Plot

Plot[]

While enjoying bowls of noodles, Wyldfyre questioned the details of Kai's story, recapping that after Daidan was taken, he went after her atop a mountain with the stranger he had just met. Wyldfyre then questioned Kai why he would go to such lengths if it was obviously a trap! In response, Kai explained that Daidan had saved his life in the past and so he owed it to her, but also insisted that signs did not point to an obvious trap at the time. Kai then continued his story.

After Daidan was taken away by the Jungle insects, Kai and Bolsen scaled the mountain she was taken to in an effort to rescue their dragon friend. As they climbed, Kai asked Bolsen why he was willing to risk his life for individuals he only just met. Bolsen explained that being stranded in the Land of Monsters can change a person, and that he sought to do what was right in order to remind himself of who he was.

Upon entering a cave in the side of the mountain, Kai and Bolsen discovered Daidan writhing in pain as her energy was drained by the Queen of Monsters. Before Kai could react, Fuzz greeted the Queen as "Mama," and that he found her a tasty one, in reference to Kai. Angered by the realization, Kai hurled Fuzz off his back and attempted to strike at the Queen. Unfortunately, Kai's blow would be stopped by Bolsen, who then revealed his own monstrous mutations as he repeated his earlier statement of how the Land of Monsters could change a person. Now under the Queen's enthrall, Bolsen was commanded to destroy Kai. Fuzz then leapt back onto Kai's back and shared his power with the Fire Ninja once more, declaring that Kai would serve as his puppet and not the Queen's! With a power-up from Fuzz, Kai and Bolsen clashed.

In the present day, Wyldfyre interrupted Kai's dramatic storytelling to ask for clarification. Specifically, she wanted to be sure that she heard it right that Fuzz betrayed Kai, then Bolsen betrayed Kai, and now Fuzz betrayed the Queen?! Annoyed by his student's interruption, Kai sternly stated that he was going to finish his story first.

Returning to the story, Kai and Bolsen clashed, though Kai was able to steadily gain the upper hand and ultimately defeated his opponent. Impressed with Kai's tenacity, the Queen of Monsters agreed with Fuzz that Kai could serve as their new champion and that she would replace Bolsen with him instead. At this moment, Kai was able to snap out of his enthrallment and hurled Fuzz off from his back once more. Although he was unable to land a blow on the powerful Queen, Kai was saved from her counterattack by none other than Bolsen himself, who had too thrown off the Queen's enthrallment. Bolsen then shouted to Kai that the Queen's underbelly was her weak spot and that he would distract her by attacking her head so that Kai could deal the killing blow. Bolsen's plan worked like a charm, and in mere moments, the Queen of Monsters was slain.

In the aftermath of the battle, Kai and Bolsen were cleansed of their corruption and influence from the Jungle Insects, though Bolsen noted he seemed to still have some lingering effects as a result of his longer period of enthrallment. As for Fuzz, the young jungle monster claimed that he too was now freed from his mother's control and promptly fled deeper into the Land of Monsters before either Kai or Bolsen could get their hands on him. Kai, Daidan, and Bolsen then departed from the cave, with Kai offering Bolsen a place to travel alongside him and Daidan in hopes of escaping from the Land of Monsters. Although Bolsen appreciated their offer, he declined, explaining that he had too many regrets for the actions he committed under the control of the Queen and now sought out redemption for himself. With a final handshake, he and Kai parted ways, leaving Kai and Daidan to continue searching for a way to escape.

At the conclusion of Kai's story, Wyldfyre expressed her amazement and relief on her teacher's survival, though Kai admitted he had many more stories to tell from his time in the Land of Monsters. Kai then suddenly fell to the ground and exclaimed in horror that he was "changing back," and urged Wyldfyre to run for her life. After she ran away from the room in terror, Kai rose back to his feet with a chuckle and swiped her unfinished bowl of noodles, taking a sip and declaring that they were good.
