Overview
The way seasons of Ninjago are numbered can vary between official sources. The Ninjago fan community has generally numbered seasons of the show as one (Rise of the Snakes) to fifteen (Crystalized),[1] so the Ninjago Wiki has decided to refer to seasons this way solely for simplicity. However, these numberings aren't necessarily upheld across different official sources. For example, a number of sources consider the seasons starting from Secrets of the Forbidden Spinjitzu and ending at Crystalized to be of a new series called Ninjago, and the preceding seasons to be part of Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu. There are also inconsistencies regarding the numbering of earlier seasons, as well as seasons of Ninjago: Dragons Rising.
In reality, there is no one "correct" way to number seasons of Ninjago. This article contains a description on how every official source numbers seasons of the series.
Creator preferences
Creator preferences[]
Different people who have worked on the show have different personal preferences to how they number/consider seasons.
Bragi Schut[]
Bragi Schut considers The Island and Seabound to be two parts of one season. However, he considers Prime Empire and Master of the Mountain as separate seasons.[2] He has referred to Crystalized as season fifteen.[3] He stated that from a script-writing perspective, Seabound is season 13. He has made it clear that fans are "free to give [Ninjago] whatever numbering system [they] want."[4]
Tommy Andreasen[]
Tommy Andreasen has referred to seasons following March of the Oni to be of a separate series.[5][6] He has stated, "It’s kind of a new series with new writers, a different tone and a new studio."[7] He has also said, "We think of it as a new chapter. Whether it's a new or the same series doesn't matter much. It's still Ninjago."[8] After Hunted, he stopped counting seasons by number, instead referring to them by their names.[9][10] He prefers to call installments by their names to avoid any possible confusion on what he is referring to.[11][12] He considers March of the Oni to be a "4 episodes 'special event series'" rather than a season.[13] He has referred to The Island as a "44 minute episode."[14][15] He considers Prime Empire and Master of the Mountain to be two separate seasons/stories/chapters.[16][17] He considers The Island and Seabound to be "two chapters" instead of referring to either by "some elusive and divisive season number."[18]
Tommy Andreasen has informally referred to Sons of Garmadon, Hunted, and March of the Oni as "The Oni Trilogy"[19] (a term common in the Ninjago fan community).

Ninjago Magazine[]
The Ninjago Magazine has been known to be inconsistent with its season numbering. Before Dragons Rising Season 2, seasons succeeding Master of the Mountain were referred with the following numbering:
- Season 14: The Island
- Season 15: Seabound
- Season 16: Crystalized
- Season 17 (Dragons Rising - Season 1)[99]
However, roughly following the release of Dragons Rising - Season 2, magazines began consistently referring to seasons of Ninjago: Dragons Rising separately from seasons of the previous series. The Island is currently referred to as Season 14, and Crystalized is referred to as Season 15,[100] implying that The Island and Seabound are considered the same season.
