! Zane is quick to remind everyone that he’s just a normal teenager, even if he doesn’t fully grasp sarcasm and some of his pop culture references are frozen in time.[1]

Meet Zane[]

When he's not fighting evil as the ice ninja Zane needs to attend school like the rest of us. He's been running the numbers and believes "We have a 87.6666 (repeating of course) chance of losing this fight against Garmadon."[2]

Appearances
Trivia

Trivia[]

  • His main weapon is a bow and arrow instead of shurikens as he does in the TV series.
    • It is unknown why they were shown with weapons in the commercials. They only used their elemental abilities and their mechs to fight, not once touching their signature weapons.
    • In Season 8, his TV series counterpart uses a bow, as the ninja adopted elements from the movie after the film's release.
  • He is the only Ninja with no black coloring on his hood. Instead, he is fully white.
  • His Ice tank has elemental additions onto it, seen in the Ice Tank LEGO set commercial.
  • His first time speaking in promotional material was in "American Ninja Warrior" stating "That was terrible," to Jay.
  • Zane has a slightly robotic tone to his voice in the final version of the film.
  • Zane stated he has a mother. It is unknown if this is true or just a common complaint that a normal teenager would say.
  • Unlike his TV counterpart, he speaks with conjunctions and slang words. In the Swedish dub version, Zane was voiced by Ole Ornered who voiced many characters in the real show, such as Cyrus Borg (from Season 3-6), Zugu, General Fangtom and King Trimaar.
